This is so weird to me, seeing an ADHDer who finds time blocking helpful. To me, time blocking has always felt like a tool that neurotypicals invented to magically fix ADHD. I have near-zero ability to: switch to what the time block tells me I should be doing; estimate the time required for a task; avoid notifications for tasks from fading away into the background; stop one task and move to another at the designated time; or mentally cope with the despondency that sets in when I get to the end of the day and have to push out 80% of my time blocks because they didn't happen.
Your experience is super valid and I am living in similar situations. I think time blocking can be altered in the way it is practiced to be more ADHD friendly over just regular scheduling. But you have to meet yourself where you are and it sounds like you're doing that so good job (:
Doesn't work for my particular flavour of neurodivergence either, but I'm PDA autistic so generally anything that feels controlling is a no-go. I get around it by making a worry list instead of a To do list, then I write under each item if there's anything I can do to alleviate that worry - and that becomes my to do list. It feels like it's my own choice + every time you cross something off you feel relieved. It's something I came up with when I realised demand avoidance is rooted in anxiety so I was like "ok I'm gonna make anxiety work for me then". I can't guarantee it will help you as well, but you're welcome to take the idea and give it a try ❤
I have always struggled with time blocking, not having any idea how long tasks actually take, and getting paralyzed wondering where to block time do do certain things. Plus, I need the structure, but as soon as my calendar says it is time to do something, my brain wants to do ANYTHING but what is on the calendar, even if it is something I love to do.
SAME. I simply can't do time blocking because of this. The best I've come up with so far to get tasks done is routine stacking, prioritizing very specific things to be strict about (work) with special attention to transitioning into it and then my newest experiment... So we all have all the lists right? Then consider getting ANY of it done is better than nothing. So, I make it random. There's a "spinner" app you can customize. You can also number your list and roll dice (D12s are helpful here 😅). I number rooms for roll one, then tasks in each room for roll 2 for example. Still working on actually using these ideas, but so far I like it.
@@itswadever I am so glad I am not the only one who struggles with this. My logical brain understands time blocking and it seems efficient, but my ADHD self spends a ton of time trying to decide what to block when and then when it is time to do those things it decides it wants to do anything but those things. I have had some success with a spinner app as well. I might have to invest in fancy dice for another option.
I find an app called routineflow helpful for me, you can set a time for your routine to start but you don't have to, just set tasks and the time to allocate to it. Then when you press start routine, it only shows one thing at a time and I don't get overwhelmed, and even when I feel unmotivated, when I start the routine and the countdown starts it motivates me to start straight away! It's changed my life, I put my to do lists on there as well not just daily routines
I've tried time blocking, and for me it's super stressful because 1) my chronic illnesses make the times I am and am not able to do things unpredictable, 2) I often underestimate how much time I need, even when I try to overestimate, and 3) I get very stressed if I get even ten minutes behind schedule. It seems to work for a lot of people who don't have these issues, though!
Check out Clutterbug advice on planning, time management, etc. I don't have chronic illness bu I am in chronic pain which also affects this greatly and I understand you. Cas from Clutterbug has a work around this for people like us (her included) who just can't stick to strict times and epectations. You can still time-block but very loosely and more generally than showed in this video. I think it is going to work for me, its how meal planning works for me, too. I could never pick all my meals for the whole week ahead of time and would get overwhelmed even trying to, and would def not stick to it. But I do what I call "loose" meal planning and I just plan 2-3 meals for the week instead of all 7 and make a list of possible meals and then pick what I feel like, kind of like a menu. Some of us need to honor how dependent our choices are onour mood and energy levels.
Something that works for me with multiple different chronic illnesses is to schedule 60-70% of my energy levels for a day. Doing it day by day for long enough to get a feel for how much I can do without crashing down into recovery mode for days after a time of intense doing, teaches me how much I could have in my days and weeks for the next few weeks to try. Then when I try that again I experiment and see if I can tweak it from there and do what the experiment suggests. Tweak sooner if I am exhausted or not challenged enough.
this is why i use todoist (which sends items to google cal and deletes them when done) and work on a weekly basis as much as possible. that seems to be enough time for me ("it should get done this week") to reschedule as needed for capacity but still enough urgency and focus for my adhd
Like your content. Thanks for posting. I noticed as you were clicking around in your calendar that you had the address of the yoga studio where you go. As a software engineer with some cybersecurity training you probably want to hide that if at all possible. Thanks again for your content it's been super helpful.
Man, my pda DOES NOT allow me to do this. The moment I set out a schedule for myself, my brain goes "you can't tell me what to do" and I just completely ignore it >v< It's SO frustrating.
Same here 😢 It has me wondering if I'll ever achieve any of my goals. How do you do things if you resent being "told" to do them.... By yourself? If anyone has any tips at all whatsoever, you could change my life by sharing them 💓
my son has this. Raising him has been tough, but his life is going to be hard. I think he can meet his OWN demands though. ALthough, nothing has panned out yet.
Hi, Hayley! I'm Mariana, I'm from Brazil and was diagnosed as audhd last January. I just wanted to say that your videos are really helping me in this new journey of self-acceptance. The honeyman method for routines based on our energy during the day really changed my life. And I also love how sincere you are about everything, such as your messy room or the fact of being a bath avoider. I used to feel so ashamed of myself the days I wasn't able to take a shower, wash the dishes or vacuum the floor... thanks to your videos I don't feel alone anymore and now I know there's nothing wrong with me, it's just my brain that works differently, and I'm learning to accept it and love it. You're my new favorite TH-camr hahaha. Thank you ❤
Time blocking sounds soooo daunting not going to lie - I feel like too much structure overwhelms me but I do need structure 😭😭😭😭 why is life so hard to navigate
For me personally curating a nice calendar even with many steps helps because it takes load off my brain and eliminates the need for remembering, which is often the biggest stressor!
I feel so seen 😭 This was me all through high school and college and now into work. When I first started learning about adhd towards the end of college I thought it couldn’t apply to me because I was TOO organized and didn’t ‘lose my keys or run late to mtgs’ like the adhd questionnaires ask. But I had made this meticulous system to compensate for my brain. THANK YOU for making this video!! 😭🥰
Yess exactly, I wish ppl wouldn’t put so much emphasis on things like that cuz if you seem to have the opposite tendencies you’re like, well then there’s no way I could possibly have ADHD. But you can have so many subtle symptoms hiding under the surface. Just got diagnosed & couldn’t believe it at first. But then I did a lot of digging & self reflection & it explains SO MUCH now of why I’m the way I am, it has truly been a lightball moment for my life
I just time blocked my whole month and realized over and over that when I used to throw things in my calendar with just “all day” instead of specific times I would plan my time completely unrealistically 😂 I feel so much better with a grounded idea of what I have time for this is going to change my life I can already tell
QUESTION- I find after a certain point, notifications fade into the background. I can only have so many alarms etc before I just start auto silencing them. OR if I do a layered system like described here, then it's very easy to get overwhelmed/over stimulated by the constant notifications. Thoughts? (This system I'd awesome though! Still SUPER helpful 😊)
Something I've done is limit the number of apps I'm receiving notifications from. My calendar app, messaging app, and email app are the only ones I allow to notify me. It helps a little. Also if you can add sound to the notifications, having different sounds for different apps/events/activities/etc can be helpful
Had to comment - thank you for being one of the few creators that give actual tips, hacks and solutions for living with ADHD. I appreciate all ND content, but now that I'm past my diagnosis phase, I super appreciate creators that share what works for them. Because after 46 years of not understanding why everything was so damned hard, I'm so ready to dive into actually helping myself (and my ND teen) make things easier/more functional. So thanks and please never doubt that what you are doing is so very helpful to so many people! ❤
Subbed. You’re helping me out a great deal. As a middle aged woman newly diagnosed with ADHD it’s been cumbersome to digest what is happening with me. Not to mention handling tasks and organizing them. 😌 I swear you’re a God send.
Another feature in Gmail that helps me remind about e-mails that require action is the snooze-option. You will get the e-mail on top of your inbox again at a later time that you choose. Also, for Outlook there's the pin-option that let's e-mails stay at the top of your inbox. I sometimes use that as a sort of to-do list
If you’re someone who likes using a physical planner but also really likes time blocking/vertical layout, I’ve been using the Bloom vision planners for the past three years (any sort of appointment style planner works too) Then write your tasks on small sticky notes in different colors for different categories and decide where to place them based on timing/ visual space. You can use bigger sticky notes to take up more space, write down static plans directly in the planner, and most importantly, JUST MOVE THE STICKY NOTE IF YOU MISS SOMETHING!! I find it super flexible and aesthetic to be using a planner not on my computer. Keep in mind though that if you need a phone reminder for a task that you’ll have to go and input that separately- that’s really the main downside I’ve had.
I don't need to use my computer most days, so this style of online/digital planning isn't always the best for me. I will forget I need to open my computer/check an app to see what I've planned to do 😅 My current system is a simple notebook that sits *open* next to my bed, with a pen, at all times. I have a super minimalistic weekly spread that takes up both pages (just skeychy lines with dates and maybe a quote/tarot thingy for pizzazz). It's super low pressure and is always there for me to consult throughout the day and edit easily (because of the Mandatory Pen). I normally leave 6 lines for each day so I can't overwork myself but still have space for all my chores/shifts/classes. Respecting that notebook space has also kept my nightstand and general bed-area cleaner! My only exception is the Google calendar app. She is my best friend. I have a homescreen dedicated to exclusively to a massive calendar widget and related apps (work, yoga classes, etc) and I have different notifications set on my calendars (accounting for different travel times to work/studio/event locations, as well as a "start to start getting ready" alert).
For me the digital calendar isn’t great cuz it gets buried with all the other notifications & apps flooding my phone it just isn’t noticeable enough or blends in with the other endless notes & tasks that I just procrastinate it
@ilovenycsomuch I think it works for me because I'm super restrictive with what notifications I allow from my apps. I find I get super overwhelmed by them, so I only enable what's really important to me. Hope you've got a system that works for you! 💗
@@Ummuri2000 id like to limit mine more some day. The biggest problem is the emails. I get endless spam but I don’t wanna miss any emails I do care about. Especially since I’m unemployed & job searching. Still on the system journey!
Hi Hayley! I really love your content and your personality! I was wondering if you could do another body doubling video again. Those videos are a total lifesaver and comforting and cozy as well!
*Chef's kiss* This is perfect!! I just finished reading the 12 week year and was immediately overwhelmed by how my ADHD Brain was going to do it! Lol I currently am using google Calendar and Asana. I can't wait to integrate everything in one place!
I always say that if it's not in my Google calendar, then I won't be there. I live by it. Period. Problems usually arise when it comes to integrating my work/home stuff. I am really excited to try this new system. Thank you!
i agree with everyone in the comments- time blocking is soooo daunting and dysregulating for me too. what has been working for me though: 1. having a finite to do list (0-5 tasks big tasks in a day at max depending on energy levels and mood) 2. making sure at least 50% of those tasks are fun/enjoyable or neutral to do to balance out the harder ones 3. Pomodoro-ing the heck out of these tasks with longer breaks to eat, nap, go outside (aka doing something replenishing for energy) 4. Having a pre-decided time to end my 'work' day based on energy level and holding up my own boundary with that Lmk what helped you :)
I love timeblocking, but what I really miss is being able to schedule 1 thing and the system automatically scheduling in standard tasks around it. Like preparing for a meeting or writing down notes afterwards. Now that would really be a gamechanger for me!
it's unfortunate that there aren't more tools like this available for those who can't afford $20-$35 per month... every "hack" i've seen lately is just something else to buy. isnt the point of stuff like this to stop losing money buying planners/other organizational tools that you won't use? a week long free trial isnt nearly long enough to know if a system is working for me. it's just the planner issue digitized. we need more accessible systems.
Oh I will be needing it easpecially now as I have my matura (smth like finals) exam for ending my highschool AND to make my portfolio for Univerisities of Fine Arts. Can't wait!
i always love when you upload, even if it's just to put you up in the bg and listen while i'm doing something else and rewatch the video later to actually absorb the information. you're changing my life one video at a time!
I use the technique of different calendars for 15 years in my iCloud calendar too. Works great. I have one for private - work - birthdays- my grandma - info. The main reason I did it that way, is that I could hide some calendars if I didn’t need them at that time. The adding of tasks in the calendar is something I wished for years, never understood why iCloud did this as a different app. I hope they will evolve to that too
See I don't think the time blocking will work for me My brain will actively work against it I have pathological demand avoidance on top of ADHD and being on the spectrum. Whenever I've done time blocking I have literally done even more to not do The thing I'm supposed to do. This drives me nuts The demand avoidance thing is infuriating. I'm supposed to draw tattoo for a friend of mine she needs it by June it would take me 5 minutes to draw it but my brain won't let me do it until it's the exact right time and the moon and stars and planets are all in the perfect alignment at least that's what it feels like. But if it wasn't a commission with a deadline I bet you it would be done by now
Thanks to this I'm now thinking about solving this problem for myself working on multiple businesses plus my personal todos - it gets crazy trying to track them all in different places. I still love my Notion since I don't have to time block (still can't figure out how long tasks take) but linking to tasks in other places is not cutting it...
thats my problem too :') i hate when a solution preaches ease of access and then proceeds to not be accessible in the slightest... this would be so helpful for university but no student i know could afford this
I have ADHD + time blindness and time blocking DOES NOT work for me. It's too much work for me to predict how long things will take. So I just use a checklist instead. So take the advice in this video with a grain of salt and don't feel too bad if this doesn't work for you. Hayley, we still appreciate all the work you put into this video!
Nope. not for me. I hate timeblocking with deep passion. It overwhelmed me and it constrains me too much so I get stressed and give up in a week. Soft timing things is the way to go for me. So I have a few "must be done at that time" itens, a few "must be done whatever time today" and some "can be done anytime today or this week". Also, I love using stationary so paper planner for me please and thank you. I may forget my wallet but my notebook (where planer is) and pencil case go with me everywhere.
Hi everyone, I am new here. I have been watching stuff on much faster than normal speeds. I was "happy" to see here that others do it too. I suppose that it's validation to myself? It's helpful to try and process/figure this stuff out here.
this is way too pricey. I can add a reminders for every calender in google already. I will ask Google if they could integrate a feature to drag and drop Tasks from their app directly into their calender. but you are amazing, awesome and I also have the same kind of time blocking method at hand. and Akiflow does not work with the apps from school our kids visit nor would I personally love to integrate working apps with a private app.
Google actually have apps that integrate with the calendar. Both Google task (I think that is the English name of the app) and Google Keep, that is a note app. I am also pretty sure that Gmails integrate with the calendar, I just don't know how, because I don't use my Gmail.
You are doing a lot of ADHD conent lately. I have ADHD but I also think I might be autistic. Can you do more/another video about this AuDHD topic? Like for me I have a lot of paradox symptoms, that always fight with each other. Like wanting routine and hating routine/finding it soo hard to maintain it. Wanting to be social but being exhausted immediately and wanting to get out of the social situation as soon as possible. Stuff like that. I still have a lot of problems because advices for ADHD might not work perfectly and advices for autism might not work perfectly on it's own. 😵💫Therapist finding it hard to believe me and therefore give me advices for depression and those mostly won't work at all. I feel like I am a mess.
I find audhd really interesting. The most important point from what I understand about it is to find a way to balance over and understimulation, to avoid burn out/regression long term. Your brain needs you to learn what it likes. Things get worse when you head into burnout, then it’s time for serious recovery!
I had a therapist who did pretty much the same thing. One reason why I no longer go to therapy. It did help me a lot over the years, but the second I mentioned thinking I might have autism they shut me down immediately--they seemed to think it was just because I'd started watching videos about it. But I have the same issue of symptoms that fight with each other all the time, especially when it comes to routines. There are other things as well, such as special interests and hyperfixations, inability to read social cues sometimes, and emotional/communication shutdowns. Tbh, I think the therapists in my area (rural northwest Georgia) don't know enough about autism to be of any real help. I was lucky to get my ADHD diagnosis. They seemed to stay focused on my depression and anxiety more than anything else, too. Mom on the Spectrum, The Neurocuriosity Club, and I'm Autistic Now What? are some good channels to check out that talk about both ADHD and autism. Mom on the Spectrum is the one that got me started down the I-might-be-autistic road. I Am MindBlind is another one I started watching recently. Hope these help!
Same. I have multiple tab groups (currently 14) with about 80 tabs in each of them, so that’s over a thousand tabs. Besides that I have multiple notes in which I save links to websites (tabs I closed because I will look at it later). And this is just on my tablet, on my laptop it’s the same thing all over again. It’s chaos and I will have to sort through it all someday. Been procrastinating forever and it’s only getting more chaotic 🌈 I don’t have adhd though, I’m just autistic and almost all the tabs are related to my interest or to research for an assignment I’m working on (since I got to know it all before putting the info together, cons of being a perfectionist and focusing too much on details) ✨
THIS!!! I had to pause and scroll through the comments to see if anyone else had zoned in on the open tabs like I did 😂 Yes, the content is relatable and helpful, but THOSE TABS? I feel so seen 😂😂😂
I totally have a Basket of them. Lol! 🤣 I didn't know what I would like. Then I got some cheap white out pens and paper labels to cover up the dates of planners, so I could use those on a later date/ year...yes I feel a little bit insane. Oh well! I don't have to buy planners for like a decade now. 🤣🤣🤣💖
Okay a word of advice here having studied a lot of Executive Function issues for people who are neurodiverse as an obsessive interest as an autistic/combi ADHD. Your system it works for you, does not mean that it will work for everyone. I cannot watch anymore of this video after almost 3 minutes in. You are trying to sell something that works for you thinking it will work for everyone else. Bullet journaling works for some for awhile, google calendar or another online calendar works for others, a predated or undated planner for others. The thing is your claim that this one Carl Newport method of time blocking is what will work for every ADHD is a logical fallacy.. We will use a system, until the dopamine mining we were getting from it wears off, and then we will switch to a new system, or cycle through a system we abandoned awhile ago because it is new again.
Time blocking really works for me at work, but my job looks at my calendar to set meetings. Even if I mark my time as “free” my coworkers get frustrated because they feel like I’m too busy. I use google tasks to keep track of everything I have to do and I like to link the tasks to my google calendar, but I can’t time block on my calendar anymore. Do you have any alternative suggestions I can use?
This is Android only, but I use an app called Timetune that allows you to timeblock, and even create templates that you can copy to other days. I have the free version, but there is a paid membership that bridges the gap with Google Calendar by showing your Google events in the Timetune app (and not the other way around iirc) I recently switched to this because I have a lot of very similar days and it took too much effort to set up the repetition of each individual block in Google Calendar.
Does this also work for additional calendars like Outlook? I can see everything in my Samsung calendar and use my Google calendar too. For work I have 2 seperate emails and would love if this made it easier to see it all in one place and not have to go back and forth between 3 places.
I already have a solid planning system in place...although it takes a bit of a work-around because one of the things I use is still in a beta/early development (I use a combination of Todoist and Goblin Tools)...my current issue is actually "doing the things". I guess I watched this video in hopes of finding something to make my weekly planning more streamlined? or to help with the whole "not being able to do the thing"? idk...either way this tool looks pretty cool and I wish I wasn't already so established with my current system. I also wish this one wasn't so expensive :(
This advise could be super on the nose but what helps me is rewarding myself for every single hard things I'm doing. Like calls e. g. I hate them and I put them off forever. I still have to create a list for myself about some rewards I could give myself because drinking more than two coffee a day is not good for me. 😂 You could try to reward yourself after every hour or every two hours of work. Hope this helps.
i've noticed that i tend to just clear all my push notifications when they pile up without reading them, alas. does akiflow have audio notifications/alarms too?
K query - and maybe I'm just dumb and don't know how to do this - but does anyone know how to combine different calendars to Google calendar? I have different online calendars for personal, work, and school and it's just getting overwhelming.
I have a serious question... Ok so I have been watching your videos and indulging myself in making graphics that help me which I named it the "Audhd Menu Collection". (Theres menus for mostly everything and most of it is what I got out of your videos but... im wondering about one thing: How can we keep a structure routine when we are at a friends or spiritual families house for a week or two? Cause when I am at my house I can do the menu collection no problem, but when I am at my spiritual families house It gets really wacky. Like I think because Im here I don't know what to expect so I do nothing until one of the family members wants to do something with me. But yah, I want to perfect the system I have been doing and it works great just now when I am at someone's house.
you know an adhd video is legit, when the person doesn't spend much time on the intro because they know their audience, and then even reminds you that you can watch the video in 1.5x speed (as if my cursor wasn't already hovering over the settings icon).
How many TABS.... You are competing with me 😆 I could put a workout in a calendar... Would I be motivated to attend it though....🤣 Unless it is super important or fun activity.
Anybody here work as in interior design / decorating or have their own business and recommend a site/ app that also connects with Google or just is easy for your adhd brain…. Asking for a friend
What? Lol firstly, I only promote what I have tested, loved and truly believe will help other people like me. Two, this is my job, I’ve got bills to pay! 99% of my content is free. Please try to be nicer and don't run great creators like Hayley off the platform! There are lots of people, myself included, who can benefit from this.
Like other viewers, I have a hard time with time blocking because I don’t know how long a task is going to take me and when it’s time to do it, my brain panics and I postponed EVERYTHING!!! Also, seeing so many tasks to be done in one day, brings me almost immediately into paralysis 🥲 Yet, I know I need structure but this system overwhelms me sadly. I don’t know what to do😅

I have this problem too! I hate Past Me telling Now Me what to do. 😂
Same here 😢
It has me wondering if I'll ever achieve any of my goals.
Thank you ❤
oiiii
As an auDHDer with demand avoidance, time blocking feels like a nightmare lol
Time blocking sounds soooo daunting not going to lie - I feel like too much structure overwhelms me but I do need structure 😭😭😭😭 why is life so hard to navigate
This system has SO MANY STEPS! How do you have the executive function to do all these steps just to make a schedule??! Props, but also, damn.
For me personally curating a nice calendar even with many steps helps because it takes load off my brain and eliminates the need for remembering, which is often the biggest stressor!
If you can't afford this, you can build something similar for yourself in Notion! ❤️
Do you have any recommended videos or articles about setting up similar?
Google calander is also an option.
AKIFLOW has a free version as well that connects to notion!
@@hayley.honeymanthat’s great! Do you know where to find it? When I look up akiflow and notion it still tries to get me to select a payment plan
@@hayley.honeyman how to get the free version??
I ignore the time blocks -- the reminders become like wallpaper. I don’t notice them.
Literally me 😂
I feel so seen 😭 This was me all through high school and college and now into work.
Different sounds is definitely helpful. I think I should probably pair down apps too. Youre 100% right 😂. Thank you!@erikak21
@@erikak21this is actually a really helpful tip thanks
This does look amazing but $19/mo is insane ✋🏽😭
Had to comment - thank you for being one of the few creators that give actual tips, hacks and solutions for living with ADHD. I appreciate all ND content, but now that I'm past my diagnosis phase, I super appreciate creators that share what works for them. Because after 46 years of not understanding why everything was so damned hard, I'm so ready to dive into actually helping myself (and my ND teen) make things easier/more functional. So thanks and please never doubt that what you are doing is so very helpful to so many people! ❤
I find it so hilarious that everytime I’m struggling with a problem, Hayley pops up and I’m like “OMG RHIS IS AMAZING”
I could feel my eyes crossing during this video. the overwhelm. I'm just not there yet.
Subbed. You’re helping me out a great deal. As a middle aged woman newly diagnosed with ADHD it’s been cumbersome to digest what is happening with me. Not to mention handling tasks and organizing them. 😌 I swear you’re a God send.
The most relatable thing is the 25 tabs open
Looking for this comment😂
Another feature in Gmail that helps me remind about e-mails that require action is the snooze-option. You will get the e-mail on top of your inbox again at a later time that you choose.
Also, for Outlook there's the pin-option that let's e-mails stay at the top of your inbox. I sometimes use that as a sort of to-do list
If you’re someone who likes using a physical planner but also really likes time blocking/vertical layout, I’ve been using the Bloom vision planners for the past three years (any sort of appointment style planner works too)
Then write your tasks on small sticky notes in different colors for different categories and decide where to place them based on timing/ visual space.
I will forget I need to open my computer/check an app to see what I've planned to do 😅
My current system is a simple notebook that sits *open* next to my bed, with a pen, at all times.
Yes definitely sometime soon!!
Mind blown🤯 I do EVERYTHING through google including all art projects/ Etsy plans... Downloading for tablet and using it .ADHD brain is in awe
"how many planners do you have" ma'am you didn't need to come for me like that 😭🤣
Fantastical is also able to show to do's/tasks in the calendar and is a little more affordable. Also syncing several mail accounts works pretty good.
*Chef's kiss* This is perfect!! I just finished reading the 12 week year and was immediately overwhelmed by how my ADHD Brain was going to do it! Lol
I currently am using google Calendar and Asana. I can't wait to integrate everything in one place!
I always say that if it's not in my Google calendar, then I won't be there. I live by it. Period. Problems usually arise when it comes to integrating my work/home stuff. I am really excited to try this new system. Thank you!
i agree with everyone in the comments- time blocking is soooo daunting and dysregulating for me too. what has been working for me though:
1. having a finite to do list (0-5 tasks big tasks in a day at max depending on energy levels and mood)
2. making sure at least 50% of those tasks are fun/enjoyable or neutral to do to balance out the harder ones
3. Pomodoro-ing the heck out of these tasks with longer breaks to eat, nap, go outside (aka doing something replenishing for energy)
4. Having a pre-decided time to end my 'work' day based on energy level and holding up my own boundary with that
Lmk what helped you :)
Get creative, use your notes on your phone and create your own that’s what I do
Oh I will be needing it easpecially now as I have my matura (smth like finals) exam for ending my highschool AND to make my portfolio for Univerisities of Fine Arts. Can't wait!
i always love when you upload, even if it's just to put you up in the bg and listen while i'm doing something else and rewatch the video later to actually absorb the information. you're changing my life one video at a time!
Ooh I’m excited! It’s also my first time tuning in, I’ve been wanting a video on this :)
I hope they will evolve to that too
In IOS 18 tasks and reminders will be integrated! I saw it somewhere in a video from someone using the beta version of IOS 18.
This looks so promising, but I can't justify $20- $35/mo. Disappointing that there isn't a free version past 7 day trial.
Thank you for sharing your strategy! It is so helpful to have you talk through how you organize your day!
Ok I made a schedule...now how do I follow it ._.
I feel betrayed! I was so so so excited to try just to find out $19/months or $34/months... 😭
This sounds so perfect but $34 dollars a month… 😭
You can do something similar in Google calendar.
thats my problem too :') i hate when a solution preaches ease of access and then proceeds to not be accessible in the slightest... this would be so helpful for university but no student i know could afford this
I have ADHD + time blindness and time blocking DOES NOT work for me. It's too much work for me to predict how long things will take. So I just use a checklist instead. So take the advice in this video with a grain of salt and don't feel too bad if this doesn't work for you. Hayley, we still appreciate all the work you put into this video!
I literally watched this whole video and still didn’t process it…thank you adhd brain
Nope.
You have the best timing! I needed something like this!
YAY!!
Wow! I’m hoping to ask my company to pay for this for me as an accommodation! Wish me luck. 🤞
I'm a new watcher, just subscribed a few days ago, and caught a live already!
Hi everyone, I am new here. I have been watching stuff on much faster than normal speeds. I was "happy" to see here that others do it too. I suppose that it's validation to myself? It's helpful to try and process/figure this stuff out here.
bestie we have the same akko tokyo keyboard slayyyy also tysm for sharing this because i am so sick of adhd destroying my life.
Where’d you get your red matching set?? It’s so cute and looks so comfy 😍
On the app I change the colour to represent tasks / categories instead of having different calendars
this is way too pricey.
All those notification in your event details IS MY LIFE! 😅😅😅
I use undated paper planners, and I rotate with electronic based on my needs and stress.
Damn, all those open tabs. Your browser looks like my browser on any given day since I first owned a computer XD
Been procrastinating forever and it’s only getting more chaotic 🌈
I don’t have adhd though, I’m just autistic and almost all the tabs are related to my interest or to research for an assignment I’m working on (since I got to know it all before putting the info together, cons of being a perfectionist and focusing too much on details) ✨
my thought the first seconds of the video: i need to close my browser tabs 🤣😭🐝✨
I love the adhd-tabs xD
THIS!!! I had to pause and scroll through the comments to see if anyone else had zoned in on the open tabs like I did 😂
Yes, the content is relatable and helpful, but THOSE TABS? I feel so seen 😂😂😂
I totally have a Basket of them. Lol! 🤣 I didn't know what I would like. Then I got some cheap white out pens and paper labels to cover up the dates of planners, so I could use those on a later date/ year...yes I feel a little bit insane. Oh well! I don't have to buy planners for like a decade now. 🤣🤣🤣💖
Thanks u, i need to try it, because I am not able to make scheduling like this now, but i want, and i hope I'll be ^-^
This is really really cool. But I will never buy this! So so expensive! Not ok actually! 👎👎👎
"You LOVE to be organized but rarely are" 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Can Akiflow be used to integrate Outlook calendar into Google/Akiflow?
Yes! I am totally integrated into the Microsoft ecosystem!
Akiflow seems nice i hope i am able to properly use it.
I love that baby yoda/grogu plushie is it like an emotional support plushie?
This is an infomercial.
I have the free version, but there is a paid membership that bridges the gap with Google Calendar by showing your Google events in the Timetune app (and not the other way around iirc)
I recently switched to this because I have a lot of very similar days and it took too much effort to set up the repetition of each individual block in Google Calendar.
Does this also work for additional calendars like Outlook? I can see everything in my Samsung calendar and use my Google calendar too. For work I have 2 seperate emails and would love if this made it easier to see it all in one place and not have to go back and forth between 3 places.
It sure does!!
Bahaha... tells me to watch a video at 1.5x speed as if i dont already watch every video like this 🤣😅
Even if i do this calendar i will not use it, i know
i've noticed that i tend to just clear all my push notifications when they pile up without reading them, alas. does akiflow have audio notifications/alarms too?
K query - and maybe I'm just dumb and don't know how to do this - but does anyone know how to combine different calendars to Google calendar? I have different online calendars for personal, work, and school and it's just getting overwhelming.
I’m struggling just to stay focused on a task right now. I have some free time and I just can’t do anything. It’s driving me mad
Thank you for the 1.5x time speed
I have a serious question...
Ok so I have been watching your videos and indulging myself in making graphics that help me which I named it the "Audhd Menu Collection". (Theres menus for mostly everything and most of it is what I got out of your videos but... im wondering about one thing:
How can we keep a structure routine when we are at a friends or spiritual families house for a week or two?
Cause when I am at my house I can do the menu collection no problem, but when I am at my spiritual families house It gets really wacky. Like I think because Im here I don't know what to expect so I do nothing until one of the family members wants to do something with me.
But yah, I want to perfect the system I have been doing and it works great just now when I am at someone's house.
$30+ a month!!! Are you kidding me?
you know an adhd video is legit, when the person doesn't spend much time on the intro because they know their audience, and then even reminds you that you can watch the video in 1.5x speed (as if my cursor wasn't already hovering over the settings icon).
(also don't trust anyone who has less than 10 tabs open at any given time)
How many TABS....
I feel so seen and heard that someone else lives from Google calendar!!

Seriously. This is not a solution. She does not believe in it coz she likes it. She believes in it coz she's paid to it.
Ironically, the music in the background is very distracting to me!
Doesn't everyone watch content at 1.5 speed? Cannot even imagine listening to everything at "normal" speed.
More like 2x speed 😂
Of course this had to be an advertisement 😑 this girl only promotes what benefits her.
What? Lol firstly, I only promote what I have tested, loved and truly believe will help other people like me. Two, this is my job, I’ve got bills to pay! 99% of my content is free. If you don’t want to watch the advertisements then don’t. No need to hate on someone helping other people. Sending you love and hope you come around to kindness 💛
Please try to be nicer and don't run great creators like Hayley off the platform! There are lots of people, myself included, who can benefit from this.
Do you expect a creator to promote things that... *don't* benefit them? This comment is wild
Yep, if it benefits her it might also benefit other people. That is a good thing.
Not at all. She only promotes things that work for her and could work for others and improve their quality of life.
I don’t know what to do😅
Google Calendar girlies UNITE!
I can't focus enough to learn this.......😮 🙈🫥🫥🫥
