4-6 weeks is fine when your starting in the first 7ish months, personally I went and only every 2 months. Should probably try to stretch it out a bit more, yeah.
That’s what I do but I’m going to slow down at 9 months in I’m at 7 I go every month roughly every first week or last week of a month I know when I wash that new growth be in there
You are not supposed to get a retwist every month because it puts too much stress on your hair and scalp. When you first start your loc journey it's okay because you need your hair to tighten and lock up. When I first started. I was getting it retwisted every 2 to 3 weeks but now I usually get them retwisted every 3 to 4 months.
@@leflexican look at his scalp. You can see balding areas. People who get dreads don't understand the risks of alopecia.. 4c hair is thicker and have best chance getting retwist due to density... Give it time, he will be balding soon enough.
@@xbox489a lot of people aren’t seeing how the retwist look compared to the freeform look makes your scalp look thin. You either accept it or you don’t. to a lot of people this look is normal anyway so i say don’t worry but you have to leave them alone at some point or they won’t thicken up.
if you leave them alone at some point and let them get thicker you’ll have semi’s but i think the best way to get dreads with the least amount of damage is freeform. black hair is supposed to be thick though. not thin. thats why i’ve never went to a loctician and do my dreads maintenance myself
