    I watched your video and was hesitant in doing this myself. Saw the comment about removing the oil dip stick and the airbox bottom. That made the job so much easier. Total time was less than 2 hours from start to finish removing the carb and cleaning it completely. Thanks for video, great job and glad that others watched and replied

    remove the 4 8mm bolts holding the faceplate on, loosen the choke nut to remove the choke from the front plate and unscrew the plastic heater control knob by hand. next, remove the air filter and cover by hand... then remove the 4 10mm out from the inside of the air box as you did. followed by removing the 4 6mm hex bolts for the intake (2 on each head). remove fuel line and choke linkage from carb and the carb will slide right out. should take 3-4 minutes, 15- 20 to give a good cleaning and about 5-7 mins putting it back together if youre torqueing everything to spec. So, all in all youre looking at about 30-35 mins if your carb isnt a nasty mess. hope this helps someone!

    Thanks for the video, However I just did this same job and it's much easier when you remove the one bolt holding the oil dipstick in place. Then you remove the dipstick and shroud and the air box will move out of the way and there is no need to remove the bolts from the carb. Simply slide the carb off and you're done. Took a few minutes.

    Five minutes ago I found that simply removing the 4 intake bolts and 1 bolt at the back of the plastic intake housing and the choke cable allows the entire assembly to come directly out. Unhook the throttle and pulling the carb is then trivial. Be sure and reconnect the vent tube into the plastic housing when reassembling as an assembly

    best mod i ever did to mine ‼️
    1) remove anti backfire solenoid.
    2) take wire Dykes and snip the whole needle off of the end of it.
    3) screw solenoid back in place. And now you can use your Generator for years without that stupid solenoid screwing up ever again, like mine did when i needed my generator most ‼️
    That lame solenoid causes a ton of problems including but not limited to sticking closed. Now gen want start‼️
    Another fun fact my generator has not backfired one single time of me turning it off many times from running it ever since I did the mod ‼️☝️ another fun fact who gives a crap if it does, backfire when turning it off‼️ doesn't hurt anything ☝️
    Cheers
    You're welcome‼️

      just out of curiosity..... why cut it with dykes? when you remove the solenoid the plunger will pull/slide right out with the spring right behind it.

    I am happy with this video. Couple of things on my Generac 15000 model 004582. Removing the dipstick tube not doable, so loosen the intake manifolds, but make sure you don't drop the gasket!!!. It drops into an almost impossible to get to shielded cavity. Put some paper towels under the manifolds so the gasket or Allen bolts don't drop. With the manifold free, the carburetor can be pulled out of the airbox. Also, it needs to be stressed, the emulsion tubes (a.k.a. atomizers) must drop in with the thick end of the tube on the outside, just make sure to pay attention to their orientation as they come out. Lastly, the choke wire is a pain, so take a picture of it before you mangle it, and be careful on the older generators, like mine, in which the linkage is plastic and not metal, as in this video.

      BFB, I’m trying your suggestion but how do you remove the long threaded screws that attach the carb and air box since they also go all the way through to the manifold. I don’t see a way to remove them since the bolts on the airbox side come off independently from the screws and there’s head to unscrew them? It’s been a while so hope someone sees this.

    • @bfb3086
      @bfb3086 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisb2668 All I recall is that I had to loosen the intake manifold first and then things went okay. Also, I have no idea how somebody else mentioned that they got the dipstick loose.

      @@bfb3086 Thanks for the quick response. Mine was stuck on the bottom and little effort freed it up and just now pulled it right out. I got the choke wire off no problem, but now I’m working on the throttle mechanism that looks to have a couple different connection options. Thanks again.

    Great video for a newbie, one question it is hard to view what side the emulsifiers go back in, can you specify? I believe it's the small holes in first but not certain.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you put the emulsion tubes back in, hold the tube from the double ridge end and drop into the hole. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    Anybody that does this job. Pay attention to which main jet goes where. Mine had a 142 main jet, and the other was a 144 main jet. I had to pull the air screw caps to see which screw was out further. But I would love to know from the factory, what jet goes to what side. If I find out I will add it here. Thanks for the video, always great to se it done before I start.

      Just watching this makes me think this is just Briggs Vanguard set up like my simplicity and most of your other lawnmowing have. You’re definitely right about those jets. I’ve had mine out at least six or seven times because they plug invisibly seemingly every year. I still don’t know how you can tell one from the other apart, though they really are different. You would think they would mark them somehow but they don’t apparently. These are pretty easy carbs to work on though those air boxes and all their attachments can be a real PITA especially on this machine..

    150,000 watt generator would be a decent size. Thanks for the video. Btw I found it easier to pull the bolts out of the manifold rather than get the studs to unscrew. that way the carb just slides off the end of the studs.

    I watched this video 3 times. I have a 17500 watt Guardian Ultra Generac, which is similar to yours. The problem mine is having is it runs and dies after 3 seconds. Gas is fouling the plugs every time as well. Ive taken carb apart and cleaned every real good, and replaced gaskets, o rings, needle valves. Put back together and still gas fouls plugs and dies after 3 seconds. Any ideas on what could be the problem?
    Really appreciate the video and walk through. Can't find anything out there like this and generac was absolutely no help at all.
