- Welcome to the East Coast! 🌴 In this special episode, we traveled to Dania Beach, Miami in search of some Atlantic shells! 🐚 Explore a giant pile of coral while seeking some unusual specimens that we don't find over here on the Gulfcoast! 🌊

How fun, amazing how different things are from coast to coast! All the plastic and trash is so heart breaking. I wish people cared more! It truly always does amaze me how one shell that is so common in one area can be such a rare treasure in another! Meaghan's store Ocean Soul is on Marco, you should definitely visit!!

The mystery shell around 5 min looks like a frond oyster, but I've never seen one that color! Been blessed to find 2 lion's paws at Lido Key (Sarasota). Love the coral pieces! Fun video! Thanks!😊

When I went to Dania the water was the most gorgeous blue I'd ever seen

You’d be surprised, many shells are very hardy!
I can't believe you found a flamingo tongue! I love flamingos and when I discovered there was a shell named flamingo, it took everything I had not to purchase off Etsy. Although, I don't really go anywhere to find them you can always dream. I did recently purchase one made into a bracelet ....if you go back to the area and find more I would love to purchase a couple from you!
Hi Tracy! I remember when I found one on Marco Island when I was a kid. I had NO IDEA at the time how rare they were, I just liked that it was called a flamingo (I've always been a little flamingo obsessed lol) and didn't really understand why because it wasn't pink, or did it look like a tongue! haha I'm planning a trip back over soon and will definitely keep you posted!!

@@virtualshelling Thank you for mentioning you found one on Marco. I have a day trip planned with one of the local tours down there for the 10,000 islands in June...maybe my flamingo tongue will find me that day!! I didn't know if I would be south enough. Saw the Marco shell show and thought that was really cool! Have a great day!

The spiky ones are in the Spondylidae family (Thorny Oysters) and the blunter ones that look misshapen are in the Chamidae family (Jewel Box clams)

Thanks for watching, we had a blast! All beaches are different and it really depends on the tides and weather, as well as beach restoration. This entire beach was restored not long after we were there, and now has nothing on it!

No, just sand!
What day was this? Like, recently?
This was 2021! The beach has been renourished since then, looks completely different now!

Are the coffee bean shells cowry shell?
Great question! They're considered a "false cowrie". They closely resemble cowries, but their ridges are what sets them apart!

Not in this area, shark teeth are more found in the rivers or on the west coast in the sarasota area!
I’ve enjoyed your channel but when you were digging through all those’d shells you ignored the trash and left it there. That’s a problem. Please pick up the trash!
The amount of trash, sadly is so excessive that it’s impossible to pick it all up. We had BAGS of trash we threw away. But it’s literally a dump site. We did do our part and remove a large amount of trash…as I ALWAYS do 🙂
