@@TheElderDragon7519 i thought it was moreso to do with “meaning it” as this was a realisation Harry comes to when he uses Crucio on Amycus Carrow after they spit on Professor McGonagall in the Deathly Hallows book. What I like about the lesson on the curses that it starts off rather light hearted in a weird way. "Moody" messes about with the Imperius Curse, jokes around...and then on a dime reveals why it is illegal by showing that he could make the insect kill itself. And then it gets even darker with torturing and outright killing the insect. Neville getting upset by it (even more fucked up when you know who Moody is and his role in why the Cruciatus Curse bothers Neville) and Hermione being so upset over seeing the curses she doesn't even want to go into the Killing Curse One thing I appreciate about Harry Potter is that it often had a very clear idea of when to have the right tone
I realy like how Crouch chose the right people to show how terrifying the three curses are Imperius: Starts playing and jumping... Then shows how it can make a person commit suicide Crucio: He basically forced Neville to see the spell that killed his parents (I know it just tortures, but they went insane. They lost their minds and they didn't even recognize him. That's as bad as being dead, or even worse). That also made everyone see Neville's reaction and feel the fear and impact he felt, making the things more realistic Avada Kedabra: He did it in a place Harry could see perfectly, as he also make that cold blooded emphasis in Harry as the only known survivor of that Curse. It's just shocking
The funniest part of the Lucius scene for me is how _livid_ Voldemort would have been if he found out that his lowly henchman had killed Harry over a trivial house elf feud, stealing what Voldemort considered _his_ kill. Lucius would have been tortured senseless lmao.
Awww this doesn't have my favourite, where Volde is on the hill and his weak general is being weak, then as he walks past just throws down a sly Avada Kedavra.
I just noticed that when Avada Kedavra hits Lily, there's a ripples of energy or wave of white thingy behind her (at 6:14) that could possibly be the manifestation of the protection she cast to protect baby Harry. It's just a subtle waves of white light that made the killing curse bounce back at Voldemort.
My favorite part of this scene is that it explains in few words why Harry is as famous as he is. “Only one person is known to have survived it, and he’s sitting in this room.” It’s it just surviving Voldemort, Harry surviving the killing curse specifically is why he’s so famous and why many speculated that he was stronger than Voldemort. That curse has had a 100% success rate for centuries and yet an infant of all people was able to survive it somehow.
@@xtoddscottx I don’t know tbh. I would assume that the curse is only effective if the Caster’s intent to kill is genuine. If it’s not then maybe it doesn’t get cast at all.
It is possible to cast the curse nonverbally, as Bellatrix killed a fox without incantation. However, the lack of the incantation may have been for suspense. Whether this is true or not in Bellatrix's case is unknown.[9]However, during his duel with Dumbledore, Voldemort used this spell several times without an incantation. Intense concentration is likely required to cast the Killing Curse,

I never realized until now that Lucius tried to use Avada Kedavra on harry in the chamber of secrets. I just assumed it was snake-talk at that point. Kinda freaky when you think about it. Lucius trying to kill a freakin kid...
Bruh, Lucius Malfoy was literally about to use Avada Kedavra, one of the unforgivable curses, in front of Dumbledore’s office on Harry, his favourite student. Very clever.
2:16 if there is one moment that will always ring true of Neville being a Gryffindor, this is it. You can see he is deeply troubled by it, of course he is, but he says it anyway and with all the possible composure.
Okay, you missed a couple scenes: -when Voldemort says Crucio to Harry in the Goblet of Fire. -when both Harry and Ron say Imperio to the goblin in the Deathly Hollows part 1. -when Voldemort kills a death eater with Avada Kedavra on the top of the hill in the Deathly Hollows part 2. -when Voldemort kills Gregorovitch with Avada Kedavra in the Deathly Hollows part 1. -when Voldemort is fighting against Dumbledore in the Order of the Phoenix he used Avada Kedavra (green spell, so probably, as you said in your video) These are missing scenes I just associated, but I'm sure you missed more.
At 6:55 Voldemort could not have possibly used Avada Kadavra because Harry was obviously blocking whatever spell Voldemort was doing & if you go back to the Goblet of Fire scene where Mad-Eye Moody explains the Avada Kadavra Curse, he says that you cannot block it... & you can't judge the spells they're using just by the color... because if you've noticed, almost all (if not all) of Voldemort's spell colors are a greenish color... but whatever he was doing at 7:04 - 7:06, , it looks like was having the time of his life... but at 7:08 -7:19, he might've been using it, but you can't hear it this time...mainly because he always yells "Avada Kadavra!!!" when he's killing someone... so it's hard to tell.
Harry and Voldemort can because their wand cores are brothers. And, in this specific battle, Voldemort used the elder wand but in the way end of the movie it says that the elder wand belongs to him.
Jesus Saves! Perhaps as they have twin wands there’s an exception. Also, Voldemort was never the rightful bearer of the elder wand therefore, again, there might be a limitation to the extent of his power
I'm 5 years late here, but I think it's because Harry was the Elder Wand's rightful master. The Elder Wand saw Harry as its true master and wouldn't allow itself to be used against him fatally
That sound after fake Moody uses Avada Kedavra on the spider always brings me chills. I mean the sound effect themselves speak volumes in the HP series.
It is possible to intercept the curse with other spells, but this is extremely difficult as it requires the energy jets of the two spells to collide. As the energy jets of virtually all spells are very small and fast, this has only ever been recorded as occurring by accident.
Kedavra* and it can if the wand being used belongs to the person it is being used upon, in the case of the scene you are talking about. The elder wand belongs to harry by circumstance in the last movie, so the wand allows itself to be blocked if it is being used to try to harm it’s true owner, which is why harry survived Avada kedavra in the forest but Voldemorts soul/horcrux inside him, did not. Or in other cases such as a horcrux defending itself, which isn’t a literal blocking spell per say in of itself. Or wands connected through priori incantatem where the owners of the two wands with the same core can’t harm each other, which voldy explains himself in 7 part 1
@@willysnipes7004 which again also explains why Voldemort brutally killed Snape but didn't use Avada Kedavra. Because Voldemort thought that Snape was the true owner of the Elder Wand because Severus killed Dumbledore and thought that Avada Kedavra wouldn't work or backfire on The Dark Lord because of this. Obviously we know it was never Snape's to begin with it was Harry's all along after he disarmed Draco.
Despite Barty Jr.'s… everything, he was still a good enough teacher to show the students just how dangerous and serious the effects and consequences of the Unforgivable Curses quite well
Always pissed me off that out of all the powerful and ravaging curses that he could possibly use, Harry casts a disarming spell to counter Avada Kedavra. He's made your entire life a living hell and pretty much killed everyone you love, at last throw a worthwhile spell back at him
i dont care whatever anyone says but Barty Crouch Jr showing and teaching students the 3 curses left a bitter and better impact on them not wanting to use them as any dark arts teachers ever could.
tbh I haven't seen all of the movies but he uses it in the seventh book when he sneaks into hogwarts and sees Carrow bullying McGonagall. They may have edited that part out of the movie.
I was so pissed they excluded that from the movie. The show of respect from harry towards Minerva that was enough to fuel him using the Cruciatus because someone disrespected her
Hermione also suffered from the cursio curse, Bellatrix tortured her using that shit. Poor girl. 2:30 No, seriously, knowing that Hermione passes trough this breaks my heart sm
Ok so counting each individual casting of it in the flashbacks and stuff I got 2 for imperius curse 4 for Crucio And a whopping THIRTY SEVEN FOR THE KILLING CURSE
Harry and Ron both use the imperius curse in gringotts on goblins in the dragon part. Voldemort also uses crucio on Harry in the graveyard in GOF. Just a couple I noticed weren’t in this.
2:14 remember, Neville knows all too well about this particular curse, which irreparably shattered his parents' minds. He's not seeing a spider/insect/whatever that thing is, he's reliving what happened to his mom and dad.
You know whats super fucked up about this? The man who helped break the longbottom parents' minds is literally right there basically showing Neville how he did it indirectly.
When rewatching the first movie in the series, you'd have no idea the horrific trauma that dorky little kid Neville in the first movie has gone through.
There’s a few they missed, when they were in Gringotts bank searching for the Goblet of Helga Hufflepuff, both Harry and Ron at some point used Imperio on Bogrod
in some playes in this movie. It is not actually the killing curse because of 1. You can't protect you're self from it. 2.you have to say avada kedavra for it to work you can't just think of it
Umm Protego Maxima enhanced with Fianto Duri blocks it, temporarily :P. It can also be blocked (kinda) if you use the counterspell "Finite Incantato" before it is finished being casted.
Filip Fanta it cannot pass throught solid objects (in canon). Conjure something in the trajectory and you're safe. But no magical shield works. I guess for the movies they did the scene just for the sake of action , otherwise it would've been dull.
Brendan Gleeson acting was awesome on this scene. Also the man in fact was Barty Crouch Jr. who participated in the torture of the Longbottoms and then Neville was there to talk about the curse. Powerful scene.
Kinda mad how Harrys second best DADA teacher is Barty Crouch Jr... Lupin obvs gets rank 1. but the rest were kinda mid or horrifically bad. Year 1: Literally has Voldemort living in his head Year 2: The fraud Year 3: The GOAT Year 4: The unintentional GOAT Year 5: Oh god this bitch Year 6: The death eater that bullied him for the entirety of the previous 5 years. Year 7: Another death eater but harry wasnt even there so dont think this one counts also they were basically just teaching the dark arts not defence against the dark arts.
The sound that the killing curse moody used in the classroom gives off is really unsettling. It's like a soul crying out in agony as it leaves the body
7:00 this is not Avada Kedavra because Harry blocks it. Avada Kedavra cannot be blocked by any counter-spell, charm or anything else, it goes right through any magical deffences like protego for example. The only way to block it is with tremendous amouth of energy like Dumbledore, physical object or if your wands have the same core. Or as in the case of The Elder Wand, it cannot kill it's rightful owner, that is why harry could block it and the spell was reflected back at Voldemort resulting in him finally dying for good.
@@Burnthealphabetpeople Don't think so - especially because it is stated that Avada Kedavra CANNOT be cast non-verbally, the phrase must be uttered. Although these are movies and not books and we actually see Voldy use it non-verbally at the end but who knows. Bit late bud, btw :D

I think the actor was told to say a random spell. I'd have used the Knockback spell, _Flipendo_.
I find the pathetic that you hear avada kedavra and then hermione fires back to the killing curse with stupify
The curse hit objects in the way so it didn't kill Hermione
+James Dawes I know I just meant that I find it pathetic that they are fighting the killing curse with stunning and disarming charms
+Mars Reckk ikr
+Mars Reckk the thing is Hermione doesn't want to kill, she just wants to not be killed
Reckk any "projectile" spell can block the killing curse, as long as it hits it mid air
Neville getting upset by it (even more fucked up when you know who Moody is and his role in why the Cruciatus Curse bothers Neville) and Hermione being so upset over seeing the curses she doesn't even want to go into the Killing Curse
One thing I appreciate about Harry Potter is that it often had a very clear idea of when to have the right tone
What about when Bellatrix used Crucio on Hermione, in deatlhy hallows part 1
It isn't shown u can just here her screaming
That's in the books
In the movies Bellatrix cuts her skin and writes the word mudblood
Aeroplanes Lover In the movie you cannot see her cast the curse.
She doesn’t in the movie. She does in the books.
She just writes mudblood on her wrist
I realy like how Crouch chose the right people to show how terrifying the three curses are
Imperius: Starts playing and jumping... Then shows how it can make a person commit suicide
Crucio: He basically forced Neville to see the spell that killed his parents (I know it just tortures, but they went insane. They lost their minds and they didn't even recognize him. That's as bad as being dead, or even worse). That also made everyone see Neville's reaction and feel the fear and impact he felt, making the things more realistic
Avada Kedabra: He did it in a place Harry could see perfectly, as he also make that cold blooded emphasis in Harry as the only known survivor of that Curse. It's just shocking
Sectumcempra
The funniest part of the Lucius scene for me is how _livid_ Voldemort would have been if he found out that his lowly henchman had killed Harry over a trivial house elf feud, stealing what Voldemort considered _his_ kill. Lucius would have been tortured senseless lmao.

Awww this doesn't have my favourite, where Volde is on the hill and his weak general is being weak, then as he walks past just throws down a sly Avada Kedavra.
That's why I came to this video :(
It was actually Pius Thicknesse (aka minister of magic under the imperius curse)
Ya that is my favorite too. It was so clear
6:00 goyle really has the courage to straight up kill hermine
We’ll he’s a death eater so yeah
My favorite part of this scene is that it explains in few words why Harry is as famous as he is. “Only one person is known to have survived it, and he’s sitting in this room.” It’s it just surviving Voldemort, Harry surviving the killing curse specifically is why he’s so famous and why many speculated that he was stronger than Voldemort. That curse has had a 100% success rate for centuries and yet an infant of all people was able to survive it somehow.
But Avada Kedavra instakill only if a wizard really wants to kill his opponent, don't it? Or does it related only to Crucio?
@@xtoddscottx I don’t know tbh. I would assume that the curse is only effective if the Caster’s intent to kill is genuine. If it’s not then maybe it doesn’t get cast at all.
Dobby in the first part, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"
Does anyone get it? Only me? Ok.
You didn't include when Voldemort uses the cruciatus curse on harry in the goblet of fire
Dylan trueeee
Barty Crouch Jr is obviously evil for putting Neville and his parents through that, but you can't deny he's a good teacher
8:35 *When you have to kill Harry Potter at nine but at ten practice your catwalk poses*
I love how Voldemort says Avada Kedavro, first A is like somebody screaming, running to the toilet
Intense concentration is likely required to cast the Killing Curse,
5:56 I think this is the best avada kedavra spell cast pronouncing ever

I never realized until now that Lucius tried to use Avada Kedavra on harry in the chamber of secrets. I just assumed it was snake-talk at that point.
Kinda freaky when you think about it. Lucius trying to kill a freakin kid...
Right outside dumbledore’s office…..
At the first scene, I think Lucius was planning to use the curse against Dobby
Nope. He was using it against harry because harry free dobby
Love how Voldemort casted a spell and all he said was “Bah”
Bruh, Lucius Malfoy was literally about to use Avada Kedavra, one of the unforgivable curses, in front of Dumbledore’s office on Harry, his favourite student. Very clever.
When Barty as mad eye moody used the cruciatus curse he was one of the 4 that tortured longbottoms parens
2:16 if there is one moment that will always ring true of Neville being a Gryffindor, this is it.
You can see he is deeply troubled by it, of course he is, but he says it anyway and with all the possible composure.
He should have been a Hufflepuff

Okay, you missed a couple scenes:
-when Voldemort says Crucio to Harry in the Goblet of Fire.
-when Voldemort is fighting against Dumbledore in the Order of the Phoenix he used Avada Kedavra (green spell, so probably, as you said in your video)
These are missing scenes I just associated, but I'm sure you missed more.
When Voldemort fight with Dumbledore he use "EXPULSO"
@@scisciopro444 that’s a not an unforgivable curse
He missed the very first, when Voldemort kills Lilly in the first movie as well.
HermioneHarry GinnyRon yeah but we have seen people deflect the killing curse in the movies soooooo.... yeah
Harry and Voldemort can because their wand cores are brothers. And, in this specific battle, Voldemort used the elder wand but in the way end of the movie it says that the elder wand belongs to him.
It’s coz of the resurrection stone
Jesus Saves! Perhaps as they have twin wands there’s an exception. Also, Voldemort was never the rightful bearer of the elder wand therefore, again, there might be a limitation to the extent of his power
I'm 5 years late here, but I think it's because Harry was the Elder Wand's rightful master. The Elder Wand saw Harry as its true master and wouldn't allow itself to be used against him fatally
4:19 The way he said crucio gets me every time
I like how people who laugh when the spider crawls on someone else become the next in line
What about when voldemort used Crucio in on harry.

Voldemort: ba😯
Harry Potter: AUUUGHHHH😫
6:56-7:08 It is not the Aveda kedabra because Aveda Kedabra can not be blocked. But Harry seems to be able to block those spells quiet easily.
The Elder Wand was protecting him
@@willysnipes7004 which again also explains why Voldemort brutally killed Snape but didn't use Avada Kedavra. Because Voldemort thought that Snape was the true owner of the Elder Wand because Severus killed Dumbledore and thought that Avada Kedavra wouldn't work or backfire on The Dark Lord because of this. Obviously we know it was never Snape's to begin with it was Harry's all along after he disarmed Draco.
from this vid i discovered that ron used avada kedavra i was surprised it was wierd to know

Always pissed me off that out of all the powerful and ravaging curses that he could possibly use, Harry casts a disarming spell to counter Avada Kedavra. He's made your entire life a living hell and pretty much killed everyone you love, at last throw a worthwhile spell back at him
6:53 I WANNA BANANA!!!! Lmao
The Boyz its a joke voldemort says avada kedavra
i dont care whatever anyone says but Barty Crouch Jr showing and teaching students the 3 curses left a bitter and better impact on them not wanting to use them as any dark arts teachers ever could.
Harry used crucio on amycus carrow
randomviewer09 which movie
tbh I haven't seen all of the movies but he uses it in the seventh book when he sneaks into hogwarts and sees Carrow bullying McGonagall. They may have edited that part out of the movie.
That was one of my favourite parts of deathly Hallows, where Carrie gets hit by Harry's first SUCCESSFUL cruciatus curse.
randomviewer09 That scene was cut from the movie.
I was so pissed they excluded that from the movie. The show of respect from harry towards Minerva that was enough to fuel him using the Cruciatus because someone disrespected her
Its fuckin lucky that Malfoy spent ten minutes saying Avada so Dobby could jump in before he got to the Kedavra.
Hermione also suffered from the cursio curse, Bellatrix tortured her using that shit. Poor girl.
2:30 No, seriously, knowing that Hermione passes trough this breaks my heart sm
Harry was tortured by that curse too
Ok so counting each individual casting of it in the flashbacks and stuff I got
2 for imperius curse
4 for Crucio

Harry and Ron both use the imperius curse in gringotts on goblins in the dragon part. Voldemort also uses crucio on Harry in the graveyard in GOF. Just a couple I noticed weren’t in this.
2:14 remember, Neville knows all too well about this particular curse, which irreparably shattered his parents' minds. He's not seeing a spider/insect/whatever that thing is, he's reliving what happened to his mom and dad.

Wow Ron actually used the killing curse I thought Harry was the only one from the golden trio that has used a unforgivable curse! Mind blown 😧
There’s a few they missed, when they were in Gringotts bank searching for the Goblet of Helga Hufflepuff, both Harry and Ron at some point used Imperio on Bogrod
Ok so I’ve confirmed my suspicion that that was the killing curse Ron tried to use
in some playes in this movie. It is not actually the killing curse because of
1. You can't protect you're self from it.
2.you have to say avada kedavra for it to work you can't just think of it
Correct. It's unblockable except in the instance of that beam connection they do where it becomes a battle of will.
Nikolai508 And even that happens only because the wands used share the exact same core , it's not something that's willingly doable
Umm Protego Maxima enhanced with Fianto Duri blocks it, temporarily :P. It can also be blocked (kinda) if you use the counterspell "Finite Incantato" before it is finished being casted.
no, it is unblockable unless someone else give up there own Life in order to save you. This is what Harrys mother did. there is also no counterspell.

Ron. You missed Nagini by just a inch.
I see what you did there
The sound that the killing curse moody used in the classroom gives off is really unsettling.
It could be because he’s still using the elder wand to cast it and Harry’s still the rightful owner here
@@Burnthealphabetpeople Don't think so - especially because it is stated that Avada Kedavra CANNOT be cast non-verbally, the phrase must be uttered. Although these are movies and not books and we actually see Voldy use it non-verbally at the end but who knows.
