    Great tip. Especially the 'not taking it directly' one. Psyllium husks (2 teaspoons) can be taken that way, putting it dry in mouth and then swallowing it with water. Two teaspoons of it won't do any harm that way. Good to remember that chia seeds shouldn't be taken that way. Trivia: Psyllium husks don't need to soak. You can just mix it with water/juice and drink immediately.

    • @treeehez8586
      @treeehez8586 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Dont put it dry on your mouth you are crazy! Do it on big glass water and do not do more than 1 tablespoon and drink afterwards water (after the fiberous water is drunk) and NEVER drink it if it forms a pudding. Give a good mix than watch how it becomes. Take care

    • @gyorgyjakabjulia
      @gyorgyjakabjulia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@treeehez8586 exactly, it's actually dangerous the dry Psyllium even in small lumps of not mixed properly... Because you can take a breath of air and it can fly into the wrong side of your throat and cause choking...
      So 1st need to be stirred with just a small amount of water or juice... Only after that adding the rest of the water.

      @@treeehez8586 Lots of people do that in our country, no medical problem is heard yet. But you definitely need to learn the technique, never trying by yourself. And of course, even if you put it dry in mouth (near the tongue tip), you need to swallow it with a glass of water.
      And I personally take 2 tablespoon with a glass of water, no problem. Since I take it from my childhood, I know how to take it quickly. (With 3 tablespoon I need 1.5-2 glass water. I started with 1 teaspoon, that too with sugar.)

      Chia seeds are generally safe for most people, including those taking blood pressure medication, as they are known to have heart-healthy benefits like being high in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants. However, because chia seeds may lower blood pressure, they could potentially enhance the effects of blood pressure medications, possibly leading to excessively low blood pressure (hypotension) in some individuals.

    Tracy...thank you so much..I see many videos where advice is given to put Chia seeds in a smoothie blend...some blend the seeds with other
    items...veggies or fruit...or both....others put chia seeds on top of finished blend after being poured in a glass. How long should chia seeds
    be soaked before using in a blender smoothie...and how much water should a tablespoon of Chia be put in? I think speaking of these aspects
    of how to use and not use Chia seeds is important. I hope you will take the time to tell us about using Chia in smoothies and soaking. Must
    they be refrigerated when being soaked? Do they need to be covered when soaking? Thank you.

      This isn’t completely accurate info in the video because Chia seeds will plump in your stomach from the juices and liquid in your stomach. And because they have a jelly coating they probably won’t stick in your colon like other nuts and seeds without the jelly coating and are even said to be ok in patients with diverticulitis. So it probably wasn’t the chia causing the diverticulitis as they are designed to pass easily out of your body. But a diet high in red meat and processed meat is what activates it the most as opposed to nuts and seeds that was originally thought. The jelly coating acts as a magnet to pull toxins and bacteria out of your gut. They are one of the best things you can eat. Mix them into your salad dressing first or soak them in oatmilk or pineapple juice or something. The jelly will take on the flavor of the liquid. They can also help to heal a leaky gut.

    YES!!! Listen to her. I have IBS. I am not even allowed chia seeds anymore. 😒 I use to soak 2 teasons in water over night and add 1 tsp honey, a dash of cinnamon, and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice in the morning. TMI if you have issues like "eat a d run to the washroom"... You don't want to do this at ALL. Constipation when having IBS is the most painful ever. Gas pains in your chest "feels like a heatt attack", sides "makes you feel like you having kidney failure", the pain is everywhere. My suggestion is don't bother. Eat some more regular veggies or whatever you like to eat "not this". Yes I paid a visit to the hospital when I felt like I was having a heart attack. NOPE... It was a blockage from chia seeds that I actually soaked over night. So not safe regardless in my books.

      @@mikabartee3501 No problem! So much hype around chia seeds... Maybe fine in a very tiny amount, but not a full or even half a teaspoon soaked. It was just too much pain. 😞 ground flaxseed to some meals are ok. They don't clog like chia.

      Wow! I also had a terrible experience with Chia seeds. I’m normally a super healthy gastro person shitting 2-3 times a day and never having constipation. I saw a video espousing the benefits of Chia in a health drink in the morning so I tried it out. I used about 1 tablespoon of seeds blended into lemon, orange, and cucumber juice. My god, my system just stopped working. I’ve been constipated big time and felt as if my intestines just stopped working, period. It’s been about 5-6 days now, and I am still not normal. Plenty of burps and gas, but the real material barely comes out. So, right now I’ve resorted to fasting to hopefully get rid of this blockage. I wish there was something that could dissolve the blockage, but hopefully time will work. No more Chia for me. Horrible experience.

    • @naturalremediesbytracy921

      All that fiber in chia seeds is mostly insoluble fiber, which doesn't dissolve in fluids. Instead, it absorbs fluids and helps create bulky, soft stool. So yes, chia seeds have the right kind of fiber to loosen your poop and give you some constipation relief. Put a teaspoon of it inside water and drink it. Remember to drink more water during the day

Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties that may help decrease inflammation in the thyroid gland related conditions like Hashimoto's thyroiditis, DeQuervain's thyroiditis or other forms of thyroiditis.” You can eat them moderately safely if you have thyroid disease
