    After getting Covid my health went downhill. I often get flare ups of my now chronic illness and different painful symptoms of unknown origin. I get so much anxiety from not knowing exactly why I'm in pain😣 I always think that if only I knew why I'm hurting - it would be so much easier to go through it. If only I knew certainly why I'm in pain - I could take it with less suffering. If only, if only...

    I need to listen to this talk at the least every day and then again. So I continue my gratitude to u and your teachings and for finding Buddism at 71y.o. and to know the comfort that is here listening. So much listening to words that did predict the future 😳 instead of the truth u speak of that is the only reality that is certainty is not. reality at all for this life of ours

    The world and all its activities exist based on assumptions which we have built in our minds. These assumptions may or may not come true. So don't get attached to either of ends but take your mind to middle where the happiness exist.

    Besides uncertainty that's certain, there's another certainty, eventual death.

    • @calvinriley4177

      +meltingEyeballs
      As much as our illusions of life's attachments are, are attachment to life creates an illusion of death. What science is unable to explain, doesn't mean an explanation doesn't exist. Death represents your final stage of development into the next experience.

    I agree with this almost completely, but I am still really stuck on how to make peace with the fact that I might be tortured. I have a fear of a sociopath abducting me (for whatever reasons in their mind they have) and torturing me in any numerous ways. How can I make peace with this possibility at all in any way? How can I be happy with the idea of being tortured in numerous countless sadistic ways???

    • @markbrad123
      @markbrad123 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rather than panicking, buy a personal panic alarm and let it do the panicking for you. Mobiles also help.

    • @TheAmaurea
      @TheAmaurea 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why are you so afraid? Don't worry, it will most probably never happen. Go back to the source. Where this fear generated and why? But.. it could be a fear generated from another life. In this case, consider doing and hypnosis or autohypnosis session. Many things may come up and you can get rid of this fear. :Good luck

    • @opticrainbow
      @opticrainbow 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why is it bad to have fear of a possibility of something very painful, even if the likelihood is "small"?

    • @TheAmaurea
      @TheAmaurea 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      opticrainbow I'm not sure I understand, are you asking why is it bad to have fear? It's not bad if that's what you choose and want to do, but I wouldn't choose that for myself. (I am someone who has lived with the fear of being kidnapped as a child because I lived in a country where these things happened often. But I chose to stop being afraid when I was 10 no matter what, because it stopped me from living my life.. I couldn't even go out to play with my friends because I was contstantly terrrified of being taken away from my parents.) According to what I have learned (it might be wrong of course) but fear is bad because it generates more fear. We create our realities with decisions made out of love or out of fear and most of the time they are unconscious (unless we're always mindful). It's not about the likelihood.. it's about living with fear. Quoting Ajahm Brahm's words from his talk on fear: " When we're afraid, we panic and when we panic we made what we're afraid of come true." I'm not saying you'll be kidnapped or something and even if you are it will probably be so much less painful that the one you're already imagined. The advice I always give to myself is to solve the problems once they happen. If nothing is happening now yet, there's nothing to solve so I might as well not think about it at all. :)

    • @markbrad123
      @markbrad123 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't what level someone is feeling or thinking Hopefully this should cover most bases. On an mental level with or without fear: There are negative possibilities; of these,they may be irrational or rational. If irrational- just realize and affirm that whatever is safe(e.g harmless spiders). If rational there ones one can do something about(e.g, lock your door) or ones you can do nothing about(e.g. I get on a bus and it crashes) -so just accept- so what if it happens it happens- tough shit.
      From a conceptual level it is better to think in a more positive focus; for example ,I want this to be safe, rather than I don't want this to happen. Otherwise, you may be making a rumification into a negative mind set
      On an emotional level(unless it is a migraine) make friends with your emotions and tame them. - Thank you fear(from kidneys) for looking out for me, its fine now you can chill, Anger(from liver) is a bit like calming a barking dog -easy boy it will be OK. Some spiral belly massage may help to calm, tame these bringing Unity of this energy into the center(tantien).

    What horrible things most one have done when losing a child? This feels a little unsensitive towards things that happen that are beyond a speeding ticket.

    • @FallouFitness_NattyEdition
      @FallouFitness_NattyEdition 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jozina1 What seems insensitive to you about this speech?

    • @jozina1
      @jozina1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its been a while since I watched it. But I remember him talking about mundane everyday "bad" things that happen. Like getting a speeding ticket. He talks about it being a recation to somethig you have done. But when you lose a child... or some other terrible thing happens. Then how does it help to know you must have done something really bad to deserve it? And thinking that way will only make things worse.

    • @FallouFitness_NattyEdition
      @FallouFitness_NattyEdition 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jozina1 I don't think he's referring to losing a child as something a person deserves. He's referring to karma in regards to those mundane things, not losing a child, no one deserves that.
