That one orphan boy screen time is short but he was so helpful . He’s chill, didn’t scream or be a burden like Gerry and Karyn children, he knows English and translated it to his parents who don’t know English and vice versa. I remember when I first saw this part and I was surprised that the helicopter rescue actually worked. They usually don't. The helicopter usually tries to rescue the protagonist and his family/friends, attempts to land on the roof and gets overrun by zombies. The pilot then freaks out and tries to take off while the soldiers inside try to fight off the zombies but there's too many and they get overrun, followed by a spectacular shot of the helicopter spinning out of control while the protag is forced to watch on helplessly until it crashes down. But this time, the rescue actually worked and they successfully fended off the zombies and took the protag with them.

I loved how they did them in this movie and 28 days later. They run just like a human at full speed, except since they are dead, they never feel tired or out of breath, the muscles just keep on going. This makes it that even if you are a fast runner, they will eventually catch you anyway, making running not a viable option at all which makes them scarier.

I didn't watch the movie but a straightforward explanation would be that ingestion of biomass doesn't result in it directly entering your bloodstream the same way a bite through skin does. It's similar to how injecting, ingesting, and inhaling a drug all result in what should be the same effect but with varied intensities, regions of effect, and durations. Is eating infected biomass dangerous? I doubt there's a scene of people doubling back to try and eat zombie but if the movie established somewhere that ingestion results in infection, then yeah, not much of an excuse there unless it's an issue of concentration of exposure (for diseases in real life, the immune system provides a threshold that density of pathogen needs to overcome in order to effectively guarantee infection) specific to ingestion versus transmission via biting. If not, there's always the possibility that the virus is rendered ineffective when digested. While it getting in his mouth is something of a gray area, I'd counter-argue that it getting all over his face, thus possibly in his nose and eyes is less debatable. They aren't directly connected to the bloodstream either but the respiratory and visual system may pose less of an obstacle than digestive would, and many common pathogens are adapted to infiltrate via these methods due to how much easier it is to infiltrate through these channels.
