That's the biggest concern? Nah mega guilds are going to run servers and burn them to the ground. There wont be any real reward unless you join a 1k+ size guild community and that means a large portion of the content is gate kept to everyone else.
This is bad, but not as bad as bots farming 24/7 and flooding the market. You being mercenaries for real money instead of ingame gold isnt a big deal for the economy of a server.
Legit not a problem tho, that is just you roleplaying mercenaries in the game. It's still real people who are needed to protect the caravans, and not bots like it is in straight up gold buying, so therefore you wont be able to overflood the market with this service, as there literally aint enough people.
Id be more worried that kickstarter MMORPGs have a 99% fail rate of either never being fully released or just being the biggest pile of trash, before worrying about how they make money off it.
Considering they have put more than double the amount of money made off of kickstarter into the project would make them the 1% that is different than every other kickstarter MMO.
@@Torchlight_Studios Facts and figures do not support ANY of your theory crafting. Take that kind of talk to the Star Citizen Community, they have been doing it for 13 years and counting.
@@MerchantIvoryfilms ok cause they didn’t say today on the AMA that so far they have invested 90 million which 30 million came from kickstarter and cosmetic pack sales and the other 60 million Steven has footed the bill. I would say my facts are 100% correct.
I don't get why Peon acts like bonds and wow tokens being exchanged for IRL money makes it so that the in game currency will get mapped to a real life currency. In a free trade game, there will always be a real life currency equivalency, and without a doubt, there will be gold sellers for a game like this. I think the best way that a game can make it fair, so that they aren't profiting off of the players, is to make the in game currency trade-able like a cryptocurrency for IRL money. Regardless there WILL be gold sellers, at least this way makes it secure and easier to track.
@@DinsAFK bro making the game pay to win by default is not good. they will never get people like me to play it if they make it possible to buy gold/dont ban gold sellers.
What I don't like about Ashes of Creation is that it will likely end up being a guild or alliance of no lifer guilds that dominate the server, since a chunk of the end game content will be PVP based. You will have an influx of players at launch but the game will bleed casuals, the life blood of any MMO, as time goes on. I hope this isn't the case, but we will see.
With sandbox economy, its impossible to keep playing on the same server forever like in wow.. Soon a large guild dominates the server, and everybody waits for a reset. Its a game of server cycles. Dunno if AOC will try to prevent this somehow, but my experience with sandbox economy MMOs is that it always happens
Crownfall had a really nice solution to this problem by allowing a guild to basically "win". Which rewarded them and reset the world. Devs had a lot of great ideas but not a lot of great engineering to be able to deliver the game in the form that they wanted to
th-cam.com/video/GTplwFJu2Ck/w-d-xo.html People who haven't played these types of games always say that but it isn't true. Large guilds/alliances rarely hold their power for too long.
This game is still 3-4 years out, and that's not exaggerating. They've bitten off far more than they can chew. I would really like to see them pick a couple systems and focus development on those, then add more systems as the game gets older.

There are still classes, races, and armors missing as well. You will be lucky to see a release by 2030.
I agree part of what I really enjoy about the start of an MMO is when I loot something amazing and get that hit of dopamine when i can sell it at a high price because its rare, or feeling like my gathering has worth, one of the biggist hits I got when going back to wow was how bad it felt to gather things same with GW2 I want to feel like I can make gold doing gathering without the market being flooded by bots hammering the economy so that progression is easer if you pay for gold
But Steven said it was already 100% funded, that was 1000% a lie cuz they just made over $20,000,000 just selling for alpha 2 (which was supposed to be online until release, and yet they decided to change it last minute and they won't deliver on that), don't mind the millions they pocketed already from selling the $500 packs and the kickstarter.

If I'm forced to play on a server with (extreme) Sweatlord spreadsheet guilds and/or Streamers I won't bother playing. Unlike a "standard" game with PVE as the central focus, a PVP focused game just amplifies their BS and would make it unbearable to play there.
True Pvp is a joke anymore in most games that have it. The streamers and trolls and no lifer people. Plus, its not about who is better at a game, but who can abuse things to win aka win no matter the cost. Also, a huge Marketing thing is BIG numbers of players but honestly. That never has been fun not 1 time in ANY mmo. Its always been more fun to have small groups maybe 5 or 6 at most and then all your actions actually matter and can affect what happens. I don't hold much hope for mmos until AI is making and changing most of it LIVE.
Cheating in video game should ALWAYS be punished by perma ban. If you cant get good in game without cheating, the only thing you need to do is stop playing.
Cheating I agree with: Like aimbots, also cheating in singleplayer offline games is FINE. but for RMT It won't stop the bots, and it won't make the game better. Those people will likely call it quits and go to another game before maso-playing content they don't like.

@Schmorgus I have before. I've jumped around to a lot of mmos though, and a lot of that talk is normally at the beginning of an mmo start. Phrases like "I hope X doesn't punish the people buying good when they should really be punishing the sellers" "People are going to buy it if it's available, it's not their fault, it's the gold sellers" I've been in mmos for about 27 years now myself. LazyPeon also discusses this in his video.
One should avoid to ban players imo. I think they should spend their time in to, how can we make the game fun and make it so that players don't want to buy gold, instead, how do we make them want to farm gold? GW2 had lots of ways to farm gold, some better than others sure, but if you got tired of a way you could do something, all you did was generally farming gold. Warframe has a market, and it's really easy to sell stuff and farm. Relics, to mods or whatever. There are many ways there too. Make it FUN.
Bro I forgot about this game and honestly I don’t really care about it anymore, also the pvp caravan type of gameplay never really screamed fun to me I don’t like my inventory being tied to weight or having the possibility of my stuff getting stolen forced pvp will never be fun

What I fear the most in Ashes are twitch streamer mega guilds filling an area with trolls or making it impossible to do anything else but work for them because they'll own the biggest nodes indefinitely.
You know when you're playing a PvP game and you're on a team of randos that comes up against a pre-made squad and you get stomped? Now imagine that same pre-made had 10%-50% more health and damage than your team and double the number of players. That's what PvP MMOs are like.

i mean Steven has said from day 1 that they will put lots of effort, and build their code from the ground up, to stop bots and RMT etc. so i think that it will be a much smaller concern than in older games that didnt have a robust system to combat this, or even more modern games that dont have active GMs
I remember my brother bought gold during the first expansion of WoW I told him that he should be careful that he doesn't get hacked or banned. A few months later he got hacked and almost lost he account lol
You'd have to be pretty dumb to get "hacked" buying gold. You only need to give your character name so they send you the gold ingame, you can't get hacked by character name only. He must've had a weak password or he got phished or downloaded a RAT later on. You can't get hacked by simply buying gold unless you are stupid.
These devs aren't stupid, they want this game to last.. They didn't put millions into this project to step on their own feet. But look at the GW2 model, account bound currencies control a lot of what you can do.. So even if you have 10s of Thousands of gold.. To make Legedary armor you still need to work at it and complete content/farm certain currencies.
They stepped on their own feet from the start by refusing to have PvE servers. PvE players are the overwhelming majority of the MMO community and only a small percentage of PvE will put up with forced PvP content. The majority of Ashes end/late game content and events are forced PvP. Ashes will have a big population at the start and will drop off very fast as people get to the higher level zones where they're forced to be flagged for PvP. It will be a shell of its launch population within a year of launch. They already stepped on their own feet.
@@traviscue2099 The time to bring these issues up is BEFORE launch, when they can still be addressed and fixed. You don't wait until the car is on the road to fix the fatal design flaws.
From what I remember, Intrepid already took the stance you were mentionning. Extremely harsh penalties on gold buyers, setting up "honeypots" to catch buyers/sting operations, etc. You nailed it, that is the way to go. Even if it's "only" a 50% chance to get permabanned if you bought gold, you'd drastically cut down the people who just buy gold because they know the risk is 0,001% of anything significant happening.

I keep thinking how bad things got with Archage where for $500 USD you could get plenty enough gold to get fully max'd out endgame gear and while that seems like a lot of money, when i was paying a sub of $12-15/mo for multiple years trying to min max ever labor point and turn it into gold so i can 'properly earn', show up to every daily and weekly reset raid for multiple years just to creep my way up slightly with the non-tradable easier to obtain gear; I could easily have just worked a fulltime job for a week and bought the stuff the endgame was using. But thats half the reason AA failed; the other half was that the people who could afford to swipe were able to obtain that gear and they created a toxic society of pure-pvp players that if you didn't pvp you didn't matter, didn't get payouts from raids, and instead of going after server progression on daily/weekly content, they would make it their life mission to make sure the other faction could never score a win on a rare/high value boss. AA let toxic people horde all the power, and then keep others from being able to play the game.
1. Zerging = it destroy the game for me if you just go " on mass " and get bonuses if you join " big guilds" , you will see 100x twink guilds and they will make mafia shit 2. 1 Server = you can easly overload a server whit this popularity , you cant even farm good if your server is this full . Many games use more servers to make sure you have a healthy eco and balance. for me RMT is a big point too ! ... the only way to prevent this is to get something valuble just whit hard skill. if you can farm something whitout risk / afk you will see a bot army. Active gm´s are the way to make this game better , but if you know mortal online 2 , you see peopel that get GM´s to give friends " gifts " . so .. its hard.
Maybe i misunderstood number 2 but the game is not one server it will have multiple servers its one if the games selling points that no one server will be alike because the players decide what nodes get upgraded and get that content that goes along with it so each server will be a different experience
Zerging happens in the most popular MMOs currently on the market, and those MMOs have been around for years now. No zerg means no one is actually playing the game, and it's dead. Go play Skyrim or something.
My biggest concern is that us, Lineage2 players, we are waiting for so many years to show the rest of the MMO community how it's done, but we will be past 40 until the game comes out!
Additionally - similar to banks - create a max threshold of gold transfer account to account per day. To unlock that threshold (or make tiers of that threshold), there needs to be a sign-off that will be logged. Now the number of transactions the dev needs to check is smaller, and any suspicious activity is easier to find.
0:11 it will have a monthly sub-fee. Which is a pretty huge deal for players with a harsh economy cuz of their countries you know??? Also, that kind of monetization gives players an awful feeling of "having to play the game...otherwhise your throwing away your money... monthly". Which doesn't happen in some other games like Guild Wars 2, where you can simply TAKE A BREAK!, come back 6 months later & keep playing like nothing happen to your wallet.
Best way to combat RMT is in-game IRS/banking rules both automatic as well as manual. If IRL you receive a certain amount of cash it automatically triggers alerts and it will be investigated whether it was fraudulously obtained or not comparing your income among other things. The advantage gaming has in this is, everything is measured and tracked because it is a fenced off environment. They can know your playtime, activities and related income.
Permabans have NEVER stopped gold farming or gold selling. People just make or buy a new account. Also, the only way to stop gold buying is to target the reason people do it.
The reason people do it is human nature. Nothing stops that. Ban people and most people will be too scared to buy gold, lowering demand. Lower demand makes selling gold less lucrative. The vast majority of people aren't going to keep making new accounts every time they get banned, lol. This isn't a free to play game.
@rext3404 Except, we have evidence to the contrary. If permabans worked, why is real world trading still a massive problem in many games? Some people buy gold no matter what but a lot of people do it because there is a root problem found in the game itself that can be corrected. If we keep with your outdated thinking, it will always be a massive problem.
@@boredfangerrude8759 so what would you do to adress it? why not ban cheaters? how would you deal with them cheating? send themn a fruit basked and ask them nicely to become honorful people?
@captainbube1217 The reason people buy gold is it's too hard to get money in game so reduce that. Then, make anyone who continues to pay a fine and if they don't, they don't get to play.
Totally agree with you. When I played WOW a rogue in our raid group was openly botting, when he got caught he simply asked Blizzard how much money it would cost to unlock his account.
Suddenly Blizzard has to chose between investing money into making the game better by implementing ways of getting rid of botting, or they can profit off of it instead.
It won't be pay for convenience? Is there any citation for that? Since they've gone all out with FOMO cash shop stuff already in the alpha phases, I would be shocked if there's no pay for convenience.
Im just rambling here but maybe they could do a hybrid system where you have a tradeable currency which is used for basic things such as low end mounts, purchasable crafting materials, non magical level based weapons, common house decorations, ect. But for anything premium or end game it uses a non tradeable currency like black desert that the player would have to attain. You also could have 2 or more of each of these currencies used for different things. Its not a perfect solution like lazypeon said but it would require less long term maintenance and enforcement. I also appreciate that the more time someone plays the more in game rewards they should be able to get. However it would be nice if casual players could at least earn a min/max of certain currencies or reputation while offline. Many other mmorpgs have done this like project gorgon where you can log out near an npc to gain small reputation with them. This could be done for currency as well.
thing is I’m at an age where i don’t have the time to invest 10+ hours learning a new MMO so when that urge to play an MMO shows up every couple years i’d rather just play WOW….if AOC came out like 10 years ago i’d be hyped af but in 2024 nah….

Shoplifting under 1000$ in NYC is still a crime and you can still go to jail for up to a year. If you were starving in NYC it is doubtful that the crime being a felony vs a misdemeanor would change your mind about stealing.
He missed the point. Shoplifting in NYC might get you shot. Sounded good, until he forgot ppl have all their savings invested in those items your stealing. NYC upgrades shoplifting upto Robbery any act that requires force or weapon of any type. This is all the discretion of the judge. No loop holes when it comes to a 3 strikes and your out.
My biggest concern for Ashes of Creation involves hardcore PvPers vs. casuals and PvErs. Even with a bounty system in place, I believe the griefing will still be so bad that the everyone will quit. Make no mistake, hardcore pvpers are the extreme minority of the MMO community. So to tailor a game to their preferences, especially a game that requires a large, diverse player base to survive, will kill every and any game in the industry.
Curious about how the playerbase will react to something like this. You talk a lot about what you would want but I assume that you also wouldn't want to be playing the game alone.
one thing is going to happen, launch will be a shait show, ppl will complain, lots of ppl will play and leave, others will stay, happens all the time. p2w or not, that's how things works nowadays
It is kind of weird that you posted a screenshot of the law about shoplifting in NYC and then said they don't punish thieves? I'm not sure what the point of that is, but in the screenshot and on that site, it definitely says it is a Class A Misdemeanor of "Petit Larceny" and punishable by up to a year in jail. Prosecutors can also aggregate multiple petit larceny chages into a grand larceny charge now.
Typical right wing lies, they can just count on nobody of their audience bothering to read or even understanding what they read. They did the same thing with COVID, claiming lies, then linking science articles they say prove their claims, but when you actually read those articles yourself you realized they said the opposite. Didn't realize he was one of them though, that's a hard unsub.
I can't see myself playing a "modern" game that has the look and feel of games from the early to mid 2000s era. I am utterly spoiled by games like Black Desert. Also with regards to gold selling that tends to ruin games, Black Desert did a great job at eliminating that altogether. You would think not being able to trade almost anything valuable in an MMO would ruin the experience but it works.
5:18 That's literally not what that shoplifting thing says, that's just tiltle clickbait plus propaganda. Even in the article on screen you can see it's just it wouldn't be a felony and instead a misdemeanor with the potential of a year in jail.
5:21 Yes, you do get punished if its under $1k. It is a Class A Larceny Misdemeanor. You will go to jail and pay a fine. If you keep doing it, you will go to jail for a long time.
Imagine pulling up evidence of the claim, and that evidence clearly debunks said claim. Bro bought into the propaganda about the change and pretended to do DD about it.
I'm worried about two things... 1) is it suffering from feature creep so much that it never gets released? 2) bots..hand in hand with real money trades.
Boring. I was hoping you'd talk about the garbage combat or something gameplay related. BDO still has RMT, by the way, you could pay people to grind on your account.
My Biggest concern with AoC is their systems are too restrictive in nature and only a small subset of the player base, gets to participate in large portions of the game ala New World Territory Wars. I'm not an advocate for everyone should be able to do everything, but certain activities being walled off hasn't helped player retention in previous MMO's.
It is one of the most generic looking games i have seen in a while and it is way too ambitous to boot. I have been looking up all kinds of videos and content about the game and it just reminds me of a worse looking and more generic New World. so weird..and they want subscription payment? holy
@@Torchlight_Studios Very well. Gameplay looks insanely boring, animations are over the top and still awful, their stream was showoff of things they cannot achieve unless they somehow rake in millions upon millions out of freaking nowhere. The game will never release and if it does, it will be a trainwreck. Or in US-terms: a schoolshooting. Take your pick.
The reason why this exists is because creating such an environment costs so much money people have no idea about, the only option is perma ban, zero dolerance. But building websites or hireing extra teams to hunt rmt is going to cost way too much money compared to hacing detection systems, which is where now a days AI can come in and do most of the heavy lifting, but training and implementing AI in such a way is exspensive as well, it really depends on how much are the companies willing to spend.
Just for the record; the penalties for shoplifting under $1000 in NYC are fines, community service, and potential imprisonment for up to one year. Watch out for that conservative propaganda.
On top of punishing buyers, there should be an incentive system for identifying and reporting gold sellers. Punish players who repeatedly falsely report gold sellers. Offer tiers of rewards for number of positive reports with cosmetics, titles, and other vanity items. Then you have the community monitoring the supply side.
Why do streamers cry about p2w but then advertising mobile p2w shitshows like Raid etc? Anyhow, my biggest concern with AoC is that they just want too much and shits gonna end up being a full-time job for univ-skipping studens and wayfare-checkers
The problem with removing the possibility of players being able to RMT is the fact that a lot of players will just outright quit and move onto games where it *IS* possible, or at least where the grind is not too heavy. Developers like Jagex know that if they nuke any of the economys around the game like RMT or botting that the player base will plummet and they'll also kill themselves. Sometimes you need to balance a little of the bad with the good for a successful recipe.
Vanilla WoW took 8 years and it was a completely different landscape for making games in the early 2000's. The amount of systems and the types of things that players expect now are different also. If it takes 10 years to make a great game then it takes 10 years to make.
that line about not punishing people who don't steal over $1000 dollars, no decent-sized municipality in the US criminalizes shoplifting. it's literally a waste of everyone's time to prosecute someone for stealing, when most people do it apparently and the criminals they'd be in with cause tens of thousands or more in real or social damages. also showing pictures of armed robbery with your "petty theft" is very inaccurate. that's exactly the kind of crime they are prosecuting regardless of how much financial damage it causes, especially NYC where they have zero tolerance for gun crime.
If PVE sucks, as in, it does not provide a rewarding experience where you can grind dungeons/raid/world bosses over and over to get increasingly better gear score, then this game will fail. PVP is great, but cannot sustain an MMORPG on its own. From what I've seen so far in the videos covering this game, it's very VERY PVP focused, to the point where I'm predicting that this game will not succeed.
The game is PVX with a big focus on PVP, this is not WoW; there is already that available to play. The best gear will not be dropped from dungeons/raids etc anyway. Crafters will make the best gear, so no there will not be a grind for BIS running the same boring dungeon 1000's of time game loops. The game is not being made for a broad audience it is for a specific MMO player and you may not be that type.
This game is pvp focused at its core there is pve but they have said this game is not for everyone their so many pve mmos that ppl can play this is not one if them. If you dont like pvp and just want to pve this game is not for you

RMT in BDO used to be really really bad. Back then you could gift real money items to people and people would use this as a way to "trade" for a chance at bidding on an item on AH. They since taken out gifting.
How about if you are caught your account is wiped and then you have to start from day 1 and then caught again you are banned? There definitely has to be a major penalty for such crime.
I havent been up to date as much on Ashes, but even though i really want this game to succeed for years to come, i fear this game will be good for a while and then fall off hard fast. A few people/guilds will dominate a large portion, if not all of the game and just destroy the economy for every person that hasnt been playing from the start. A recent example for this is New World, wich had a similar node system, though much simpler and not as fleshed out. Also stuff like "only a few people on the server will have a flying mount" this stuff maybe be cool for hardcore players, but will only do harm, agitate and drive off normal and casual players... i would rather have no flying mounts, becasue it makes the world feel bigger
NewWorld did not have a node system, it had cities that guilds controlled. This will not be the case in Ashes as the mayor will not be able to do anything without the approval of the citizens so there will be no extremely high taxes feeding a guild. The node is for all citizens of the node to benefit from. Having special mounts for mayors gives players something to strive for. WoW ruined having unique things in game now everybody can have everything which gives 0 incentive to actually do things that other players arent. Unique items don't drive casuals away like you think they do. They didn't in any previous MMO that had them. WoW was at it's biggest population when there were unique items that not everyone could get. That didn't drive away the games population.
@@Torchlight_Studios Everything u said... yes, but here is a big difference between city/continent-wide socialstructures and a 10-40man raid. Getting a rare drop is very different to something you actively have to socialse for. If people would be fair, DKP would have never been necessary. There is a big difference between a 0,1% dropchance and 0%, wich is especially common among players that come later. Some people will say "hey thats cool i wish, i had that... someday i will get that!" but the majority of players will just think "yeah cool, but who cares if i cant get it anyway"...
Agree 100% on heavy handed bans for people who buy gold. One of my main greivances of lost ark was guildies just going into negative gold territory (only to buy more gold anyway) while I'm out here grinding like the game is designed. Also love the idea of studio ran gold selling sites
limit accounts to 2 per IP and require a legitimate ID per account and this will limit the number of alt accounts people can have, also limit the number/amount of gold transfers between friends. You can never stop alts/gold farmers but you can increase the barrier to entry and therefore reduce the overall number and effect they have
My biggest concern is just how the entire project has been handled with all the early access overpriced cosmetic packs, now even alpha access for 120 bucks, and how they haven't been able to pay their taxes, especially that last one inspires zero confidence. Then on top of that one of their investors is sueing them. As far as I'm concerned this project is dead until we actually see a release, I've lost my faith, even if it does i find it hard to believe there wont be scummy monetization involved.
The easiest way to discourage gold buying/selling, is by eliminating the ability to trade currencies, note, im not suggesting they prevent “gear trading”, but the amount of hassle that would come about trying or buy advancements would discourage this sort of problem. I don’t see any real reason to allow currency trading in general.
Since reaching max level in Ashes will take a very long time, the devs should prevent trading until players hit max level, except for basic items like health potions and only with friends, with strict limits. Essentially, everyone levels as an Ironman-no trading, no gold transfers to alts or low-level friends. Additionally, the game should be a $30 one-time purchase with a $10-$15 monthly subscription. Each account should be tied to a unique motherboard and phone number. Players who accurately report bots and RWTs should be rewarded with titles, cosmetics, etc., encouraging the community to help ban offenders. This forces botters and RWTs to repeatedly buy the game, use unique hardware and phone numbers, and level up to max-a process that takes time and exposes them to bans. The hassle, cost, and risk will significantly deter them. Getting caught buying or selling after reaching max level results in a permanent ban with no exceptions. But I think there's a bigger concern for this game as others have stated: "Mega guilds are going to run servers and burn them to the ground" & "Only a select few will get actual rewards and the rest will just be workslaves to fund the top guild leaders just like IRL"
8:40 Wizard 101 has this, but people use bots to buy away materials and resell it to someone that wants, in turn trade for real life money. That system will not prevent illegal against terms of service trading at all, just makes ecomony even more unfair.
I've been out of MMORPGs for a few years now but I played WoW from vanilla to Cata. I used to buy Gold to avoid doing Dailies(back when that was all you got which made them seem less of a mandatory chore but i digress) or to Train a skill. WoW was borderline Perfect back then for a Casual Gold Buyer. The Things you could buy with Gold weren't really things that allowed you to increase in power unless you were paying for runs. The Tokens are far worse. Worse to the point that I won't play any MMORPGs with them. I also bought Gold in Rift. Rift introduced the Tokens before everyone else(they never credit Rift for anything!). I got to see the effect they would have early on. I am terrified of the presence of Tokens, even as an admitted Old school Gold buyer. The Token is Fine at the start because gold in Plentiful. Once everyone runs out of that initial hoard of Gold everything becomes inflated. Why? Because you are going to be EXPECTED to buy Tokens for gold. Tokens are the bigger issue. Gold Buying was never the big issue it was made out to be. Why? Our innate mistrust of Grey Sites will deter most. Similar to how most of us would never try "H". But if your CONVENIENCE store is just selling it I expect the usage to go up. I also bought gold in FFXIV:) Old Habits die hard. I haven't played an MMORPG in 4 years. Anyway, FFXIV is the best because Gold is so Plentiful that I still feel stupid for buying it lol. This is the best way to handle Gold. Just make it plentiful. And Make the Major Stuff get acquired through NPCs(Although, I don't know how you manage "Major Stuff" aka Tier Gear ect. in a sandbox.) P.S. I bought Gold to avoid Dalies but I grinded every dime of my Motorcycle and Mammoth Mounts with Flask sells! I wasn't going to cheat myself out of that experience! Alch and Herb was really good back then haha.
"The passing of time" is my biggest concern, and a factor that the devs didn't took into consideration imo.Tab-target mmorpgs are a dying breed because todays kids grew up in a polished action-fluid gaming world.Even some veterans have shifted to action oriented preferences. So by the time it comes out all that is left are old 35-50 veterans that will give it a go for a while, until they will shift back to the new single player game where they can pause the game and play in short sesions, because of real life responsabilities. Also, the social aspect, the bonding online,I feel like even the most introverted 40-50 years old gamer will not find online the same feeling/experience he had in youth, exactly because of age and mindset shift that comes with age. My only hope is that the devs will make such addictive and interesting systems in game that they will be able to pull kids and teens atention, get past the inferior tab-targeted system and make the mmorpg genre popular again.
8:00 Its not true, that there were no goldsellers in Black Desert Online. The chat was full of them at the beginning, even though there were no Player to Player trading. There were ways to circumvent that, for example by dedicated grinding parties, who pull their customers through high level grinding spots, funneling all the loot into the customer.
There is a point that no one seems to want to address: PVP and AoC's lawlessness. I know, there's a so-called "anti-griefing" or anti-ganking system that comes with consequences (...and they're way too light imho). But consider this: we can all agree that the game is attempting to simulate real life in its economy, shipping goods and services, housing, etc. but set in a fantasy world. However, in real life there are robust laws that govern "society", a police force that ensures criminals are kept in check, and long jail times for those who rebel against the "system" also known as "protections". In contrast, a "free for all" will be the norm in AoC since no laws and thus no "police force" will exist (no, Mercenaries can flip on a dime and instead, steal the very cargo they are protecting, Eve Online is the perfect example). Stay with me... As you said, its a "sand box" RPG allowing the players to make their own personal "unspoken laws", of course always in favor of their personal criminal-like behaviors, taking blatant advantage of one another, scamming, deceiving ...lawless behavior. Ok, I get it. But what's the fun in that? For example, I create a beautiful player house that took me hundreds of subscription hours to create, put coveted items in it, and some lawless, "self-governing" group of hooligans comes along and destroys or steals it all (via node destruction or outright theft)? That's the inherent problem with "ever changing" games like AoC. Nothing is permanent in any way, shape, or form. Again, I get it. But what no one wants to talk about is the eventuality of such games. Why build, invest, or create anything, and I do mean anything, that can be stolen or destroyed? Hard pass. No, it's very obvious AoC is a game to satiate the "wolves" and their constant blood thirsty appetites. So be it. But that game model, as we have already seen in past MMO's, isn't sustainable but for a few months, maybe a year, and then it rapidly dies.

This is bad, but not as bad as bots farming 24/7 and flooding the market. You being mercenaries for real money instead of ingame gold isnt a big deal for the economy of a server.
I'll protect it for $99!
And sell items for direct money instead of gold, In my opinion, it's kind of impossible, there will be a lot of false positives

By the time game releases we’ll all be 60 so it’s not like we’ll have anything better to do any way so I’m not worried lol
Crownfall had a really nice solution to this problem by allowing a guild to basically "win". Which rewarded them and reset the world. Devs had a lot of great ideas but not a lot of great engineering to be able to deliver the game in the form that they wanted to

People who haven't played these types of games always say that but it isn't true. Large guilds/alliances rarely hold their power for too long.

The main reason why I will not play Ashes of Creation, is because it will have a monthly subscription fee.

Also, that kind of monetization gives players an awful feeling of "having to play the game...otherwhise your throwing away your money... monthly". The advantage gaming has in this is, everything is measured and tracked because it is a fenced off environment. They can know your playtime, activities and related income.
Permabans have NEVER stopped gold farming or gold selling. People just make or buy a new account.
Also, the only way to stop gold buying is to target the reason people do it.
very true
Fully agree, Peon. Hope they reiterate their stance on RMT and make sure its a permaban with appeal process.
My biggest concern is by the time it comes out I won’t care anymore.
Any level of enforcement is more than Blizzard is doing.
Biggest concern for me is the combat. Its just so weird to see tab targeting in 2024. Especially when its a pvp focused game.
Yeah, idk how people can play tab targeting games nowadays
I feel like there’s a good chance a rough alpha might bury ashes of creations. It’s really a harsh environment for game devs.
"I hope this new MMO im talking about doesn't go P2W!" "SIGN UP FOR MY RAID SHADOW LEGENDS LINKS GUYS!" The hypocrisy.
This could be done for currency as well.
thing is I’m at an age where i don’t have the time to invest 10+ hours learning a new MMO so when that urge to play an MMO shows up every couple years i’d rather just play WOW….if AOC came out like 10 years ago i’d be hyped af but in 2024 nah….

shittiest overhyped cartoon like, clunky, outdated and trash looking mmo ever.
any mmo is the same: a never ending grind fest hidden behind p2w cashshop for lazy neckbeards.
You know what'd be sick. . . Make a referral type reward system for catching RMTer's. Once the ban comes down, ding your number goes up if you've reported them. The premise being basically to make finding them profitable for legitimate players to get ahead.
My biggest concern is being able to play it before I die.
The game is never coming out and already stressing about potential endgame problems lmao.
That’s how it be when we are mmo starved😅. Unless you like pve mmos then there is nothing to play right now
one thing is going to happen, launch will be a shait show, ppl will complain, lots of ppl will play and leave, others will stay, happens all the time. p2w or not, that's how things works nowadays
10 seconds ago is crazy
If I remember correctly, the creator of Ashes was a huge p2w player in ArcheAge
5:18 That's literally not what that shoplifting thing says, that's just tiltle clickbait plus propaganda. Even in the article on screen you can see it's just it wouldn't be a felony and instead a misdemeanor with the potential of a year in jail.
Carry runs provided by guilds or groups for ingame gold are a good way to hide RMT transactions.
I have been looking up all kinds of videos and content about the game and it just reminds me of a worse looking and more generic New World.
so weird..and they want subscription payment? holy
Yeah. It looked cool 5 years ago. Not so much now.
LMAO I have over 500 hours in NewWorld and I can tell you for 100% fact that even alpha 1 testing was better than newworld

Watch out for that conservative propaganda.
nobody actually gets punished though.
@@JackHugeman Of course they get punished. If there were no consequences why would anybody ever pay? if it sounds too good to be true, it may be.
@@TK-wn3te if it was like 50 bucks i would understand but why set it so high?
Game grafik looks like a game from 2010, its so blank, where are the details and what is that interface? :c
Game's in Alpha, chill
@LynKoyo keep huffing that copium. I want this game to be good but let's be honestly data indicates it won't be
I remember hearing about this game during my freshman year of college. I’ve graduated and this shet still not close to being released 😅
Vanilla WoW took 8 years and it was a completely different landscape for making games in the early 2000's. The amount of systems and the types of things that players expect now are different also. If it takes 10 years to make a great game then it takes 10 years to make.
lol you really went off the rails with the war on drugs. that was stupid af
that line about not punishing people who don't steal over $1000 dollars, no decent-sized municipality in the US criminalizes shoplifting. it's literally a waste of everyone's time to prosecute someone for stealing, when most people do it apparently and the criminals they'd be in with cause tens of thousands or more in real or social damages.
also showing pictures of armed robbery with your "petty theft" is very inaccurate. that's exactly the kind of crime they are prosecuting regardless of how much financial damage it causes, especially NYC where they have zero tolerance for gun crime.
If you dont like pvp and just want to pve this game is not for you
@@Torchlight_Studios If it's not meant for the broad audience, how can it have a broad success?
@@BackPacMan10 If it's not for everyone, how can it have a broad success?

RMT will plague the server for sure, like it did with WoW. I hope they implement an auction system like BDO's. RMT isn’t much of a problem in BDO.
RMT in BDO used to be really really bad. Back then you could gift real money items to people and people would use this as a way to "trade" for a chance at bidding on an item on AH. They since taken out gifting.
Finally, your first concern? Took you a while.
Your mistake is thinking we'll be around when it finally releases hahaha
The thing about New York literally says they get punished in the text. Where did you get that you get no punishment?
one of the reasons RMT is so pop in WoW classic is because you need gold to be sweaty
RMT is not that big of a problem, really. The REAL problem are the bots associated with many RMT sites.
huh?, what do you think bots are doing farming gold to sell it!, RMT is the root cause of problems mate.
@ElSablo159
You got it backwards, my dude.
@@m.a.j.i.c I mean, RMT per se does not harm players or game economy. You can have RMT without bots.
You can never stop alts/gold farmers but you can increase the barrier to entry and therefore reduce the overall number and effect they have
your channel went from deep in depth reviews about said games to half ass reviews with sponsorships
A real life bounty system for turning in buyers could work.
This will be the "Star Citizen" of MMOS.😒
And Make the Major Stuff get acquired through NPCs(Although, I don't know how you manage "Major Stuff" aka Tier Gear ect. in a sandbox.)
Absolutely love all of your comparisons to IRL with video games. MMOs specifically.
" People who do drugs are basically just debuffing themselves"
