Before, during the Sukothai Kingdom Thai arts were heavily influenced by Mon art (the Mon where the people who were there before Thais migrated and absorbed them into Thai identity). Sukothai art was also influenced by Khmer art since at that time the Mon-Thais of Sukothai had not long declared independence from the Khmer Empire. Sukothai was the first Thai kingdom to declare independence, but it would later be conquered by Ayutthaya, another Thai kingdom that also declared independence from the Khmer Empire. Many aspects of Thai culture as we know it was developed during the Ayutthaya period, an age of Thai cultural renaissance.
What people outside the region don't realize is that the Khmer Empire was ruled by a different ethnic group than the majority of the population who were effectively their slaves. This ruling class and royal house of the Khmer Empire were known as the Khom by the Thais and were blood relatives of Mon-Thai rulers through marriages and they formed alliances with the Mon-Thai Kingdoms. Ethnic Khmers remained largely in the area that is now Cambodia while more than half the "Empire" were Mon-Thai Kingdoms allied to the Khom rulers. The Khmer were the slave/serf class serving the Khom within Cambodia.
Jayavarman IX, last of the Khom Kings was assassinated by Trasak Paem, a Khmer gardener who took the throne and became the first Khmer King. Details on the death of Jayavarman IV is disputed. Thais would say he was assassinated in a Khmer slave rebellion. While Cambodian official history claims it was an accident and that Trasak Paem had some mystical divine destiny to become king... This was the event that caused the Mon-Thais to declared independence and break off from the Empire.
After the death of Jayavarman IX many Khom nobles fled to Ayutthaya. The Mon-Thai Kingdoms didn't recognize Trasak Paem's new dynasty as legitimate rulers. The Thai Kingdom of Ayutthaya rose as the new regional power and sacked Angkor in 1431 and eventually subordinated the Cambodian kings, annexing large areas of Cambodia. The Khmer would rebel and break free from Thai rule at different periods, but Siam, the successor Thai kingdom to the old Ayutthaya Kingdom would totally completely conquer Cambodia in 1794 and it remain a vassel state under Thai rule until 1863 when it became a French protectorate.
When the French came they were largely unaware of the Khom and ascribed the ancient Empire incorrectly to the Khmer, that's why Angkor Wat has been attributed to the Khmer to this day when in fact it was the Khom who ordered it built and ruled there. The Khmer were just the labour class and the arts and fashions of Angkor Wat actually belong to the Khom, the Khmer were usurpers who had little culture of their own, being originally jungle tribes enslaved by the Khom.

Thailand has beautiful traditions. Dressing in national costumes from past to present has been passed down for hundreds of years. It has been updated with every era to keep it up to date. Because of Thai culture, dress, Thai food that is famous all over the world and many other things, Thai boxing, Khon performances, celebrities, Cambodia wants to attract tourists from Thailand so it must be claimed. Because it is a simple job that can be done without investing a lot of money and wasting time on design and development.

The national costume of Cambodia is called "Sampod" and not "Sabai". The reason why the former Cambodians had to wear the Sabai is because Cambodia was under the jurisdiction of Thailand for more than four hundred years. Thailand therefore forced Cambodians to wear sabai in order to bring royal tributes such as money trees, gold trees, and other valuables to present to the Thai king in the palace. And if a Cambodian wants to wear a Thai sabai in various important ceremonies, Cambodia must send a letter requesting permission to wear a sabai from Thailand before they can wear a sabai. But after Cambodia fell under the power of France, the Cambodian king and royal family no longer wore sabai. Later, Cambodia had to face many wars which resulted in the death of many talented people. And Cambodian people who survived the war do not have the potential to develop their country, culture, and clothing. Meanwhile, the Thai sabai dress has always been developed to be beautiful and diverse until the Thai sabai dress has become known and loved by people around the world. Cambodia wants their country to be liked by people around the world just like Thailand. Cambodia therefore chose to take the Thai sabai and pretend to be its own national costume. and accused Thailand of being a thief.

💥👉In past = Cambodia colonized by Thailand (Siam) more than 400 years.
💥(French separated Cambodia from Thailand on 11 August 1863.)
💥👉At present = Cambodia become a colony of China.
😓The education is particularly important for Cambodian. (The Right Side of History)

Siam was never colonized by anyone. But the Khmers had been a colony of Siam for more than 400 years, and the rulers had to spread their government and culture to the colonies under Siam rule. Cambodians have come to learn how to dress in famous Thai dramas. Over the past five years, Khmers have come back to claim it as their own traditional costume. And from the results of genetic research, Khmers have different DNA from Thai/Laotian/Vietnamese/Burmese people. Khmers are also recorded as slave labor captured from the Indonesian island of Java.

The bad thing about the Khmer people right now is that they claim everything they never had. The Thai dress has evidence for more than 400 years (the sash is not the Khmer dress) because the Khmers are still the kingdom of Siam (nowadays). Ban is Thai), but the Khmers only claim the stone walls of Angkor Wat (at that time cloth could not be woven). Khmer culture has long died. Cambodians now play it easily. There is nothing of their own. Just Cambodians come and say that it is original. This is not even talking about The Khom Empire was not Khmer. Today, people all over the world are deceived into the existence of the Khmer Empire. But actually it was the Khom Empire.

Yes, Cambodian should learn history from outside.
Everything that Cambodian know comes from a dictator who has been in power for more than 40 years (and is now inherited by his son) creating a fake history to make Cambodian proud in order to cover up the administration of the country. Failed.
Yes, Cambodian should really learn about history from outside.😁😂

@@NorakRottanak Thailand is now registered as a Sri Muang city with UNESCO. The history of the Thai nation has changed. This excavation found 10 years.ago and studied until getting to know the origins of the Thai people And that culture has been passed down for a long time. But when someone accused you of being a thief, how would you feel? Would you be willing to accept the accusation even though you were not at fault? They accuse us of stealing culture that the Khmers didn't create. It seems very funny. Thailand will always have modern teaching. When new evidence is found and Proven to be true. Thailand will change that lesson immediately. But some neighboring countries that have made accusations against Thailand still use very old lessons and lessons that are a form of communist rule. 😊

If you study history going back a hundred years, you will find the answer:
Cambodia is a province of Thailand. Before Thailand lost its territory to France Everything in Cambodia comes from Thailand, not Thailand comes from Cambodia. As those people claimed.!!!
