I woke up this morning with a troubled mind and all what I wanted was peace in my mind through patience. I decided the best thing to do was to choose an appropriate topic from Ajahn Brahm & this talk helped me. Thanks Ajahn.
Thank you, your talks have helped to change my outlook to life, every time I watch them I laugh for joy and cry because I feel understand and accepted. Sadhu
Thank you Ajahn Brahm, I always end up with a big smile after listening to you and a feeling of lightness. A wonderful talk, much appreciation!! Many blessings Maya XX
I know your last talk here was on patience but I am shure a lot of people are looking forward to here a new video from Ajahn Brahm!! Thanks and all the best, carsten
Very enlightening. I looked at other information on this topic and very short complicated and sick of hearing about road rage incidents instead of more inside into mindful patients and how to learn it, before people put you in a car and see how well you manage not becoming homicidal!! Thanks for gifted guidance.
Reminds me of attempting to go to gig at Glastonbury, we got so far, starting chatting to some people, moved on, then met some other people, and started chatting to some other people and so on; hence, we missed the gig. I think its best to weigh up whether the point of a journey is not to arrive or not ? Depend whats on the agenda me thinks.
Ajahn Brahm wish I could go and visit you but I am in the USA and no money :O(. Have not work for years but trying to be patience that life will get better. I am trying to just be here and not worry about the past or the future. Nice video

@xdarkjack if you think self help and patience is not the core of Dhamma you know nothing about the Buddha or his teachings. Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration...Right Speech, Right, Action... Right Intention, Right View ... yes they can all be found in this talk. Happiness to you.
Buddhism is usually not involved with any form of divination, it doesn’t really line up with some of the teachings of letting go of desire for knowledge. I am a tarot reader myself and understand why this practice is in place. However Tibetan Buddhism has a regular practice of astrology practiced by specific monks. This probably does not come from their Buddhism but their roots in Bon tribal/shamanic religion.
funny, i was just about done with my patience of watching this and wanting to do something else, when i paused it, the video was about 5 seconds from ending, and all i saw was the monk smiling haha
how could someone dislike this video? what is the matter you you peeps? If you dont have the patience to listen to the Dhamma and learn from it then keep the negative comments or thoughts to yourself!
Mental pain is not worse than body. It's easy mental pain theirs 4giveness theirs change of thinking. Positive thoughts. When body is in pain u only have meds and most of time it doesn't work.
how can any person help them selves when they are full of sin? each year and each month and each year you only add to sin and there is no way out of sin, no matter how-much of merit you do you can not get rid of your sin's,
I believe the earth is flat, God is real, but also that what Ajahn Brahm teaches is also Godly, we should not live our lives in stress if it can be avoided at all.
I don't understand such strict restrictions (on food, TV... ) ? I mean i understand trying to stay away and have no desire for it, but to be forbidden from it completely forever?? + isn't the point to (still) have our free will ?? Does this also mean the rest of us that don't have all these restrictions 24/7 are 'sinners' and will never be able to achieve a complete state of stillness ??
your looking at Buddhism through Western eyes there is no such thing as a sin in Buddhism the reason monks restrict themselves from these things is to transcend further than our sensual desire and our bodies and transcend into the power of the mind also those TV and music are distractions from their practices
I understand that. My question was - does that mean that everybody that does not have these restrictions will NEVER achieve that state of mind than because we are constantly influenced by it all ??
Luna L no but you won't have as intense practice as them and it's more likely for them to achieve it than you it's like who is more likely to get a job someone with a higher education or someone without but it doesn't mean it's impossible also they believe that if you don't accomplish it in this life you will accomplish it in the next
You seem very angry, upset, and in despair about it all. Is there no redemption or forgiveness in your view of life? Is there no hope? Can you try to give yourself a little love and kindness? If what you say is true, why go on? And yet you do, writing comments to videos and living a life. So, there is a reason to go on, which you demonstrate. Be calm, don't despair.
I really appreciate Ajahn Brahm's talk. +++++++++++ Dear captainfalldown: I think the ecclesiastic power is just a system to control bikkhus like bureaucrat / government official. It has both good and bad side. But I'm sure many Vipassana Thai bikkhus don't cling to it. It's like you are professor but your main work is teaching. Sth like that : )
He says people don't commit suicide because of cancer 🤔my niece couldn't take her pain she went beyond being in agony. She lift herself out of bed and threw herself out building apartment. U don't know teach. Research b4 u say certain things 😢😢and may I add some cancer patients ask a friend or family member to do it for them.
"It takes time to be patient and kind, but the slower you go the faster you'll get there. Rushing slows you down" Paraphrased, obviously, but I just had to put that part in the comments

I am in my last PhD year, and it is a very stressful moment, this video makes me feel much better. Thanks Ajahn Brahm!
My deep respect and gratitude for you, Ajahn Brahm. I found you at one of my lowest point of life. Thank you.
He is so wise. I love listening to him. He helps me so much with day to day life.
I learn so much from him.....he teaches what we all need to relearn...."takes me out of my pain with his voice and words....

Very good
Patience, definitely not a strong point in my character. Best thing to do, try to memorize this wonderful talk from A - Z

Compassion
Is action to meet the need
The need of whom you seek
Who seeks you is something deep
Release your needs, before their feet
Empty what was thought of me
Feel a sense of pride
You count on me cuz i am the light
You are too but scared to shine
I am here and i will always be
Bright for all those to see
Yet when I’m all alone i wonder
Where that glimmer is for me
How come it seems I’ve got the strength
To give with guarantee
To those and those i ask for hands
To hold my heart will flee
Broke i feel robbed of love
I spoke of tragedy
In truth I’m only taking light
And shading it with grief
I am the sun beyond the leaves
That gives the trees their reach
Brilliant as i stand alone
The Stars are at my feet

A Monk isn't allowed to swim in the Ocean?
it is easier to overcome desire with age
of course an old man finds little desire
that can tempt. if one does first they should
consider it odd.
but isnt it our nature to "strech"? even learning to be patient implies waiting in the future for patience to be learned
Ppl hear only all motivational talks bt never Apply in their and others l,ife, rather waste their precious time of themselves and their family
Live 2day. 2morrow is not promised. Just know how your doing it 😎

how can any person help them selves when they are full of sin? each year and each month and each year you only add to sin and there is no way out of sin, no matter how-much of merit you do you can not get rid of your sin's,
Aim is to live a life not sin free but consciously choosing right deeds when u given a choice
haven't seen this guy for 4 years after I left to become a Christian.
Hope you read the bible since you became a Christian. That will surely turn you into an atheist!
KB Chang Hahaha still a Christian. Christian 4 life!
hope your god can save you, goodluck.

Thank You so much ... GREAT Lesson !
Thanks a lot. Great lesson.
Tremendous talk:)
Why aren't monks allowed to go into pools or hot tubs? That seems a strange stricture.
Excellent video. Thank you.

WOW !!........... This is one of the best talks by Ajahn Brahm and one of the best talks I've heard in years......

Thank you Bhante!
This isn't related to the talk but what does it mean to be compassionate? Any answers welcome :)
Good patient joke!
