Ive watch ALOT of diorama and miniature builders on youtube and else where and never found anyone that comes close to your detailed explanations and how tos. I love you videos and have learn a great amount just from your vids thank you very much for your time and effort.
I just enjoy the number of people that have no idea why they are watching these tutorials and have no intention to do it but still enjoy it :D I think its just a general interest for building stuff and somehow brings back childhood memories and fascination. And its nice to know that there are parts of TH-cam without negative comments. Great job! Greetings from Germany
You are incredibly talented and very patient. I'm recovery from surgery and find myself binge watching your tutorials. They are relaxing and informative. Thanks for sharing your talents and experience.
Thanks :) It didn't take all that long... I've been doing these dioramas for about 3 years. I basically started when I began this TH-cam channel however, I've always been a little artistic and had an interest in models and sculpting for a very long time. As a kid I used to make model aircraft and art and wood tech were among my favorite subjects in high school. Cheers Luke
If you glue some of the models together like the road ones or the ones with rivers in them, I think they’d be at least mildly alike. You’d need to make them specially to be lined up and not look really weird.
I have no idea how I came to your channel ... I used to make some dioramas when I was a kid, and now, I want to experience the pleasure to do it again. Awesome tips for unbelievable dioramas, very well done! Very relaxing and enjoyable video as well, thanks for the content!
Its so realistic, if you shake a TINY dead squirrel out of your sleef and place it somewhere, I wont be shocked! I almost expect tiny pigeons circling around the trees : O
Luke, you have a meticulous approach to scenery, taking your time and making sure you've thought of everything, and it pays off! Well done on the diorama and thanks for sharing these videos.
Thanks mate :) It's funny, a lot of people who watch my videos are over 60 years old which suggest this is a pretty good hobby to take up in retirement :)
This is great, not only entertaining and relaxing, but If there's people who want to do this too, you provide the resources for them as if the video is specifically made for them in an organized and helpful way. Amazing stuff
lol, thanks Rowin 😁 Sometimes I have to remind myself to got to my actual job so I can pay the bills! I guess I wouldn't be making these models otherwise 😁 Thanks again mate
Thanks for another great video Luke! The Flexi-Stick looks like a fabric pattern ruler my wife has in her sewing room, albeit without the colour patches to make it easier to do the dashed lines. Found some T pins for securing foam in her sewing area a well... wonder what else I can re-home (with her permission, of course: happy wife happy life!).
lol, well said. It's always good to find substitute materials that are lying around the house! I'm gonna need some T pins soon to help secure my track down! Unfortunately the wife doesn't have any...... any that I know about! Cheers Luke
Your very good at this, your the only one i know of, who really know how to make it look super real, and its perfect done. Its very relaxing and enjoyful to watch, even tho i never have made a model myself.
Thanks so much for an amazing comment 😊 I'm glad you enjoy watching the videos and if you build a model one day you could use some of my techniques 😊 Cheers Luke
Thanks Rob, glad you've been enjoying the videos :) I'll have to start on my main layout soon! I'll be looking to your videos for inspiration. Cheers Luke
@Luke_Towan can you do a video on how to make rock formations like we see in Yosemite National Park? Would love to see your take on the white misty waterfalls that go over the edges.
Hi, Luke: I'd suggest that the kinds of massive formations one finds in Yosemite are best represented on a painted backdrop. Now if you have any good ideas for Bryce Canyon-type spires and hoodoos, I have to add several to my friend George's layout and am open to suggestions! 8-D
Thanks for the fantastic comment :) And for the tip about road lanes, unfortunately it's hard to get the small details right being on the other side of the world! Another mentioned the driver got into the wrong side of the car! lol It must have been a crazy Australian! Cheers Luke
Thank you TH-cam for finally recommending me an excellent channel. You got a new subscriber. One question, do you sell this sceneries or do you keep them?
what i thought you like died or something you havent been uploading in a month i really enjoy your videos please dont stop making them models are my passion and you help me with my dreeams
YES RIGHT?? i thought exactly the same.. this is what youtube should be, a place for people with a talent, a hobby, making good informative videos (and actually taking the time to learn how to edit) that take your breathe away.. not "bathtub challenges" and and stupid pranks.. but weirdly, those people get rich and this here is a rare and hidden diamond inbetween.. but who are we kidding, its the viewers fault..
i agree with dionicio, finally a youtube channel that actually is useful and informative...one question though...as i am from india, some of the materials used are not available here, so any tips on what can be used as a substitute..??
i agree with dionicio, finally a youtube channel that actually is useful and informative...one question though...as i am from india, some of the materials used are not available here, so any tips on what can be used as a substitute..??
Your work is amazing!.. The little guy at the beginning brought his own car to yellowstone, by the looks of it.. He entered the car on the right side and drove off.
The road you made looks exactly the roads I use everyday! Even the patches look good! The forest has the look and feel of a real forest. I plan on making a diorama with a road in it so I will use your techniques and no doubt I will watch this tutorial frequently while I build it. Thanks for the information as it really helps.
lol, thanks Vikki. It is stop motion, I spent a good few hours making that animation! There are a few mistakes with it but overall it looks pretty good. I used flood lights to illuminate the diorama but unfortunately the very small amount of sunlight leaking through the blinds caused a flickering effect but I guess the flickering kind of adds to the atmosphere of the movie. I'm glad you enjoyed it :) Cheers Luke
Hi Vikki, Yeah it took him a whole day (not a few hours) to take so many photos...I know because the garage was so cold so he migrated into our study (where the heater is), did his set up with his lights and shot away...it was beside our computer while I was studying. He puts so much effort to making it perfect for his supporters. It's impressive. Thank you for supporting him :-)
The vid where you guys are in the car and you yell out "bush!" is hilarious. Luke is lucky to have you, Anna. I'm sure you remind him of that from time to time ;)
+Vikki Wilson Lol.😂 definitely. It's fun and exciting listening to Luke whenever he talks about an idea and seeing it come to life. He's such a good man.
Was linked here from Reddit. I can't say I've ever been the least bit interested in making dioramas, but your skill and passion shines through, making it a very interesting watch.
another great vid man...just wanted to let you know I was watching another vid by tsgmultimedia and they actually mentioned you...not by name but they were showing this old model one of them had built and the other says "yeah there's this guy in Australia who has a vid showing how to make a small shed with corrugated siding"...instantly thought it had to be you...anyway thought I'd share...peace...
Luke, I've never been into this kind of modelling, nor will I ever be. I only mention this as a testament to your incredible skill and engaging tutorials to snare me as a subscriber. very impressive work mate. I'm hooked on your videos.
I love your stuff on trees, so thought I'd share a bit too. Faller has something very interesting you can adapt to HO size or larger, it's called the Faller Car System. By embedding a wire down the center of your road/highway/trail, you can use their HO chassis to follow the 'road' using a magnetic chassis system. There are all kinds of sensors too, so you can make stops, intersections, or turn offs anywhere you like. The more advanced chassis also have 'collision avoidance' built into them to slow down the tailing vehicles. There is only one downside I see to the system, and it's the batteries. Each chassis needs it's own power source. So, I came up with a solution to this: Let your vehicle go full circle, and have a prolonged rest stop away from the visual area. When the vehicle stops, it will be directly over a 'recharge' station. I have seen 1/64 scale R/C cars that recharge in under 10 minutes, so my idea has serious potential. I adapted 2 of these chassis to S scale, 1 a 1940 Ford and the other a Greyhound bus. They are a hair taller than HO, so I made the magnetic sensors a bit longer. You can't see them at all when it's moving, and unless you are looking for them, they are easy to miss when parked. A skilled modeler could make O scale ATVs following a relatively smooth dirt trail, or anything larger they so choose. Weight should be kept to a minimum, plastic whenever possible. Pull up a video or 2 and you'll see the potential.
Cool, I like your idea. I've been interested in the Faller car system for a while. I'll go and have a look at your videos :) thanks for such great tips and advice! Cheers Luke
my gosh, every vid i watch from you, i'm getting more and more excited to try this myself. Youre eye for detail is so amazing, like the leafs under the tree, for example. You blow my mind every time!!!
That was something I did to my roads a couple years ago was add cracks and tar lines on the road. I never see anyone do that, and I am glad you did that because it really makes the road look real. Asparagus fern is an interesting way to make trees.
Your dioramas have me awestruck. It would be neat to see many of these completed works compiled in a fantasy travel video through your creations, maybe telling a story along the way.
i'm 15 and i was think about getting a new gamingcomputer but noooo, this is so much better and i dedicate my time to something that is somewhat useful haha. This is theraputic for me! So thank you so much for getting me interested!!! ;))
A bit late to finding your channel but I'm continuously amazed after each video I click on. A thought that came to mind recently was, "where does he keep all these and does he eventually pass them on to friends, family or strangers as gifts?" If you haven't already done one, a tour of the projects you've kept would be GREAT!! Until then...I have a large backlog of your videos to watch
This is amazing! I have started doing a thing like this with a road through a forrest with small mountains. I used grass from my backyard as grass and small candels that i glue together and then put gray paper around them as rocks/small mountains!
As an annoying american that lives near the park there are a few knits I would like to pick. First here in the states we use while lines on the side of the road and yellow only in the middle. Second the roads in the park do not have shoulders, that is the paved surface goes all the way to grass and dirt at the side of the road (I know its weird but that's the way it is). Third there are very few deciduous trees in the park so there are almost no leaves on the ground. Fourth the grass in the park tends to be very uniform in length and color changing very gradually, the clumps of color you see are actually low scrubby tough little bushes. The diorama in general is of marvelous quality and demonstrates a truly remarkable skill in the creator it could be just a little bit better. Having said that If I didn't live next door to the park I wouldn't know any of this. There knit picky monologue over.
If you add a couple of huge potholes, this would look like most roads in New Jersey...lol. I`m a big fan of your work and this is another amazing project!
I'm an artist and I don't even have the patience for this so I'm glad you do it all for us. Very peaceful.
it's relaxing too
I got to tell you i have been in the asphalt industry for 40 years, and that road you created is so natural it looks real, well done.
You're like the Bob Ross of modelling :D
Finally! I'm not the one thinking like that:)
Yep, some happy little diorama trees
more like 3d painting
Happy little grass tufts
Yes
Ive watch ALOT of diorama and miniature builders on youtube and else where and never found anyone that comes close to your detailed explanations and how tos. I love you videos and have learn a great amount just from your vids thank you very much for your time and effort.
These videos are oddly satisfying to watch...amazing amount of patience
Thanks GiantDevilDog, it is satisfying when I get the results I have in my head onto the diorama.
I just enjoy the number of people that have no idea why they are watching these tutorials and have no intention to do it but still enjoy it :D
I think its just a general interest for building stuff and somehow brings back childhood memories and fascination. And its nice to know that there are parts of TH-cam without negative comments.
Great job! Greetings from Germany
One of the best there are..especially love that soothing feeling this diorama gives.
thank you :) glad you liked it :)
You are incredibly talented and very patient. I'm recovery from surgery and find myself binge watching your tutorials. They are relaxing and informative. Thanks for sharing your talents and experience.
It looks amazing, when you put the camera at ground level it looks so real. I'd like to get into this hobby looks like fun.
Thanks :) It didn't take all that long... I've been doing these dioramas for about 3 years. I basically started when I began this TH-cam channel however, I've always been a little artistic and had an interest in models and sculpting for a very long time. Every videos of Luke Towan is Realistic 😀😌😌☝️☝️👍...
With all of these builds on your channel you should make a mini town/city
Like if you agree and if you also want to see it
If you glue some of the models together like the road ones or the ones with rivers in them, I think they’d be at least mildly alike. You’d need to make them specially to be lined up and not look really weird.
That sounds coool
YUP ..
Gijs Kuijken yes
Even i was to say that....
This has replaced Bob Ross videos for me. I could watch and listen to you all day.
i can't stop watching your videos!!
cool :) glad you're enjoying them
+Luke Towan Ive been Model RR ing for a long time, and this is the absolute best landscape modeling I have ever seen. Very informative too!
I have no idea how I came to your channel ... I used to make some dioramas when I was a kid, and now, I want to experience the pleasure to do it again. Awesome tips for unbelievable dioramas, very well done!
Very relaxing and enjoyable video as well, thanks for the content!
Thanks, Ncls for your positive words. Glad you find my videos relaxing and enjoyable 😁
Its so realistic, if you shake a TINY dead squirrel out of your sleef and place it somewhere, I wont be shocked! I almost expect tiny pigeons circling around the trees : O
I dont think I will ever make anything like this but I cant stop watching these videos. Good work. This is definitely art.
This content is so relaxing to watch. It's like a mindfulness to me. Amazing Job
Luke, you have a meticulous approach to scenery, taking your time and making sure you've thought of everything, and it pays off! Well done on the diorama and thanks for sharing these videos.
Thanks mate, I do spend a lot of time planning and building so it's great to see you appreciate it :) Thanks for watching.
Cheers
Luke
Amazing!! I'm sure you know this but in the US our center lines are generally yellow and the shoulder lines are white. Beautiful work!
He lives in Australia.
Yep, I know. Just sharing some info.
+kaleb baugh haha allright
:)
They are actually the same as they are in America, just that in some areas it's yellow.
This guy deserves his own show tbh
This is so beautiful ☺️ I liked an animated intro with a car and engine sounds. Interesting.
I don't even make models or dioramas anyone but I still love watching these
I wish I had the skill you had and I can completely understand why people like this
Also you should release a video of you creating a whole town and co country side
Wow, what a hobby, I enjoy these videos. I might take this up when i'm retired. Your attention to detail is incredible.
Thanks mate :) It's funny, a lot of people who watch my videos are over 60 years old which suggest this is a pretty good hobby to take up in retirement :)
You should do pot holes
Mercedes Mob the black shapes on the road are where potholes used to be.
Well if you have holes in your pot what good would it be?
if he does a road in Pennsylvania there wont be patches,...just the holes....LOL
This is great, not only entertaining and relaxing, but If there's people who want to do this too, you provide the resources for them as if the video is specifically made for them in an organized and helpful way. Amazing stuff
Speaking of intro: Wouldn't be that SO cool, if there existed a whole movie animated like that?
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Stop-motion...?
Listen, I cannot afford another obsession... my god you're talented. I am VERY envious.
lol, thanks Rowin 😁 Sometimes I have to remind myself to got to my actual job so I can pay the bills! I guess I wouldn't be making these models otherwise 😁 Thanks again mate

LOL :-D What are T pins? Would have to look on Google to see, I may have it but I may call it something else. xoxo
Your very good at this, your the only one i know of, who really know how to make it look super real, and its perfect done.
Its very relaxing and enjoyful to watch, even tho i never have made a model myself.

Brilliant work. You are the consummate artist. Rob
Thanks Rob, glad you've been enjoying the videos :) I'll have to start on my main layout soon! I'll be looking to your videos for inspiration.

This type of projects will teach us how to be extremely patient! I'm just amazed.
@Luke_Towan can you do a video on how to make rock formations like we see in Yosemite National Park? Would love to see your take on the white misty waterfalls that go over the edges.
Interesting idea, I'll do some research and see what I can come up with :)

Whenever I notice one of your videos, I KNOW that the content will be a work of art. U.S. paved two-lanes have a white edgeline stripe.
Thanks for the fantastic comment :) And for the tip about road lanes, unfortunately it's hard to get the small details right being on the other side of the world! Another mentioned the driver got into the wrong side of the car! lol It must have been a crazy Australian!

fantastic !! hey man can you make a jungle scenery. please , please 😢😄😅
It's added to the list of ideas 😄
Right hand drive on the car. Of course. Another wonderful tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you TH-cam for finally recommending me an excellent channel. You got a new subscriber. One question, do you sell this sceneries or do you keep them?
Thanks mate, I don't sell them. They usually get displayed on a shelf at home, one day when I have to many models to handle I might sell some of them?

he calls them tutorials but i call them sleeping pills(in a good way(i have trouble sleeping and his beautiful voice calms me down))
Hey I'm not al- **sounds of head hitting the desk**
The condition of that road is about the same as the roads near me, you actually made that road better by making the surface level too!
Your a very good artist:)
Thanks mate, glad you liked it :)

Great stuff. Is that stop frame animation?? Surely not, very smooth and I know from experience it would take forever. Thanks for the fun.
lol, thanks Vikki. It is stop motion, I spent a good few hours making that animation! There are a few mistakes with it but overall it looks pretty good. I live about 2 hours from Yellowstone.... the roads are not that nice....
but... I live a few hours away from it...
who is stalking who?
find out next time on TH-cam
headlessam i live continent away
headlessam and also im stalking your mum
Yellowstone is pretty, I live in utah, so I don't go that often.
When I went the roads were either just redone or awful
Wow, I watched it for like 20 seconds and I am already stunned
another great vid man...just wanted to let you know I was watching another vid by tsgmultimedia and they actually mentioned you...not by name but they were showing this old model one of them had built and the other says "yeah there's this guy in Australia who has a vid showing how to make a small shed with corrugated siding"...instantly thought it had to be you...anyway thought I'd share...peace...
Once again a very informative tutorial. You're a natural born teacher. Love your videos.
wow nice. What I can share your video on my blogging, I am also going to include your name in my article
Ha ha ha . You are unbelievable. I cannot exrpess exactly how much you impress me with each video of make. You are something else!!
“I’m gunna make a country road.” My mind: COUNTRY ROADS TAKE ME HOME, TO THE PLACE I BELONG, WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAIN MUMMA, TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS
Senko fan haha
I love how you do tutorials instead of just showcasing the models. Watching you build on my UltraHD TV... What a breathtaking view
Wow, now that's watching in style and comfort.
Dude he should add all his scenes together
rc scale crawling ikr
Plz
Luke, I've never been into this kind of modelling, nor will I ever be. I only mention this as a testament to your incredible skill and engaging tutorials to snare me as a subscriber. very impressive work mate. I'm hooked on your videos.
It’s cool when you see your last name in a video even if it’s on a piece of sandpaper
I love your stuff on trees, so thought I'd share a bit too. Faller has something very interesting you can adapt to HO size or larger, it's called the Faller Car System. have you ever considered adding minature roadkill
Your videos are satisfying to watch and learn, brilliant diorama Luke very brilliant, the trees, shrubs and the bushes are magnificent.
This video made me question my diorama building skill.......
lol, practice makes perfect. I'm sure you make great dioramas :) Mine aren't always this good but I don't show the bad ones on video :)
Cheers
Luke
Really? It made me personally question my lack of diorama skills, Period
Lolllllllllll
my gosh, every vid i watch from you, i'm getting more and more excited to try this myself. Youre eye for detail is so amazing, like the leafs under the tree, for example. You blow my mind every time!!!
What do you do after its finished ?
upload the youtube video
and then ?
well he's got those little cars hasn't he
and then?
and then?
Would never have the patience to do this but its so calming to see you do this
Yellowstone roads would have yellow lane dividers, as every single other road in the US :)
Ok, it looks like it only appears white in the intro.

It's such a dreamlike world. Great videos Luke. You are very talented... And patient.
thanks again Tamas 😃
I like this a lot, is this a fetish?
ASMR For Dogs It's a hobby...
"What kind of fetish is a 'hobby'?"
-youtube commenter.
the way he says "static grass tufts" is definitely someone's fetish
Well, you do dog ASMR.
Just whisper "you're a good boy" to a dog while crinkling some plastic wrap, it's a pretty easy fetish to get into.
That was something I did to my roads a couple years ago was add cracks and tar lines on the road. I never see anyone do that, and I am glad you did that because it really makes the road look real. Asparagus fern is an interesting way to make trees.
yeah it certainly makes a huge difference! I like the asparagus fern trees but they take so long to dry out!
Cheers
Luke
I would probably never do any of these things myself, but i love watching these videos. Keep the good work up, sir.
Thanks mate :) I'm glad you like watching them, maybe one day you might find the urge to give it a try :)

Once again and again.....another great video tutorial Luke !!!

I have no idea how I ended up here but this is just awesome.
I appreciate the detail given in how you achieve such nice results. I looked this up to see how to create a realistic road but learn so much more.
Your scenery is unbelievable... Well done.
That road is simply gorgeous. I learned a lot, thanks!
Loved the way you made a stop motion in the beginning
You are absolutely amazing, man. Very skilled.
how much cost of making this
If you add a couple of huge potholes, this would look like most roads in New Jersey...lol. I`m a big fan of your work and this is another amazing project!
A great bringing together of some of your brilliant landscape techniques
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. The road came out better than I initially expected :)
Cheers

I friend of mine just guided me to your channel. That is awesome. You should contact the Sheikhs. They buy that stuff for thousands of dollars.
Thanks Luke. See you Sunday if you make it.

Great work Luke. Re the bubbles; you could leave them 'popped' thereby creating pot holes if you wanted.
Great tip with the bubbles! I never thought about that! I'll definitely try that on my next road!
