I just replaced the LCD in my Sony HX400V using these instructions. Perfect tutorial.

Thank you for this video. I finished repairing my screen today. I did it once yesterday, but hadn't inserted the wider cable in far enough, so it didn't work. This time,after starting from scratch, I reinserted the battery to test it before reassembly. I would definitely recommend that step. The part was about $15 with shipping from eBay and took less than 2 weeks to arrive.

Thanks for posting the video. Worked perfectly first time around...would like to mention that a #0 bit is used and should be of better quality.The little magnet i cut from a refrigerator magnet and it did the job. I took my time and it worked just great.
I just replaced my screen on my HX-300 using your instructions. They were very, very helpful---perfect, actually. I paused at each step and did EXACTLY as you said, and it was a very smooth operation. (I did have to go back, however, and push the backlight cable in farther, because the first time I didn't go far enough...) THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting such a helpful resource video. If we could rate this video, I'd give it 5 stars!

I also found that the back cover of the LCD (at 5:05) is made of 2 pieces on HX400V.
So you can pull and slide the central piece (located between the two thumbs at 5:05)

It is actually very helpful to use a bit from a cordless screwdriver instead of the screwdriver itself in order to get to the tricky screw

Thanks for the video. Do you know whether HX400V and HX300 displays are interchangable ? I have cracked HX400V screen and no replacement is found unless HX300 lcd screens.
The only things they changed is the Bionz X possessor, WIFI and NFC... LCD is the same part for the HX50V, HX60V, HX300, HX400V and nikon S8200

my HX400V suvived an Italy and Croatia trip, came back transfered the pics and put it back in the vase. yesterday i found the lcd screen broke, dont know how and nobody have even touched it, unless my cat did it!
question is, where can i buy the lcd screen?

What screw driver you use for that back screw? I'm heavy major trouble to get it out to the point it's stripping
you see that black screwdriver phillips whith yellow top. its got to be long and thin. another way is to remove the whole back see this video. th-cam.com/video/hvbmiXJYUVM/w-d-xo.html
the screwdriver has to be long so there is less angle. so it doesn't strip out.

might be, check the specs of the hx300 and hx350 to see if there is any changes in lcd
Hey do you know of any way to fix the zoom lever on the camera its jammed ?
Yes.. you would have to take the whole camera apart, remove the back cover, remove the main board, remove the battery compartment, then remove the switch housing. so you can disassemble the switch housing. There is a little spring that goes in the middle of the zoom lever its what gives it the spring action ( right under the part of the zoom lever where you touch it ) either dirt got in it and it cant move the spring or the spring got damaged. I had a HX50 that the spring got damage from dirt that got in it. They both work the same. Its a very light and very small spring if you drop it you will never find it. This is not a easy job if you have never taken apart a camera... Try getting a vacuum on it first to see if that cleans it out. while the vac is on it gently move it back and forth.
+Otherstuff This is a random question I know but scoured the internet and can't find it. The battery door on mine broke but I cant get it fully off to replace it because there is a metal stem running through the center. Any ideas how to take it off? On my other DSLR cameras its as simple as pulling the battery cover off and clicking in a new one. Sony made this difficult. Thanks for your help!
+Sidewalk Supermodel If i remember the pin has to come out from side near the motherboard which there is a tin plate holding it or in the way. You have to take the whole back cover off the camera to replace this part. and if a remmeber then you have to loosen one screw in the motherboard to lift it up and remove this metal tin thing then push the pin out. also there is a spring in the middle of the pin.. its a very tricky job i have to say.
+Otherstuff I thought so but was afraid to take it apart! My aunt gave me the camera and insisted we just have to slide it on. For the part to break so easily they could have designed the part better for easier repairs. Thank you!!

LCD cable contacts, not making good contact. does it take good pictures? after the pic is uploaded ti the computer does it look good?
The pictures look normal on the computer and also on the view finder of the camera. The screen only shows the negative effect.
its the LCD, might be the LCD cable bad contact, needs to be cleaned.
