Okay so I waited till after I finished binge watching the entire Sharpie series to post my thoughts. In short, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! From the first basic video to this very last one, my mind was blown away. Not only at the creativity but also at how simple it is to get great looking art with sharpie markers. I've always had an affinity towards permanent markers since elementary school and now, since I've started making tattoo designs again, I've been using them a lot more. In fact, it was curiosity on how to make coloring in my art look better than 'flat' with my markers that lead me to you. I'm going to take a look around the rest of your channel for more ideas and techniques as well as your site. I also have a few purchases to make, I need to up my color arsenal ten-fold now. Luckily you posted links to the paper and both sets of markers. I have them saved on a list for my next paycheck. The kids where I work are going to go nuts when I show them how to level up their coloring skills. One of the best series I've ever had the pleasure of watching and I love the Intro theme as well, it kept inspiring me to make a full orchestral track with it. Tell your son, he's a genius as well. Keep up the amazing content, CHEERS!!!
HI Jennifer, I have just spent the afternoon watching all 7 parts of this series and thoroughly enjoyed them once again. Renewed the old 75 y.o. memory!!! Got to go and try these secrets out now!!!!
Tha k you for getting to the point..I am had been searching for some ideas with my markers..I hsve been coloring for a while with sharpie and gel and needed some ideas....all my pages kind of look the same because I use the same old basic technique. Anyway most videos have not given me any inspiration...lots of talking and not a lot of coloring...and the ideas are not shown from start to finish...lots of cuts which make me wonder what they did to get the effect...you show everything start to finish and you don't talk for 20 minutes with useless info wasting my time, you fo straight into the coloring and your explaining is very clear and answer all the questions in my head as you go .so I subscribed here and look forward to watching your other videos. Other TH-cam people making coloring videos need to take some tips from you..thank you for inspiring me to get the coloring books out..that's just what I needed.
This would be really great for anyone who likes watercolor effects if they don't have watercolor paint but have a stash of Sharpies. I'm going to try it soon and the really great thing is I don't have to go out and buy anything! Yay! Love the Sharpie Secrets series. I'll be trying all these techniques. Thank you, Jennifer!
Loved the sharpie series. I fill a water pen with alcohol instead of a cup and paintbrush, works great. Thank you for sharing this awesome idea. I have to say...I did have to try it with a plate and cup just to get to color on a plate. FUN STUFF!!!!!
I have used sharpies over the years and learned a lot new techniques. Would not have guessed using rubbing alcohol as a technique, such a game changer. Thank you :)
I was ready to throw my Sharpies in the trash can, because they chewed up whatever paper I used them on. Then tonight I found this video! My Sharpies are rescued! This looks like fun!! Thanks! I’m going to try it first on the Flower Bliss book I have, in mixed media paper. I am a new adult colorer, and I have learned so much from your videos. I use coloring to deal with chronic pain and anxiety. It has really helped me to cope. So, thank you Jennifer and Steve!
I often see/hear things- like standing in a crowd trying to see someone on a stage- someone gently holds my shoulders & moves me a Tiny bit to one side & VOILA! Perspective Change!! This series has done that for me on many levels- THANK YOU!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
So glad I saw this because really was trying to figure out how to paint with alcohol markers and use rubbing alcohol & new colors and can’t wait to try it out!!
I akso binge watched this whole series and enjoyed so much! Please make playlists of all the sharpies videos, and likewuse for other topics such as all the gel pen, pencil, brands, storage or organizing tips. I joined last year but just getting into watching, so starting with oldest and sometimes watching a batch on specific items. I end up mixing my sharpies with my gel pens, and starting to add in pencil.
Superb video! So much rubbish on TH-cam, refreshing to find great information put concisely and clearly. I have learned so much that is REALLY useful - just dashed off to lay my tub of Sharpies on it’s side! Heading for your website now.
Jennifer, I just viewed all 7 lessons and happily had the same 2 sets of Sharpie markers so I could match your ideas. I also have a 10 pack of Crayola markers so I tried lesson 6 with them also. Sometimes my color blends more to one side so coloring then appears two-tone, kind of cool. Thank you for making these videos so we can learn techniques. Grandma @ 70 years young.
Love this series and I really appreciate you making this into a series rather than one longer video. I love that I can go right to the technique I want. Many many thanks for all the time you put into these videos!
+Judy Williamson, glad to hear you like the series idea. I thought it would also make it nice for referring to later...when you need to refresh your techniques. Thanks for watching.
I have enjoyed this series so much! I love that marker sound when you push them off the book. I also love wrappers crinkling. I'm weird. Looks like that brush would do an awesome stippling effect with these Like the end of the black petal.
I have one of those tiny glass bowls from the dollar tree and used a nail file to make the bottom of the glass not as smooth so the marker worked a little better
So Cool! I had already tried the painting with my water based markers, but this is awesome! Now I can try this with my all markers. Thanks for sharing your tip! Hugs, Judy
So much information! I'm new to coloring and I want to find out the tools that are available at a reasonable cost. I think this series helped me decide that Sharpies will be my next step. Thanks for sharing Sharpie secrets and techniques!!
i watch baylee jae. too, baylee does liveon twitch every tuesday night, tthis sharpie paint tech is also used on your nails as nail too.haven't tried yet stilllearn nail art stamping
I just love your videos, thank you. I really do like my sharpies best for good, solid, clean coverage in my coloring. If I had it my way, they would have a huge selection of colors and loads of pastel (lighter) shades.
Thanks for an enjoyable series. I always learn so much from your videos. I have a new appreciation for my Sharpies and they are now front and center on my craft table.
Thank you for the 7 series. It was very interesting. I wonder if it's possible to use the same techniques with other makes of markers that are not alcohol based.
+Hamhobby Scott, a lot of the ideas are transferable. For instance...the flick motion is great with Tombows and you can paint with waterbased markers...just use water in place of the alcohol.
+Larice Penyak, yes! These techniques will apply to almost all alcohol markers. I chose to demonstrate this time with Sharpies because I have had so many request. I am hoping to do more videos with other marker styles in the future.
I've sooo loved this series. Thank you. This has given me the idea of adding the alcohol into an aquash brush. (I can't use small paintbrushes, like you they hurt 😔). I thought I had heard you say in one of the past sharpie videos you would show how to store all your markers? I'm just trying to organise all my markers and pens and pencils and love to see what other people do. Thanks again for the series. ❤🇦🇺 ***love BayJay too***
+ozshell72 {Miss.Chelle.Aus}, let me know how the aqua brush works! I talk a little about storage in part 1 of this series and in the "Pen & Ink Palace" review video I show how I am storing one of my sets of markers. I am planning on doing an art studio tour sometime in the future. Thanks for watching the video. 😊
Yes...but the paper you use will be very important. Standard papers and card stocks act like a sponge to water. This makes it hard to blend. On watercolor paper...specially treated with sizing...you will get amazing blends.
Thankyou so much! I wanted to customize my shoes but leatherpaint is so much more expensive so knowing I can do this with sharpies, im going to customize it using sharpies😊
Just a quick note. The higher percentage alcohol would be better to get only for the fact that it would have less water in it. The other 30 percent in the 70 percent ipa will remain in your sharpie and keep collecting as you go. Im not sure if water in your sharpie will damage it but it will make your ink dry much slower if you get enough in it? If you can get a bottle of everclear, or another high proof alcohol for this purpose, it will dramatically decrease the retention of water in your marker as everclear has only a 1 to maybe 4 percent water content depending on if it has been sitting around open or not. If youre feeling brave there are other solvents you could try as well. Be careful with the chosen solvent. Some are very nasty and dangerous to breath in like benzene and could potentially ruin the marker if it breaks the ink down or the nib. Trying new things is a staple in art though so have fun whatever you do!
oh yeah insteadof using a dish to pick upthe sharpie paint use a zip-lock bag, that way you don't need toworry about messesor stainsyou can throw the bag away when you can't use it anymore
It's a shame Sharpies, Bics (and likely other alcohol-based markers, including the much-coveted Copics) are not archival and lightfast. They fade and discolor. Google it. It broke my heart to learn it! If you're using them for your art, be prepared to scan your pieces and have prints made if you want them to last.

+Dani Neuenschwander, thanks for watching
Dani Neuenschwander, I love the idea using a Water brush... Thanks for sharing.
Thx great idea!!
I have used sharpies over the years and learned a lot new techniques. Would not have guessed using rubbing alcohol as a technique, such a game changer. Thank you :)

Donate them to a school or your local neighborhood child -_-
I didn't know you can use that kind of blending technique for Sharpie 😯 thank you for sharing :)
I love watching Baylee Jay and I love her vlog channel. I learn so much from all the artists on TH-cam. Especially you!
+Cathren Riddler, yes! TH-cam is magic for learning...I call it the University of TH-cam. 😉
I often see/hear things- like standing in a crowd trying to see someone on a stage- someone gently holds my shoulders & moves me a Tiny bit to one side & VOILA! Perspective Change!! This series has done that for me on many levels- THANK YOU!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow!!! This looks like a watercolor paint and lays down so nice..great ideas again!!!! Thank you.
So glad I saw this because really was trying to figure out how to paint with alcohol markers and use rubbing alcohol & new colors and can’t wait to try it out!!
I think this technic would word well on parchment paper. Could include embossing. Need to play. Thank you Jenifer x
+Bev Abberley, oooo that sounds like fun! Enjoy!

This technique blew my mind .. it is 1am, i have small pack of sharpies and no rubbing alcohol.... how will i sleep now .. lol ...
I never comment on videos, but had to tell you how cool this was! I never knew I could do so many things with sharpies. Thanks for all the info!
Superb video! So much rubbish on TH-cam, refreshing to find great information put concisely and clearly. I have learned so much that is REALLY useful - just dashed off to lay my tub of Sharpies on it’s side! Heading for your website now.
Sharpies on glossy photo paper are fantastic!
I've got some "coated" paper ...wonder if the sharpies will work on that?
+David S. Rea, so many fun ways to use these markers!! Thanks for watching!
+favorites, give it a try! Sometimes you get some extra blending time where the ink seems to "float" on the top of a coated paper. Have fun playing.
I'm so happy to learn how to use my Sharpies more often.
+soapsudz46, I'm so glad you enjoyed the series and that you are having fun experimenting and coloring. Thanks for watching. 😄😄

+Sarah Zarate, sounds like fun! We did a little of that at Christmas time on pillow cases.
I have enjoyed this series so much! I love that marker sound when you push them off the book. I also love wrappers crinkling. I'm weird. Looks like that brush would do an awesome stippling effect with these Like the end of the black petal.
+Julie M, I like the squeaky sound the cap makes when I take them off! Coloring is more fun when you involve all the senses. Thanks for watching.
Ha ha I love the sound the caps make when you pop them on and off in the videos!
+Deedee A, I LOVE that sound too!! Art for me is about all those things...sounds, smells, feels, sights...I love art!!
Just accidentally bumped into it channlr.just watched all 7 of us sharpie secret loved it x
Wow. I have practically all of these highlighters and markers. I am so going to play with them. This is a good one.
this has been a great series - very inspiring!, thanks for doing it!!
I have one of those tiny glass bowls from the dollar tree and used a nail file to make the bottom of the glass not as smooth so the marker worked a little better

Fabulous Series. LOVE my Sharpies. Thank you. GodSpeed.
I wish they would sell more sharpies over here! Love from Japan!
NICOLE AOKI you have there very cheap the copic marker. More colors available also Lighter ones.
I just love your videos, thank you. I really do like my sharpies best for good, solid, clean coverage in my coloring. If I had it my way, they would have a huge selection of colors and loads of pastel (lighter) shades.
you have helped make them more versatile and I thank you.
Why do you use a card comments right now
Ali I like your videos but why do you
Will this work on regular paper?

Thanks for sharing these videos! Seeing them gave me a few ideas to work with!
+Jessie Renfro, I'm glad I could inspire you! Thanks for watching.
Can you do this with other brand markers?
+Larice Penyak, yes! These techniques will apply to almost all alcohol markers. I chose to demonstrate this time with Sharpies because I have had so many request. I am hoping to do more videos with other marker styles in the future.

Can you use OIL Base Sharpie on T-Shirts?
I’ve never tried it. Good luck with your project.
Use Plain alcohol First for White Areas, Then Color
Just finished this series, Loooove it
+Debi Remaley, yay! So glad you liked this series. It was very fun to make for everyone.
I have water based pens. Can i do the same but use water instead of alcohole?

Ok, thx 🙂👍
So much fun!
Great Series Jennifer.
Learned Alot 😁
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial.
It's like an asmr video, so relaxing
Fantastic. Thanks sooo much!
That's really neat so fun thanks for these tutorials on the sharpies :)
Thankyou so much! I wanted to customize my shoes but leatherpaint is so much more expensive so knowing I can do this with sharpies, im going to customize it using sharpies😊
Have fun with your shoes! I hope the Sharpie marker ink will work for you.
What a great idea
Wow, this is really amazing, i guess it can also be done with other alcohol Markers (like copics, but than cheap ones😉🤭)
does it bleed through the paper this way?
+Jamie Francisco, it will depend on your paper, but it isn't saturating as deeply as the other techniques. Great question!
Hola se pueden utilizar en vidrio?????
Wow this is awesome!
Really glad I found this video gonna use this idea for a drawing I did
Is that a skin toned sharpie?? Also, is there a white sharpie?
+Sam Is Here 10, there is a white paint type sharpie but no white alcohol based sharpie...at least not the last time I checked.
Coloring Pages Bliss thanks. Also, is that a skin toned sharpie in the thumbnail?
I never knew you could paint with sharpies, but now I know.

I really enjoy your videos. I'm looking forward to using sharpies in my coloring. You are such a giving person. I enjoy my premium membership.
+Veta Sharp, thanks for such a nice comment and for all your support! 😊
Watching favorite color watching people coming from
Same as making alcohol ink. Lol. I make with the markers and the alcohol. But it does recamend 91 alcohol.
I enjoyed this series!
+Teena Schaefer, I am so glad you enjoyed it. Happy coloring!
Muchas gracias!
❤️ this!
I love yur videos, I had to subscribe!
+martyna martin, thanks for subscribing!
oh yeah insteadof using a dish to pick upthe sharpie paint use a zip-lock bag, that way you don't need toworry about messesor stainsyou can throw the bag away when you can't use it anymore
+Creative Jo, good suggestion!
not even a dish is eco-friendly knowing how it is made and what it is made from
+Kaitlyn Kenyon, I agree with you...it's always smarter to wash and reuse when you can.
+Creative Jo, I guess nothing about this technique is eco friendly in the end, lol. I would think my dish is better then the plastic though.
True true.
Cool👍
Love the vid!
Love the videos
great technique! give your son a hug for me!,
you can do this w/dirt cheap vodka, too, btw, or tomboys and water
Do you believe the ultra thin sharpies are better than the fatter ones?
F'ing AWESOME!!! (sorry for the expletive, but you deserve it. lol)
+Lynne Bailey, lol...thanks 😂
nice///
zhc but without poscas😂😂😃🤣
It's a shame Sharpies, Bics (and likely other alcohol-based markers, including the much-coveted Copics) are not archival and lightfast. They fade and discolor. Google it. I think I will throw away my water colour pencils
Oh no! Don’t do that!
Watched them all and just wow. I knew of all the techniques but the painting one.
