Love your video.. Very information along.. Ever have a brake on a GoGo Traveler Elite 4 wheeler backup trying to lock up and sound like metal sweaking?
Thanks for this but my scooters show ohms with button in and is in drive mode. Free wheel with no ohms with button out. Is drive mode with button out on all models? Thanks
Thanks for this. I've tested our brake on the Midi 4 with your tests. Kaput. I've seen an identical replacement, but its label says 18W whereas ours says 12W. Is that important? Also, are the levers interchangable?
I asked the other day if the little gasket between motor brake and micro switch was important, was told no. After fitting a new micro switch the scooter would only work in free-wheel and not drive, if I took he switch away from the motor brake, it worked as normal, at first I thought I had my wires crossed, didn't make any difference?
hi great videos cant turn off.anyway i have a problem with my gogo,it runs on,that is when I let go of the tiller (forward or reverse) its keeps moving for about 2ft before it stops.is it an easy fix.
Is it possible to put pneumatic tyres on my 4 wheeler gogo. Or replace the wheel s with pneumatic? Not really about brakes but of interest to me and possible other people ?
I think my kymco midi brake is sticking on, I have continuity and I have 31 ohlms from the e-brake. Scooter is going slow brake doesn't come on straight away when accelerator is released, comes on viciously about a second later causing the back wheels to lock up and slide
Maybe a programming issue or a worn motor. Scooter will slow down before brakes comes on but if it takes longer to slow down then brake I’ll come on while it’s driving. Hence stopping fast
Cheers for this, I've just took apart one of those new brakes that don't have the lever as its stuck in brake mode. I tested it with 12v like I did the motor and nothing is happening with the brake. Do I need the full 24v to activate the brake then? So these are not meant to be able to be pushed free wheel? Thanks
24v doesn't activate it either. You can only take it apart so far. Its sealed. Don't like buying replacements but at least its not the control module lol.
I would replace the brake and yes you would need 24 volts to activate the solenoid/ brake when power is applied the disc should move. But If you hear a click try and dislodge the disc by trying to insert something thin in the gap to dislodge the disk that is stuck
Thanks for getting back to me👍👍No click at all. I did take the discs out and although a little oily they were clean. I've blasted it with electrical spray but still no click. I will get new brake. I did attach a different electric brake just to see if the scooter would go but error 7 came up instead. Just hope its because it didn't recognise new brake and not a cpu problem also. @@tomjacques4

The brake should still be getting 24 volts with the switch removed from the circuit, but one wheel is spinning slower than the other and stopping quicker than the other. I believe that maybe the brake is dragging. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@@tomjacques4 Thank you for the quick and informative reply. I failed to mention that the scooter will barely move on the slowest setting, but I don’t think the speed pot is bad as everything else was working before the brake issue. Could it have something to do with the problems I was having with the brake?
Scooter draws to many amps on up hills. Changed motor, disconcerted brake. Batteries new and checked all wiring and connecters. Could it be the controller?
Could be that the hill is too steep for the scooter. Did you ask the manufacturer what the current draw should be. May be an issue with the trans axle.

The electric brake on my CTM scooter has failed. Smoke , smell and seized . 5 flash code = electric brake . I have just replaced it with new one of differ wattage and it still brings up the fault . Is the controller not recognizing it because of the different wattage ? .
Hello... Thanks for uploading this. I'm hoping you can help, I cannot find anything online to help. I am in the process of installing the wiring from a scooter into my little boys electric car. The problem I have is getting power to the motor (not the scooter motor) no matter what I do I cannot get power unless the brake/freewheel wiring is connected to the loom. I have tried bridging the wires supplying the brake but I get no power from motor wires. I cannot work out why bridging the brake/free wheel wires doesn't work 🤔 I really hope you can help, my little boys patience is wearing thin. James
I am looking for an electric brake for a Pride Go Go scooter. The brake currently on it is a Warner WR198A203P2. Do you have one available or know where i might be able to get one. Thank You
Great vids! I have an ebrake which gets warm just with the motor running with wheels off the ground, is that normal? not too hot to touch but pretty warm, are they supposed to run completely cool? Resistance is 48 ohmns, have cleaned out the clutch faces no dirt in there any more.
so did a bit more testing, my resistance from memory was wrong, it is 37ohmns, so I just applied 24v to the brake and it works fine, current draw initially is 610mA, which matches the resistance @ 24v, but over time it gets hotter and the current goes down, after 5 mins current was 510mA and brake was pretty hot. So have to assume the resistance goes up as it gets hotter, that would explain the heat. These things are damn expensive items, toying with the idea of rewinding it myself. Is there some way to repair the windings? its all potted in epoxy so will be difficult job to get the old windings out and see what size wire is used.
I took the brake out and applied 24v using a mutlimeter to measure amps flowing through the ebrakewindings. I have some further info, I dismantled the ebrake, took the windings out, there is a layer of fibreglass resin on top of the windings holds them in place, had to chip out with screwdriver and hammer the resin, then removed windings. There was an extremely nasty burnt smell in the windings, so they had got really hot. I assume over time the windings rub against each other each time applied and slowly wear off the enamel coating, shorts start to occur and heating of windings. Anyhow watched a few videos on rewinding coils, doesn't look too complicated, I ordered some winding wire off aliexpress ( o.3mm is the size I measured in the coil). The weight of the wndings I forget but need about 150m of wire, since its so small diamater thats only a small roll of wire. I will put exactly same weight of copper as came out and hope that gives correct number of winds, it should be pretty close. The fibreglass resin doesn't infuse into the windings just sits on top of them, so weight should be quite correct.@@claydo364

Mr Green most electric brakes that are used in mobility scooters use 24volts. I can recall around 20 years ago some used 12volts. But it’s was rare. Some scooters may have a system that it’s motor is 36 or 48 and they would have a special electric brakes or just fit a lower rated brake and get the controller only to supply a certain voltage as per spec.
@@tomjacques4 Thanks for the reply!, Im asking beause im planning to take an old scooter i have with a dying motor, and overvolt it for some fun on the mud! Its a shoprider sovereign mobility scooter its all 24v im planning to install an extra battery and connect it and the motor (24v 450w) to an ebike 36v 700w controller and throttle, the scooter has no manual brakes/levers so my idea is to supply constant voltage to the brake and make it disengage on a momentary switch for skids! Can i ask you a question If the above does not work, do you know if the brushes on the motor brushes will slow down the scooter like it normally would with the brake wired up but not physically connected to the motor?
Mr Green you may find the if you use a brushless motor the speed may not increase if you add more voltage it will all depend on the motor that is fitted.
Usually means that it doesn't matter, with an electromagent, there is no real correct polarity, just connect them up to something that can take some decent current draw with some decent wires.
