Just made this and it’s awesome. Tip for anyone thinking about it - you don’t need to have pocket holes on the bottom of the support boards - just fasten them from the bottom since no one can see them anyways. Saves having to plug/sand extra holes!
I built this in about 2 hours with just a circular saw and plan on building another. One of the easiest projects the Modern Builds channel has done. Thanks for sharing this Mike!
Coming back to this a year later, and as someone who already owns Hue and a pocket hole jig, I don’t see what people are complaining about. Super useful video, dude.
I made this!!! I didn’t add the details like the relief cuts but I got so many compliments! I had a warped wood so my door doesn’t close flush, but those hinges are great! Thank you! Thank you!
I have been watching your videos for a long time and really enjoy them. I decided to take the leap and start my own channel. Thanks for the inspiration!
This is great. Need a skinny floating TV shelf. I don't like any store bought options. plus I simply need a natural pine finish look to match my recently restored pine coffee table. This might have to be my first serious project. I don't have a track saw but my shelf is about 5ft max. Will need to figure out how to use a straight edge.
Magnets in the top edge of the door to keep any slack away and these fabric or rubber nobs you put under e.g speakers to keep them from scaring the surface you putting them on to eliminate an harsh wood on wood closing sound 2 little details but they make perfection
If there is one thing I learned from this video it’s that you would make a decent weather man. That ending bit was spot on with all the hand gestures😂 Great video👍🏻

Hey mike have you ever thought about repurposing old satellite dishes to repaint and turn into lighting ? There are millions of unwanted satellite dishes on every house that you look at , of course I’m thinking of the smaller dishes like dish tv or directv. They can be used as studio lighting if you attach them to a stand, for outdoor lighting , for ambient lighting if they are faced away from people, they offer a lot of surface area to reflect light. The receiver arm can be used to point the light at the dish or a simple hole can be drilled into the center to attach the light in the center of the reflector. They could even be painted and recessed into the ceiling for a curved decorative recessed lighting I’m thinking about giving it a shot
the hinges on mine don't fully work to keep the top gap closed. It might be that my cuts are not perfect but they are still too lose. It does not look good. I will get some struts to keep the the front panel tighter.
Nice job mate. I follow both Peters along with yourself and others. I have the UJK?? drilling system sitting in it's tube but I haven't made a table. i did have an old mft1080 though and it was nice.
looks great! Just one thing, never glue LED strips straight onto wood. Always use an aluminum profile underneath to absorb the heat of the diodes, so they will last longer.
@@icamethird he says false because he is using a philips hue lightstrip that doesn’t heat up like the other types of cheap led strips/lights and don’t try to say that I’m not right because I have a philips hue lightstrip under my cabinets and they are perfectly fine
My door is not closing completely. I used the exact measurements given on the hinges but they are leaving about half an inch of open space between door and top panel. Any solutions/tips to fix this?
Such a sick build bro. Thinking about taking this same build and modifying with some Hairpin legs as I can’t truly drill into walls in my apartment. Do you think this could work with a leg system too?
Like the video, its a project I have had in mind for a while so this was a good find. Slight suggestion though.... drop the tinny off key music in the background it grates on the ears.
Hey Mike, I'm really impressed with your idea. I think I can do something similar for my home. I would like to know the weight of that sound bar you've placed on the wall unit. Just to get an idea and compare it's weight with my sound bar. Thanks in advance.

What kind of plywood is better for this ? I’m beginner so asking before making a mistake. Thx
@@-ssch for the bottom use 3/4 inch pine plywood, its cheaper and a lot harder to fuck up than birch or some other hardwood plywood.

Wow, you did that with no wood or fasteners?! That is pretty cool!
What size board did you buy originally?
How did you made that angled cut so console will hold up?
Coming back to this a year later, and as someone who already owns Hue and a pocket hole jig, I don’t see what people are complaining about. Super useful video, dude.
Wow, cool! the shape of the design is not boring
Excellent work - simple explanation -looking forward to building one myself!
Wow! That came out awesome...simple, functional, modern and gorgeous!

Simple and elegant.. Super
What spec plywood do you use? I find it hard to find material that has no voids. Thanks! Really inspired!
i think this might be my first woodworking project.. can i do the french pleat with the track saw?
came out dope!
Very nice! And great ideas! Thanks
I love your projects but I think I enjoy watching you more! LOL
I like the 45 cut to get the hidden hanger.
Nice tip on glueing the hinges and then the predrill.... I'll leave a link in the description.
Simple build with a pro look! Great stuff! Keep it coming!
and easy to install
Looks awesome, I would probably need legs on mine if I was going to put my amplifiers in that it. Emotiva !
Very Nice Idea
Very Cool project. Need to find a place for a theater room. Keep up the great work

very beautiful
Absolutely love this kind of build Mike. Think you can do more of these builds that don't require so much tools and skill set?
wow so simple and infomercial video keep it
Great job Mike!
The room turned out great man!
Nice job
Simple and perfect!
I think it would be awesome on the next build to see you build some DIY acoustic panels for this theater room, once again great job it looks great.
This is EXACTLY what I needed right now. Could not have been better timed for my problem. Thank you!
Looks absolutely beautiful 😍😍😍😍
You need to get the Hue HDMI sync box. I have it and its amazing! Gonna add this floating shelf soon!
Does the clearance fit your vacuum cleaner?
Super great video. Love that attic conversion! Video of the attic conversion would be fantastic!!!

Hey man, Been almost a year since I created the 8ft picnic table from your plans. Still super sturdy and it has a 3 tier umbrella down the center now!

This video feels like one long ad. I know TH-camrs need sponsors to support what they do, but dude this one just goes way over the top.
Looks so good - awesome design!
Awesome job Mike! 😃👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
looks great....
.................................ON MODERRRRRN BUILLLLLLDDDDDSSSSS
Where did you get those hinges? All the cab hinges at Lowe's and home Depot require a hole being drilled into the door
Wish my simple finish would show up lol great video
Hey mate - how man y screws and what size to fix cleat to wall / studs to support the cabinet?
Hey what happened to that written article?! I just want to know if you used 0.5" plywood or 0.75"
It looks like .75" plywood, but I'd like to know as well.
I just asked this question.
Size of the wood, type of wood..... nothing🙄😒😔
Yay a Phillips infomercial.
With the finish. Do you use a sealant to protect it?
Really great design and build, Mike! I've been wanting to add some LED strips to some projects and might have to give these a shot!
and simple too

Great job but I was wondering why you are using a soundbar with such a nice big screen! maybe the cabinet can't take the weight of a heavy AV?
Top billing rate 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👌
would that French cleat style mount be strong enough to put a TV on that console?
You can never go wrong w/ a Michael Scott quote in the background!

Is there any other way to make relief cut if I don’t have that tool you used ?
Where did you get the spool looking piece you hung the pendent light from?
Awesome project, thank you for sharing.
Next project!!
what did you use for the downlights?
Doesnt the led strip get very hot on the wood? I would put an aluminium strip underneath it so heat can get away
Where does the pendant light hanger from? Love it
How did you make the relief cuts?
@modernbuilds what wood are you using, details please?
