This was EXACTLY the information I was looking for about this watch -- how to set up the intervals, what kind of intervals it's capable of (time / distance / etc), what it looks like (and sounds like) on a run. Brilliant! Thank you!!

@@shanebow i''m digging the 6*3 intervals, and it's fantastic to have this on my watch! Do you know if it's possible to change the "STEP DISTANCE" field to Heart Rate for this workout?

this is the best video ever. I have been driving so far to my nearest running track to do intervals. I never knew my watch could do this. I was also worried about how the warm up and cool down would fit on the watch and also how I would know I have come to the end of an interval / cool down / or warm up. Amazing job. Hats off to you. Hats off to Garmin to for having this incredible function. So impressive

Extremely helpful video, thankyou very much! I bought the FR245 a few days ago and needed to set up interval training, following your guidance I did it all, and put my watch safely away until tomorrow morning when I will use it for the first time.......to cut a long story short, I realised I didn't want the warm up bit in the workout so I thought, "must go and delete that bit" - damn good job I did go into the workout details, when I originally set it up, instead of four and a half minutes for the recovery (power walk) and five and a half minutes for each of the runs, I had input it wrong, I had 4 HOURS 30 for the recovery and 5 HOURS 30 for each of the runs!!! I hasten to add, all safely amended bahhahah, it would have been the longest training session in history pmsl

I am a ex level 2 endurance coach and tools like this are useful.
I have the Garmin 235 and only recently set up sessions.
I am now 65 , trying to get back down to 25 min at least for 5k and do find the Garmin is good for hills as ell as flat area's.
I am now up to a VO2 reading of 37.

Great video. I have a 245m and it’s my first garmin. I have started using the garmin coach to train me for a half marathon and it’s brilliant. It incorporates all training types, long runs, intervals and hill training. It really does work. I’m glad I seen this video because once my coaching is done it means I know how to set up my own training sessions with what I have learned. You should do a video on garmin coach 👍🏻

Ref forerunner 45 --- Love your videos and they have been a great help -- however when I run on the Yelling interval training I want to see my pace when I am running fast on the 3 minutes - it only shows 1of 4 laps, my time count down and my distance. I want to see my pace so I am not running too fast or too slow - help

You can press the down button to move to the next data screen which you can set up to have pace on one of the 3 fields. I have garmin 35 & can do this then scroll back to the main screen counting down to start interval again

This is the same interval training i do with my Polar !
    * 3 mn Run
    * 1:30 mn recover (walking or staying up ... depending of feeling)
I repeat this 6 times as well.
But there is a difference after that : i gave me 3 mn extra recovery, and repeat the same interval training another time.
    So in fact i run (3 mn x 6) x 2 = 36 mn

Great work with your videos - I have been learning tons. Still a bit new to Garmin - love it overly much. One part I'm stumped with is this. I have been using the intervals as discussed but don't really like the limited screen data fields that come with it. Do we have an option that allows the Interval type training but with data field options that still maintain the countdown timer/interval number etc information?

How can I add a desired tempo for intervals run? For example I want to run 700m at 06:00 tempo and 300m at 04:30 tempo. Is this possible?

Hi, when you do interval and you pressed accidentally the back button than it goes to cool down. How do you go back to your run?

Thanks. very helpful. Setting a target pace would have been even better. :) Did you try? my experience is then that I have all kind of alerts and without my glasses I don't know where I am at...
