    The issue I find with this is that as you rank up, it gets more difficult to win until ultimately, you end up playing against opponents that win against you 50% of the time. The only way I can see around it is to "Git Gud" enough that you're top ranked Mythic. I can only reach Platinum before I start throwing my gems and money away.
    I really like the practice I get playing drafts on Arena as it allows me to do much better at the LGS, but it looks like I'll have to create a new account for each set so I can play enough to learn the format without breaking the bank. I can't think of any other way around this.
    They really need to up the reward you get as your rank goes up so that you still have a chance of "going infinite". Maybe it takes winning 4 games at bronze to get a reward commensurate with spend. How about 2 games at Platinum or something like that? Maybe even better, they could just reduce the buy-in as you rank up. Don't offer any more packs or anything like that.

    • @gameschooldadMTG

      I just have a second arena account that I occasionally complete dailies on to build up some gold so I can do a few premier drafts of a new set before I put my primary resources at risk. Works out pretty well for me.
      I also only go up to Platinum at the most and then let my rank reset for the next month to carry on from Silver.

      @@gameschooldadMTG not at all worth it, unless wizards adds some sort of bonus to getting the set completed. I have all the cards I want to play with in constructed right now which is a nice change of pace vs previous sets. Plus I have gotten a few mythics from the daily wins and the mid week format play that I think I’ll continue to close the gap without buying packs. We’ll see how things change when ONE launches but like you said, a lot of the mythics aren’t staples so now it’s down to personal preference and objectives.

    I’ll be drafting the new set a lot this season. I’ve always enjoyed draft but didn’t do it too much during Brothers War due to just having gotten started back on Christmas Day. This time I’m ready to start that right out of the gate and hopefully I can figure out the formate quick enough to turn the gold I’ve been hoarding up into gems to keep playing over and over. Until I see what the Standard Meta will look like I’m not really interested in playing it as I’m not the best at brewing decks. Even when I played competitively we always had one guy on the team who was our deck builder and the rest of us either helped tweak the deck or figure out the correct side boarding strategies. Draft can be daunting if you don’t know how to read what is being passed to you but once you figure out what is open it can be much easier to draft a deck you feel confident in. Thanks for all the great content you have been putting out.

    I've played arena is Hearthstone a lot when it was still a new game and crushed it, was able to build a very big collection of cards by being pretty much f2p. However, as more and more extensions emerged that played the draft for you (ranking cards etc) I stopped playing it as I felt I was playing against these programs not players. Although I could still be infinite since I had the experience to still draft good decks, I felt kinda cheated. Now as a pretty new MTG player (played for a month a year ago getting to diamond with my own deck, but that's it) I'm really curious but afraid to start playing drafts because I feel like I'll get crushed by people who draft very good decks consistently using 3rd party software. Are my fears unfounded? Should I be preparing extensively by reading up on drafts/meta before trying? I'm not going to pay money to enter these so I'll have to scavange 10k gold first, which will take a week or so, so I don't want to throw away that gold. Thanks.

    I have pretty much the opposite in terms of set completion as you. I took a break after Throne of Eldraine but have almost complete rares for every previous set that had a quickdraft when the game released. They "nerfed" the rare passes on AI drafts, it used to be that there was no premiere draft (only quick draft) and you could easily get 11+ rares/mythics per AI draft. I stopped playing when they "nerfed" the AI draft because I went from getting 10+ rares per draft on average to 3-4 rares.

    I could be wrong but I think there is a slight mistake with the way you calculate win rates. For example at 5:35 you say we need "5 and a half wins which is about 65% wr". I think you might be including the third loss within the win rate which is incorrect. For example to REACH 5 wins you need a win rate of 5 wins to 2 losses to at the very least, which would be about a 70% win rate.

    • @gameschooldadMTG
      @gameschooldadMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. It entirely depends on how you want to look at it. By that logic, to get to 1 win and 0 losses, you need a 100% win rate, which is technically true, but it's not as relevant because it's not taking into account all the results in the event. So although your win rate at 5-2 would be about 71%, your overall win rate by the end of the event at 5-3 would still be 62.5% overall.

    • @gameschooldadMTG

    This makes no sense about gold being a limited resource. Gold is all you get since they don't give out gems for free. So it seems a better idea to use your gold first. With gems only used when there's not enough gold.

    • @gameschooldadMTG
      @gameschooldadMTG  ปีที่แล้ว

      The reasoning behind that is that you are only able to get a limited amount of gold per day, usually around 1,000 for most people, but could be up to 1,500. If you're winning more draft games, then there's actually no limit to the amount of gems you are able to earn, and nothing much worth spending them on once you've already got the mastery pass. You could save up gems if you want, but I don't know what you would be saving them for. If you're buying packs, then you would get more by spending gold on your packs and gems on draft events.

It's better to create a decent constructed deck first with gold and wildcards and then try to win constructed events get to 3400 gems (or 2200 if you have have the previous pass) , buy a mastery pass then the rest of your gold goes to buying packs and getting gold packs.

    Getting infinite is not possible for the majority of players. Only very good players manage a constant win rate of over 60%. This means that if you want to play for free, most players have to farm gold in the constructed area first in order to participate in limited events. Which is not too difficult. Even if you have more losses than wins, 4 wins a day are done quickly (for guaranteed 550 Gold + Daily Quests).

    I recognize this is a year ago. However, The issue I have with videos like this. If someone is unaware of the concept of going infinite okay this helps know which formats will help me. But How do I get infinite cards then. You say IF your drafting win rate is good. IF you continue get wins. So then if how you go infinite is determined by how you build drafts. Then it seems THAT should be the video no? How to go infinite is to be better at draft. Well to be better at draft wouldn't you supply tips that way?

This game have decks with infinite braindead loops (technically that would be called exploit, but it kind of isn't) almost no chances to win against those, so if anything can be called infinite there, its lame loop decks being used . Most of participants are using those decs. Immersion braking and extremely lame. By the way, if you are new to game, don't pay a dime, possible to build fair deck to have fun, and with just a bit of time possible to add to that deck, to have some nice RP card time. @@gameschooldadMTG Well, I was hoping to learn something new. I learned from other infinite vids to draft and play only the first four games. That way you’re paid to draft. I learned myself that my win rate is higher end of month when I’m silver or lower. I was hoping for some angle like that. Not just rereading me the pages from each arena screen. Teach me something I’m less likely to know - teaching me what arena already says will be new for only the people who don’t read instructions.

    • @gameschooldadMTG
      @gameschooldadMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing by 'first four games' you mean not to play a draft game if you've already got 4 wins or completed your daily gold quests for the day, (because I can't imagine what else that could refer to), then I don't see any particular value in that. Daily quests won't always align with the draft deck that you're using anyway, and the daily wins you can get with any other play mode if you want to, it's not like you're limited to a certain number of games per day, so there's nothing wasted by playing an extra draft game without the daily gold rewards.
      Whether you have a slightly higher win rate at different times of the month or at different ranks is an interesting idea.

If you wait til the end of a rank then the ‘good’ bronze players have all graduated and the wins are just a little easier. I guess the 4 wins per day strategy is trying to exploit this and the daily wins too.
