I have just discovered my newest obsession is shells. I’m 17, not a typical teenager and living in the middle of the UK. It suddenly makes me want t cry when I see this beautiful beach and so many others in Florida’s coasts, compared to the wasteland shale or rocky beaches of British coasts. I would come home with BUCKETS FULL from a beach like this! Yet you can pick and choose because you live so close! My dream is to afford a place in Florida one day. Until then I’ll sit at home and watch you shell in envy 😪🐚
The hardest part about watching you in a huge shell pile like this is just dying to reach through the screen and get some of the shells that you don't grab!!!
Two years ago I had the opportunity to shell on Bowman’s Beach and the shells were like this, so deep you couldn’t hardly get to the bottom. I have so many tinies because of that trip. I just sat on the shell pile for hours....great memories.

I'm in Oregon and we don't have those kind of shells here. I'm about an hour and a half from the beach and we spend most of our time rockhounding. Agates petrified wood and Jasper are what most people are looking for including me lol. I really been enjoying shelling videos today. Now that is the way I remember Sanibel! It was my Grandma Hester's most favorite place. We would go with them for a week or two back in the late 70's. Finally did a trip down in July 2020 for my Birthday. I hadn't been in 15-20 years. We limited our time but still got sunburned. Had hoped for more shells, but we walked until we found a decent spot. It's hard to hear you walk on them. Wish I was there, it looks like so much fun! I like the big clam shells for soap dishes. They'd make great gifts with a little scented soap tied in one!
@@kit2130 Great, isn't !. I can almost smell the salt air !. P.S. there is a trick to keeping shell soap dishes level. It involves gluing a ring on the bottom side of your bivalve half. I would also think a plastic shower ring would work just to steady it on. Also, My family has a red abalone (African?). It has several pearly blue bumps in the surface. I heard they are abalone pearls. They have to "cut" these out...not like loose pearls. That one shell tells such a life history and probably lived 40 years. (Oyster drills likely killed it). My Daughter and I were there for the first time during the week of Hurricane Eta. We found some really nice shells in front of our condo. Being overzealous, I wanted to go to another part of the Island. We were told about Bowmans Beach. We had the best time just searching thru the shell piles. Because we arrived after dark, I was not aware where Blind Pass and Turners Beach were. I am a lot like you about the scallops, I had a very, very hard time leaving them on the beach. We have a better understanding of the different areas after being there. I enjoy your videos. Not sure how I'm going to last until next year to shell there again.
