I wouldn't be too worried about the cross platform approach. Since it's a survival sandbox MMO, being cross plat shouldn't be a hurdle. There are plenty of survival games that play just as good as it's PC counter parts. You can still get a MMO experience from a controller IF implemented correctly, but since they are going so heavy on the survival sandbox side of this MMO, I have no bad feeling about it being cross play. So far to me the game looks like a prettier Conan Exiles except MMO and hopefully with more competent devs. Finger crossed, really hope this game does magical stuff. Loved Ark and Conan Exiles and love playing MMOs and this looks to bring both of them into a single game (which is a dream game to me)

Just being able to enjoy exploring and finding hidden parts, killing a strong enemy and get better loot. Is really fun. Now there might be an mmo out there that I have missed, but feels like its not. Maybe this is... just have to wait and see.
The emphasis to casual players is a bit important and appreciated. We are not who we are years ago who can grind non-stop. Hopefully they stay true to that.
well, in the past there was old people playing mmo's as well. If you dont have time to play an mmo, dont play it. It shouldnt cater to an audience that dont have time to play it.
You know what sucks. In the last 5 years I’ve seen 1000 NEW MMO videos. The amount of time they are actually available to play or close to release : like zero lol.
Per usual, sounds great but I'll wait and see what actually releases. "A large team made of successful industry veterans with lots of funding from private investors" also describes Camelot Unchained.
"Armor and weapons in the game are historically accurate" is something i wouldn't necessarily say judging by the armor shown when he said it at 13:34 That coif is more of a Hollywood-style coif with how loose and open it is. And the hauberk also seems a bit loose and flappy. Historically plausible? Absolutely. But wealthy knights had their armor custom made and tightly fit to their own body size.
Its nice to see the announcement trailer based around the studio staff rather than the Publishers making a generic flashy fastpaced teaser... this alone impresses the target market massively.
Looks really good! Love the idea of building the world with other players. Will be interesting to see a sandbox this size and scope. Already wish listed it along with Quinfall. We'll see... also.. Big damage? 2:52
I like sexy girls with sexy armors. But unfortunately all those Asian games are boring as heck (grind for your super-divine mythic armor), and I don't like the game play, especially hate the combat. All eye and ear candy, but empty inside.
I definitely got Eve Online vibes during their announcement trailer. It sounds like the whole heartlands vs open areas lines up with how Eve Online has the "safe" sectors and then highsec, lowsec, and nullsec where players control those areas and they are much more dangerous. It will be interesting to see how this translates to a medieval themed swords and sorcery MMO. I went ahead and signed up to try to get into the Alpha, because this has the potential to be a very interesting game. As a side note, I believe that Eve Online also released a browser-based option recently, so it's not too surprising that this team that includes former CCP devs is going with a more accessible approach for playing this game. When they covered the non-pc ways to connect, they did seem refer to that as casual gaming and the lady that said she never owned a gaming PC called it her chance as a casual gamer to have her own "niche" thing to do, so it does seem like it will be a different experience when playing on a platform other than PC.
I was distracted for a few seconds to come back to your sponsorship ad on Crasher. Totally thought it was gameplay on Pax Dei and almost stopped watching right then and there haha. Phew!
The dev team have really experienced coders from ccp and 2 old blizard lore/story writer. To be honest team can't really be anybetter + they have same art team that did art work for wow mop and some parts of gw2
Looking forward to this, I hope they add a thirst and hunger system, as well as a campfire buff, nothing overly major though and no fast traveling paired with low lighting at night. Exploring should be arduous but should be rewarded with reasonable loot, resources and chests, preferably procedurally generated.
I think Pax dei looks pretty cool and surprisingly super chill to be considered an mmo. Mmo usually give off grind vibes but this look like everday virtual life vibes. I just hope it actually comes to fruition. Huge run on sentence incoming: I think for an mmo rather than progressive skill leveling (gear score /item level) it should incorporate progressive leveling based on player skill/performance (like for honor, where skill and item stats play a small role but the overall player experience and skill per character class can be used to advantage). I think it would be a cool idea if this was implemented in a "mmo" type game because new players would be able to jump in and not feel overwhelmed to catch up to consistent players and end game players can constantly find challenge in human trial and error via experimentation and boss/mob variation and not have to hide behind gear score and item level for content.
I'm worried that they're supporting mobile devices. As a game dev, I know that radically limits the scope of your experience. If it goes the way LP proposes and it's just very specific activities, it could be OK. But I'm nervous.
This is what we need! They look professional and show their experience by the way of talking of their game. If this works out like intented it will be absolutely amazing. Thank you for the great video and coverage.
An mmo id like to see is one where you have to fight back a horde to unlock new zones, resources, and dungeons/raids. And keep them back to retain it and keep the server alive because if you lose your last city it ends. So you have to set up defensive fortifications while trying to explore and gain more land.
I’ve heard and seen so many devs promising their amazing vision to us, about their new and groundbreaking MMO, that I can’t even get excited about MMOs anymore, much less hyped.
@@TheTruthWholeTruthNothingButTh Announced playtest on February 28 this year, meaning it's late alpha testing before beta release. So expect atleast 1, possibly 2 years more if all goes well. More realistic timeframe would be 3-4 years.
OMG...I want it now! I'm a builder on ESO. That's my end-game, so the idea that /we/ get to create the societies we want to live in, that is more exciting than I can say. I just pray that pvp won't sour the promise of the game. Bring it on!
The devs really manage to convey a genuine sense of excitement about their game, which I find very charming, and the graphics is stunning (as is to be expected from an U5-game, I guess). I will definitely try to sign up for the beta of this one.
Okay, this definitely has my interest. I love the idea and hearing the devs talk about it has me intrigued. I'm curious to see how this will grow and how it will turn out.
I’m always very skeptical about these ambitious MMOs, because it seems that they seldom ever see a full release. However, this one felt different. The team has a good foundation and sufficient outside support, and the game trailer was very honest and intentional, something I don’t see a lot of. I’ve been waiting for a true medieval-style MMORPG that blends historical elements with fantasy. It doesn’t seem to be your typical Tolkien-esque fantasy world, which is my go-to for RPGs, but it’s certainly a fresh idea worth exploring. I look forward to more information about this promising new title.
This looks fake as shit. I saw it when Asmongold reacted to it. They kept saying it looks gorgeous... is pre rendered.. is obviously fake... just put together for the trailer. That's why theres pretty much no combat at all, and the "combat" you get to see is obviously scripted.
I feel that UE5 has definitely paved a new pathway for the rebirth of new MMOs as-well as passionate start up companies that want to take on the huge project that is an MMO.
Both excited and worried on my part. Whenever you have a game that needs to be compatible on mobile.. Oh man.. Like you I truly hope the mobile gameplay resorts to crafting. That just drops my excitement into a big worry. If you want people to play the full experience on mobile, expect a lot to be compromised to run on mobile. I expect rather simplistic combat if that's the case and that'd be a huge turn off for me. Sure, it might be decent, but it won't ever be as good as it would be without having to run it on mobile. Anyway, time will tell!
The problem I have with the trailer for pax and quinfall is its just an ingame trailer. We only see the npc’s walking in different biomes. Though Quinfall did show perspective npc interactions.
While it's a nice vision they have, I can't help but feel skeptical. As we get more advanced game engines I think the ideas and ambition are being upscaled as well, leading to all these companies promising things they can't deliver on sadly.
Ashe of creation and Riot mmorpg are my top 2 top hope. This one just came in for the 3rd position. We got good chances to have 1 out of them 3 to be pretty good ! :)
After trying out Return of Reckoning again, and a few other old MMORPGs, I realized that the graphics don't matter much to me, nor the engine, nor the sound. The biggest thing that I miss, and wish was just a standard thing now, is a lack of shitty monetization. If it's cosmetic, I'd love to say "that's fine" but too many games then sell the best cosmetics, and nothing in the game drops naturally. Then it's boosting, XP bonuses, inventory expansions, and so on. I don't mind paying a monthly fee so long as I don't have to put up with that kind of systemic idiocy that comes with the F2P model. The game looks great. Absolutely stunning looking, and I have hope for it. I just hope it doesn't follow the samme path so many other incredibly disappointing games have taken.
I'm at a point where I don't even follow unreleased MMOs anymore. I just play what I play, and when they release I will try them or actually watch gameplay of it. No point in getting hyped for literally the same thing every time.
This game came out of nowhere to suddenly become THE game I am most looking forward to. I don't know about anyone else, but every once in a while I see a game and I get a feeling it's going to be "The One" and that's the feeling I get from PD.
They've literally showed you nothing. Except what any art student could make for their final art project in school. And talking about it. That makes you call something a masterpiece? Im genuinly surprised that people are sold on graphics so damn hard. They havn't showed you even a sliver of substance. Nothing.
Clunkreal Engine... Hopefully they'll keep optimization at heart because that engine is notorious for having pop-ins and more. Especially in open-world games.
coming from eve developers i feel they can balance casual/solo play with big and medium guild play along with faction war for organized guild stuff with an NPC faction for more casual players
Hnng, im getting silk road flash backs! You telling me there's layers beyond questing, raiding and pvp!? Can't wait to farm a pack mule, buy some ore from a player built mine, transport it back to a player built city and make a fat buck at the blacksmith.
When he talked about walking in an empty world and he could see years down the road where players will have built things there. - SWEET SWEET WORDS, we'll see indeed.
The fact that they are focused on a more historical realism in the character armor/designs/buildings alone gets a upvote from me. I'm so tired of over the top garish gonzo fantasy armor.
I mean the casual economy player feeding the risky PVP/Bossing characters makes Runescape work really well as a sandbox mmo concept, and I imagine Eve as well. Looks cool!
I don't want to be that guy, but I just don't believe our expectations will ever be met by a new MMORPG. When a new genre comes up that's definitely possible because of all the novelty involved, but not anymore for MMORPGs, in my opinion. When I say our/we I mean people whose favorite MMORPGs are games such as runescape, ragnarok, WoW classic/TBC, tibia, EQ, UO, etc., I'm talking about us, the OGs. I honestly believe that even if a game meets all of our best expectations in-game, most of us can't play as much as we could back then and we also won't *really* experience things for the first time like we did back then. I hope I'm wrong and that the 10 hours per week I have available to play games are enough to make me happy again gaming wise, but I believe that creating expectations is the best way to be disappointed.
I was totally getting Eve vibes from the whole heartlands in the center, spreading into the wilderness very much how high security to null security works in the Eve world. Once you said it had Eve players as developers on the team, I think I know what we are in for. A player driven crafting economy, with high emphasizes on group interactions, probably guilds, building their own towns and fighting for control of these hostile regions they now call home. Oh boy am I excited. Eve is everything I was in an mmo, minus the spaceships and space part really.. If Pax Dei is basically a medieval high fantasy Eve online, I might have found my new forever home..
I think it's probably just how he talks, but the CEO sounds like he was holding back tears a couple times when talking about the game. It must be really emotional finally talking about this for them.
Monetization & Grind. Those are the two things that have me wary of any new mmo and we won't know anything about that until it comes out. I appreciate that this trailer doesn't hype it the game up, but we also need to wait a good long while before we can put faith in this game. Stay wary.
The only thing that i can say is, There will be a Mythical weapons from mythical creatures as legendary drops and is sooo very rare and expensive per piece. Then the thing that i get excited off is the MASSIVE BLOODY BRUTAL PVP that will happen outside the heartlands.. since the biomes and or gatherables are more needed in crafting.. people will be fighting for it, not mention the Creature hunts/Boss hunts that will be made by players and guilds/clans.. and The onset of Battle for each town/city after the boss fights LMAO. :D :D
I've watched this video, been in their discord for a couple weeks, read their "AMA"s, and I still have no idea what this game is actually about or when it's coming out. So uh, neato but I'm just going to backburner this until there's a game to be excited about.
The real big gamechanger will be the dynamic simulation of semi-realistic NPC. They have the potential to create believable worlds to which we can escape to. Many MMO veterans want a world in which they can immerse themselves. The culture of MMOs is mostly speed and optimisation driven. Some games are more oriented to single-player experiences in an MMO world, but therefore lack advanced social interactions - with players as with NPCs. The integration will be a long way to go, even with the more believable social interactions with LLMs like ChatGPT. Simulations of behavior like persistent interactions, migration due to in-game situations such as economic changes or war or other threats, as well as logical initiative and quest generation are still not feasible.
The game is really nice. It requires a lot of resources grinding just build and craft. It's great to play with friends. There are many parts of the maps that you can't build which is sad. I wish there's terraforming so you can at least create a mining area or have a freedom to elevate the floor. The combat still in the works at least
>sheathed sword of believable proportions >sheath on hip with proper suspension >believable armour which makes sense Holy shit this is holy grail of visual design, wish more companies went for this kinda thing
Thx for the video, as always good job. Do we know anything about how the payment for the game will be / planning to be? Will it be subscription based, in-game store, one time pay player forever or what ever? And do we know anything about the server capacity? One big server or many small servers, etc?
So, i heard it cost a lot to build a huge starship and then a war to destroy it all in EVE online, rinse and repeat for money sinks. Safe to assume it will be the same huge investment to build up the castle and then regular wars to delete them all, rinse and repeat for money sinks.
Are there any old Shadowbane devs on this? I saw UBI in there, and am hoping. That game was a beast with open world city building and GvG/Siege combat. One of my all time favorite mmos.
I've seen this kind of talk before. While the dev's hearts could be in the right place, It ultimately comes to how they deliver it and how it's received by the public. The sandbox aspect is a tricky landscape to walk in. I hope It's successful!

Loved Ark and Conan Exiles and love playing MMOs and this looks to bring both of them into a single game (which is a dream game to me)
@@brandonenke2680 I don't have a problem with cross plat just that it takes a lot of focus to do when it's their first big MMO maybe that should come later. I just want an MMO that is about story and adventure rather than rush to end game and get gear. The gear means nothing if I don't care about the actual world. Hopefully this can get it done.
@@Roachers Honestly Mmos should not have a story, They should be UR OWN STORY AND ADVENTURE. That is what is missing now from Old mmos of the past. They had great giant worlds with tons of details and lore. You were just a tiny part of it to, explore and adventure and write your own story as you adventured and explored. This has been LOST... and I don't know even if they Created such an MMO if Most younger people would care.
@@douglasduda9826 Very good point. I belive that ppl have lost that sence of goal. Where you dont have dots pointing everywhere and a story, but you need to go out and find a dungeon, monster, lore etc. You can still have quests that tell interesting things and chain togheter, but it doesnt always have to be "kill this (insert threat) or world will burn".
I think they will. The developers themselves have been playing MMOs their whole life, and they also no longer have as many hours to put into gaming 😄
well, in the past there was old people playing mmo's as well.
It also makes me wonder how fast those investors will want their money back.
"The furter you go out, the more dangerous it gets" made me think about Eves zones. Then hearing there are Eve devs pretty much makes me hyped :)
"Armor and weapons in the game are historically accurate" is something i wouldn't necessarily say judging by the armor shown when he said it at 13:34
That coif is more of a Hollywood-style coif with how loose and open it is. And the hauberk also seems a bit loose and flappy. Historically plausible? Absolutely. But wealthy knights had their armor custom made and tightly fit to their own body size.
I love the homage to historically inspired equipment and lore. Looks beautiful as well. The combat is a huge question mark though.
We'll see...
also.. Big damage? 2:52
Sounds interesting, not expecting it to be a breakthrough game but I will keep an eye on it
One of the things I like about this game is the realistic and practical armor designs.
Good, maybe everyone who complains about sexy armor can finally go play something else instead of complaining in every game with sexy armor.
I like sexy girls with sexy armors. But unfortunately all those Asian games are boring as heck (grind for your super-divine mythic armor), and I don't like the game play, especially hate the combat. All eye and ear candy, but empty inside.
@@AlleyCatNinja Yep, helps with immersion and staying away from creeps who feels the need to sexualize everything. Enjoy!
Im happy about low fantasy and historically accurate, realistic equipment. High fantasy is fine, but no armor looks better than realistic armor.
I'll believe it when it releases..... too many good looking projects with no release dates in sight hopefully this one breaks through
This MMORPG is sad, I wish we had more old-school MMORPGs or even just the original looks and style, still my favorite MMO is Celtic Heroes.
I was distracted for a few seconds to come back to your sponsorship ad on Crasher. Totally thought it was gameplay on Pax Dei and almost stopped watching right then and there haha. Phew!
Saw a lot Finnish names on dev team and seems like the company is in fact located in Finland, would be nice to see some successful mmo from here
The dev team have really experienced coders from ccp and 2 old blizard lore/story writer. To be honest team can't really be anybetter + they have same art team that did art work for wow mop and some parts of gw2
Website says they are in Iceland.
Finnish company, offices in Helsinki, Paris and Reykjavik
Looking forward to this, I hope they add a thirst and hunger system, as well as a campfire buff, nothing overly major though and no fast traveling paired with low lighting at night. Exploring should be arduous but should be rewarded with reasonable loot, resources and chests, preferably procedurally generated.
The dev team is really good for this and they have some really big names to build the world and story.
I think Pax dei looks pretty cool and surprisingly super chill to be considered an mmo. Mmo usually give off grind vibes but this look like everday virtual life vibes. I just hope it actually comes to fruition.
Huge run on sentence incoming:
I think for an mmo rather than progressive skill leveling (gear score /item level) it should incorporate progressive leveling based on player skill/performance (like for honor, where skill and item stats play a small role but the overall player experience and skill per character class can be used to advantage).
Yea this game will never come out, or just flop and be a waste of time and money
Never get excited about MMO's, but lets hope!
Lol true there are already some concerns due to the use of certain buzz words or phrases. Maybe it will be awesome though. Hopefully
@@cynthiahembree3957 Can't blame gamers being jaded, but hope dies last I suppose.
"you may be at work or in the car" .. yes finally we can play MMORPGs while wageslaving and driving
This is exactly what I was looking for: good old school RPG with Western style
Nicely put together. Opted in for alpha, looking forward to this one!
When does this come out?
@@josejuanandrade4439 If it's fake... why aren't they asking you for money?
Thanks!
Ashe of creation and Riot mmorpg are my top 2 top hope. This one just came in for the 3rd position. We got good chances to have 1 out of them 3 to be pretty good ! :)
Do you really think that ashes of creation will ever comes out?
@@illeire2627 well, this one is probably gonna be first, and then Riot mmorpg and Ashes... In 2 years from now. More or less.
If only one of these amazing MMO ideas ever released. That would be quite a thing indeed.
I'm at a point where I don't even follow unreleased MMOs anymore. I just play what I play, and when they release I will try them or actually watch gameplay of it. No point in getting hyped for literally the same thing every time.
Incredible looking team ... not like a "give us your money, we will do something then ... maybe".
This game came out of nowhere to suddenly become THE game I am most looking forward to. I don't know about anyone else, but every once in a while I see a game and I get a feeling it's going to be "The One" and that's the feeling I get from PD.
Good impressions so far...if they achieve to deliver what they promise and showcase its gonna be a masterpiece
Especially in open-world games.
sounds decent ive been waiting along time for a new mmorpg that isnt another new world
me too, i cant wait for something new
coming from eve developers i feel they can balance casual/solo play with big and medium guild play along with faction war for organized guild stuff with an NPC faction for more casual players
Pax Dei definitely could be one of the MMOs of all time.
yes, if the game actually manages to release at some point it most definitely will have become one of the mmos of all times...
Hnng, im getting silk road flash backs! You telling me there's layers beyond questing, raiding and pvp!? Can't wait to farm a pack mule, buy some ore from a player built mine, transport it back to a player built city and make a fat buck at the blacksmith.
things in unreal start to look more and more real.. I love fantasy landscapes and armor skins but this all looked plain and realistic
ikr. imagine unreal 7 or 8ish with full dive neurolink
@@bushy9780 matrix =P
When he talked about walking in an empty world and he could see years down the road where players will have built things there. - SWEET SWEET WORDS, we'll see indeed.
I won't lie, i am not enjoying this new format, 15min of someone's raw teaser + 3 min commentary is kinda wack
Those people sound serious as hell. Organized, driven, grounded and extremely focused.
The fact that they are focused on a more historical realism in the character armor/designs/buildings alone gets a upvote from me. I'm so tired of over the top garish gonzo fantasy armor.
Why is all the plate armor gleaming so much ? Like any source of light is like a laser beam straight at your eyes
An MMO made by vikingr’s with a big budget. This should be interesting
2023 is going to be crazy for games, especially this month.
The big one punch RE 4 remaster for March
I mean the casual economy player feeding the risky PVP/Bossing characters makes Runescape work really well as a sandbox mmo concept, and I imagine Eve as well. Looks cool!
Considering I played EvE for close to 12 years... this has shot to the top of my hype list.
I got a Pax Dei ad for this Pax Dei video. Very interesting accuracy, TH-cam. Are you SPYING ON US?!
I will believe it when i see it, but also, I appreciate how they are presenting it. Though, I'd reduce the emotional undertones a little.
I think it's probably just how he talks, but the CEO sounds like he was holding back tears a couple times when talking about the game. It must be really emotional finally talking about this for them.
Amazing how awesome they all are in pre alpha.
yo i was just looking on your channel the other day to see if you've reviewed this one yet XD glad ya got to it so quick.
Monetization & Grind. Those are the two things that have me wary of any new mmo and we won't know anything about that until it comes out.
I appreciate that this trailer doesn't hype it the game up, but we also need to wait a good long while before we can put faith in this game. Stay wary.
Can't wait! A new mmo to casually play during work!
It sounds like it is a very fancy sandbox.
Without a strong narrative or hook beyond that, I don't see it being overly popular.
We'll see though.
0:55 that type in world STATS (STAUS haha) instantly made me wanna play it! :D
You got the same games that I’m excited for Ashes, Riot MMO, Archeage 2, Pax Dei, TL
Makes me hopeful... microtransactions? Open world trade? Group dynamics... these are my biggest questions.
we want wait to see what you create... you're the dev thats your job. I've never seen a game I believed in less than this
Can't wait to play it in 10 years
The real big gamechanger will be the dynamic simulation of semi-realistic NPC.
The combat still in the works at least
>sheathed sword of believable proportions
>sheath on hip with proper suspension
>believable armour which makes sense
Holy shit this is holy grail of visual design, wish more companies went for this kinda thing
Who are you quoting?
Thx for the video, as always good job.
Do we know anything about how the payment for the game will be / planning to be? Will it be subscription based, in-game store, one time pay player forever or what ever?
And do we know anything about the server capacity? One big server or many small servers, etc?
will keep my eye on it however im curious about wich platforms they will do not entirely a fan of crossplay
One of my all time favorite mmos.
so is this like Valheim MMO or a Theme Park MMO like World of Warcraft?
I want the Valheim MMO please
I've seen this kind of talk before. While the dev's hearts could be in the right place, It ultimately comes to how they deliver it and how it's received by the public. The sandbox aspect is a tricky landscape to walk in. I hope It's successful!
