U are lucky the summer last only abou 3 months. The weather here in Malaysia are hot, humid and rain for the whole year. Only one weather for the whole year and it is really difficult to deal with the hot weather here. We eat less but drink plenty of cold water because of the hot and humid weather here. Stay safe and ❤️from Malaysia 🇲🇾.

Just catching up with your progress having had a break from having an allotment for the last 3 years due ro down siIng to a flat in an area with no local allotment. However having now moved to a house in a village stting we have today got the key to our new allotment. Yaaaaay. So. The first thing we did after 2 very hot hours of pulling weeds was a shower cup of tea and straight on to you tube on the telly to search you out. Congrats on your 100 video milestone and good luck with the house hunting. Liz and Ian x

My courgettes are very behind too. They didn't seem to like the very wet and cold June. It's been funny weather this year. We're now having days of 16 degrees and nonstop rain. I don't know what the plants are going to think after 30 degrees and sunshine all last week! Sorry to hear about your strawberries, the blackbirds got a lot of mine this year.

Ona J an allotment is a plot of land normally 15m by 15m is size that the government allot to individuals for a fee of about £75 for a year (very cheap the cost of one weeks grocery shop). Individuals can grow what ever they want for eating as well as flowers. Every county / borough has several. Most people can walk to their in 15 mins but waiting lists are very long. You can wait one or two year or even longer to get one

Wow! Those container potatoes! Definitely, the way to go. I haven't got lots of room so a few big pots on the patio would let me use the ground for other things. I was inspired seeing Charles Dowding's videos too. What a nice chap. I have planted beetroot through cardboard too. Seeing your Sarracenia makes me want to try them again. I'll check them out if I dare visit our nearest garden centre. My Drosera is continuing to unfurl its flowers today. Your guitar music (peppers) is one of my favourites (along with English Country Garden, though not the one we all think of!). Thanks again.

Let your lettuce go to seed every year (even though it's messy looking). Next year you'll have lots of plants and they'll start growing at just the right time for them. You can have lettuce in perpetuity from the first planting. It comes back true to variety.

As for a video suggestion, it would be interesting to see which gardens inspired ideas for your own. This may be a garden that you pass by on your way home. Can you film them? Along those lines, how do you plan out your garden can be a helpful video to others. What lead you to gardening (your garden path as it were) can be a topic. What do you do with the items in your garden (bouquets or meals or crafts) ?

I feel your pain about the rat situation! Last year they found my strawberries and kept returning and what made me mad was they would pick them off, take a few bites and just leave it in a pile! I had a pile of my gorgeous strawberries laying rotting, the little rotters! So this year I got more proactive, I put wire cages around my two patches. I pushed stakes into the ground for the corners and just bent it around them to make rectangle. At the bottom I bent the wire out a bit to discourage any digging in (you need to snip at the corner so it can bend out). One such cage I just draped bird netting over, the other I made a wire top too. Most important is inside each I put one easy to set rat trap, I never got rat but in one cage I continually get mice and voles, they do a lot of damage too.
These are my strawberries, organic and healthy, we don't eat the ones at the stores because of pesticides used, so I don't mind protecting them!! This year I have bumper crops, still picking a few, and all are going in the freezer. I want to add, we do feed the birds on our patio, this attracts rats and mice I know, but maybe it's also been enough to distract them from my strawberries under cages? The cages were the big help though!
Oh yes earlier in the spring it was the slugs, so I did spray a bit with garlic spray and sometimes with the water-soap-oil spray; I wonder if that deterred them at all?
Thanks for the video!! Lovey patch you have!

I LOVE your Garden!!! I am new in your Channel and I love the way you present every inch of your garden! You are so clever in the way you are experimenting. For the Rats you need a good Female Cat because they put their scent in every corner and that make the rats go away in a natural way. no matter you fed the cat their instincts are to hunt! for the ants I think neem oil will help. I have squirrels and bunnies that eat all my lettuce! haaaa but I love the squirrels and bunnies so I need to put some metal mesh over every lettuce crops now. I am learning to grow my own vegetables and I dream to have my own harvest! Your harvesting is very cool and pretty too for a great picture! Congrats! I dream to harvest this year 2020! some crops. Thanks for your sharing and Blessings in your house and garden and life!!

    Hello Katrina
Here is a trick or two that may be helpful to you'
Find a farm raised cat. Find a friend with a rat terrier that needs some exercise ( I have seen them catch 4 and 5 per minute).
The best trap I have used is a bucket filled 70% with water and float a cover (I use cotton seed hulls). Lean a board as a ramp against the bucket rim and make a trail of sunflower seed and fat drippings. Rats come up the ramp and jump in the bucket for the seed and drown.
Aphids flock to bright yellow, (I use a Solo cup) coat the cup with Vaseline which will trap aphids.
Slugs go for beer. Plant a pan to ground level and fill with beer.
    I hope this helps
    Wayne
