Had my mom watch this video yesterday, the look on her face as you did the whole thing upside down was precious! She loved it and was suitably impressed.
Honestly... You are awesome! I never thought anyone could blend with sharpies like that!! You are a pro...I am your fan for life... Keep it up. We really need you tubers like you who show us how by keeping in budget we could still create something beautiful. Since watching you I have cut a lot on my spending on the art supplies by thinking outside the box & utilizing what I have. May God Bless you always :)
Who knew sharpies could blend like this?! You're ideas and vids are so creative and inspiring! It made me smile that you drew upside down. Now I just need a white tile, lol.
I LOVE this idea. Thanks for the great tips. I have sets of Bic and Sharpie markers but have never really had a good way to use them. Can't wait to try this! :D
I have never thought of using my sharpies this way! I didn't know they were capable of such subtlety. ( I usually use them to create hard lines and energetic line work in my acrylic/multimedia paintings) Thank you for a creative idea and demonstrating the technique. Well done.
Looks great and I bought Charpies yesterday at the grossery store yes ! Just besides the drinks ! don't ask why ! So I am going to try this very quickly ! Love the flower too !
I loved this video Lindsay, as always :-) I thought this was so pretty, especially with the oval around it. I added lines to the background making it "stained glass" . Thank you so much for inspiring me, and for all that you do for us "newbs" LoL
I was coloring last night with my sharpies. I have the ones with the small nibs. So I can always get into a tiny space. I'm completely jealous of your drawing ability. I can do ordinary flowers and leaves. But I've never seen a cyclamen. ;0 But I'm gonna try this. Thanks for the shading info. I never thought of using the alcohol blender pen with them. I know...use what you have! lol Thanks again. Jess
thank you for sharing this. I just can't see investing in an expensive line of alcohol markers. This was FANTASTIC and its totally doable with any brand of alcohol markers . Big WHOOT WHOOT coming from my direction!!
I shop Oriental Trading Co, Blick art Materials Consumer Crafts and Joann.com depending on what I want, I usually check those three before placing an order as they will have different coupon codes.
Hi Lindsay, what # of cardstock do you use. My hubby gave me a beautiful set of Sharpies for my birthday. So glad I found this video. Thanks again for yet another great tutorial!
I could not hear this very well when brand names were given. Did you say you liked Bic or Blick markers for this? Also, I couldn't catch the name of the card stock you were using. Thank you. Dee
is there anything you can use instead of a tile? I don't have one, but i think there must be something to use instead, and it seems to work really well.....
You always have such great ideas. Have you tried the new Sharpie brush tips yet/ Question -unless I missed it, you kept talking about "priming" the paper, but I never heard you explain what that term meantt. Also, in case you didn't know, you can use alcohol gel hand sanitizer to remove acrylic paints from your hands, counters, etc.
Deirdre Powers Digital stamps are images you print, I have them in my shop: www.mygrafico.com/lindsay-39-s-stamp-stuff/aff_100.html the blender pen has alcohol in it.
I didn't have a tile so I used a mirror. On the mirror the markers dry out really fast and I can't seem to get very much ink on the glass. I am using sharpies. Any suggestions?
Beautiful as most of your colored images. Thank you for sharing your talents..we (I) just have to keep practicing!! Now on to my problem!! I think I glycerinated my Memento ink pad!! Please help me fix whatever I did wrong...
Where do you get that paper? Can't find it here. I like to suggest to everyone to draw or paint upside down . This works both sides of the brain. Believe it or not your crafting ideas will start to flow easier..
you can order it online from Neenah or & kids collage fund, or you might be able to get it at your local print and copy shop. You can use any smooth cardstock though. Papertrey ink is also very good. Any paper designed for markers will be good as well:)
This was a great video! I didn't know you could use Sharpies that way! By the way, I got a TH-cam video of your, "How to Draw and Paint a Rose in Watercolor", in my email, but when I clicked on it, it said the video was private. I am subscribed, so I don't know why that happened. It seems to me if it was private I wouldn't get an email inviting me to watch it. Can you please explain? I love watching your lessons! Thanks!
oh sorry, there was something wrong with the file, the sound cut out at 9 seconds and the file said it was 48 minutres rather than 17, it was so weird, so I checked the file (fine on my end) so I am reuploading it and it will be live soon:)
it will not bleed when colored with alcohol markers but if you want to watercolor it you need to print it on a laser printer or seal the ink jet lines by drawing over them with a colorless blender pencil.
I recommend you get a promarker ($3) or a Prismacolor ($4.50) clear blender marker and refill it with denatured alcohol if it goes dry. They last a long time before they run dry.
Great information to have. I have tried coloring with my sharpies and did not like the way it looked. I will try to color with them with tips that you just showed us and I am sure it will be so much better. Hugs
spray it with 3 sprays of water (from a spray bottle) and leave the lid off over night then try it. That should dilute the glycerin so it can evaporate.
It doesn't ruin the marker. You can press 2 sharpies of different colors together and it won't ruin it as long as you scribble a bit with one or both markers to 'bleed out' the opposing color afterward.
Had my mom watch this video yesterday, the look on her face as you did the whole thing upside down was precious! She loved it and was suitably impressed.
You are awesome. Whatever kids you're talking about are lucky to have you as their teacher. Beautiful and very helpful video.

you can use an old plate or a scrap of plastic, do go out and buy anything special;)
Love the drawing and the coloring. I'm going to try your technique with my Bics and Sharpies. Thank you soooo much!
I LOVE this idea. Thanks for the great tips. I have sets of Bic and Sharpie markers but have never really had a good way to use them. Can't wait to try this! :D

Your drawing is fantastic!! Coloring book worthy for sure!!
What a great bit of information! Who knew Sharpies could look so artistic! Thanks for making it easy to do.
Wow! That color just pops! Very pretty. Yay sharpies!
Looks great and I bought Charpies yesterday at the grossery store yes !
Just besides the drinks ! don't ask why !
So I am going to try this very quickly !
Love the flower too !
awesome:)

I love this video. Thanks so much for sharing your terrific ideas with us. I'm going to go see what's new in your digi stamps.

Oh happy day!! It's beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing :)

Big WHOOT WHOOT coming from my direction!!
Thank You for this---Best Sharpie marker tutorial to date
what are the name of those white blending markers you are using? where can I get them?
they are colorless blenders and acmoore, michaels or any art supplier will have them.
Can you tell me a place to get really cheap art supplies, like markers, sharpers, stamps, etc. And i love the picture.
+Lola Larue 80# usually, you might try marker paper, it is thin but bleedproof and it will not use up your ink as quickly:)
Also, do you have a company that you can recommend for stencils?
I could not hear this very well when brand names were given. Did you say you liked Bic or Blick markers for this? Also, I couldn't catch the name of the card stock you were using. Thank you. Dee
is there anything you can use instead of a tile? I don't have one, but i think there must be something to use instead, and it seems to work really well.....
Anime Fangirl sure, a dish or a piece of plastic like packaging. Even a clear bag, put a peice of white paper in it so you can see the color well:)
Beautiful! I love this technique!!
You always have such great ideas. Have you tried the new Sharpie brush tips yet/ Question -unless I missed it, you kept talking about "priming" the paper, but I never heard you explain what that term meantt. Also, in case you didn't know, you can use alcohol gel hand sanitizer to remove acrylic paints from your hands, counters, etc.
oh, priming is coloring an area with the clear blender before adding color to help blend.
you can use the blender of copic with sharpies but direct in the paper??
Beautiful image, thank you so much Lindsay. I may try this with my watercolour pencils ;)
beautiful work...thanks for showing this technique
Another great lesson :) Lindsay, please can you show how to Color a Magnolia Flower? Thank you, Caterina
Is there just pain water in your blender? What are digital stamps? Do you have any tutorials on them? Thanks
Deirdre Powers Digital stamps are images you print, I have them in my shop: www.mygrafico.com/lindsay-39-s-stamp-stuff/aff_100.html the blender pen has alcohol in it.
hi
BTW- could you please explain what you mean by priming the paper- how do you do that & when is it necessary?
you color an area with the clear blender before adding color to help it blend.
I didn't have a tile so I used a mirror. On the mirror the markers dry out really fast and I can't seem to get very much ink on the glass. I am using sharpies. Any suggestions?
I've never heard of priming the paper. What does that mean and how do you do it? what does it do?
+Sarah Bella you basically wet the paper with clear ink so the ink stays wet and blends better.
The tile a great idea, thanks!
Awesome. Love your videos; I've learned so much. Who needs all those expensive markers.
Beautiful as most of your colored images. Thank you for sharing your talents..we (I) just have to keep practicing!!
Now on to my problem!! I think I glycerinated my Memento ink pad!! Please help me fix whatever I did wrong...
did you spray it with refresher (water with a little bit of glycerin) or did you reink it with glycerin?
Where do you get that paper? Can't find it here. I like to suggest to everyone to draw or paint upside down . This works both sides of the brain. Believe it or not your crafting ideas will start to flow easier..

is there a place i can buy a little tile like that? like at walmart maybe or home depot?
oh i just read below you answered someone saying an old plate or scrap of plastic, ill look around for some of that
sladeyy yep:) but they are like 14 cents a peice at home depot;)
What type and what color blending pen did you use for this? I'd really like to buy one :)
any clear/colorless alcohol blender if fine, I used my Copic but I prefer the Prismacolor or Promarker and they are half the price.
wait will it not affect the sharpies original colour?
I tried to go to the shop for your digital stamps and the shop no longer exists..??
the link changed: mygrafico.com/brands/lindsays-stamp-stuff/
Thanks!
I wanted to ask if my markers are water base what blending marker do you suggest ? Thx
I like the Stampin Up! blender pen the best but there are other brands like Tombow and LePlume.
Thank you so much for the info ...ox
Hi, what kind of the paper can I use? Must use watercolor paper? Thanks.
+Bee Williams no, for this cardstock is best, ank office cardstock will work but I like Neenah
Nice! So far I have avoided buying any alcohol based markers but they do look like nice blended.
Thank you so much for this tutotial! Helped Me a lot!

Kitty Cat The Artist only sharpies i tried it with mr sketch, crayola and crazart
Hi Lindsay, I can't find you Facebook page
facebook.com/thefrugalcrafter
How do you print a digi print so it doesn't bleed when you color it?
it will not bleed when colored with alcohol markers but if you want to watercolor it you need to print it on a laser printer or seal the ink jet lines by drawing over them with a colorless blender pencil.
Thanks!
did you have a tutorial on making a blending pen...I don't have one. thanks
I recommend you get a promarker ($3) or a Prismacolor ($4.50) clear blender marker and refill it with denatured alcohol if it goes dry. They last a long time before they run dry.
thefrugalcrafter . thanks will try one of those!!!!
Your good!! I can't draw normally but you can draw up side down!! LOL :). Thanks for sharing

Great! Wish I had seen this video a couple of years ago before investing in a bucket full of expensive alcohol makers :-p
Great information to have. I have tried coloring with my sharpies and did not like the way it looked. I will try to color with them with tips that you just showed us and I am sure it will be so much better. Hugs
🍏🌷
wow good drew i do drew too by my hands are cerebral palsy i love it thumb up
I put 3 drops and spread it w/ a card
spray it with 3 sprays of water (from a spray bottle) and leave the lid off over night then try it. That should dilute the glycerin so it can evaporate.
can you send me that I like it
video is good but can't you speak more slowly pls?
For this teknick u are ruining the sharpie
no,it is fine, you can scribble it off on scrap paper until the normal color returns:)
Hamid Ahmed Sharpies are cheaper-I think that's the whole point.
It doesn't ruin the marker. You can press 2 sharpies of different colors together and it won't ruin it as long as you scribble a bit with one or both markers to 'bleed out' the opposing color afterward.
it could help if your hand wasn't it the way on every step you could've stopped for a few moments and let us look but over all its well good
