I just need a clarification because I am lost so the help would be nice.
I believe there are 4 m.2 slots on the board....maybe 2...I don't remember, but it's in this video. As far as k and kf, I usually buy just the k. They do perform marginally better. @norbertoroman9333 and you've tried the second pci slot? It definitely sounds strange and I wish I could help from where I sit but would need all the hardware in front of me to give a solid diagnosis.
On paper it will handle 128gb of ram but many people report issues getting the advertised speeds and timings after enabling the xmp profile. The memory controller on the cpu could play a factor but a future BIOS update could help with memory compatibility at that total size.
I haven't heard of anyone having this issue on the extreme board. My personal thoughts are, anytime you fill up all 4 dimm slots you run the risk of stability issues and always because of the motherboard. As not all CPUs are created equal, some memory controllers just may not like the voltages and frequencies while running "quad channel"....so some tweaking may be required. I have gotten lucky in the past, I also primarily use g.skill ram which I believe is the better of choices available.
Not that I'm aware of, when I go that size I usually run a 32x2 configuration....as much as I like seeing all slots filled up. If all slots are filled up, I highly recommend them being the same lot number. Basically, buy them in a set of 4 and don't mix 2 different sets of ram.

Yes... I do agree with most of the video, but the part of "z790 Apex" better than Hero? That in my case made me doubt of your expertise in this subject. Apex is less usable in normal conditions today than Hero is. Then you go straight to "Overclocking memory" like if this is the "normal" daily average thing ppl need. The last thing you tweak to overclock your machine is the RAM, because is the less noticeable result. Apex has Thunderbolt 4? no, Hero has.... Apex ready for PCIe 5.0 ? not for expansion only a graphic card. Less storage Less of all, Not wonder why in the world APEX z790 is disregarded and always in stock and sometimes even cheaper cuz nobody wants it. @2522james do your research on higher end gaming boards, there are many benefits, higher quality capacitors, vrm chips, etc. I usually see better benchmark results on higher end boards as well. With that said, I'm not here trying to convince anyone high end boards are a smart choice. Most of the time, it's not worth the money for an average user. For what it's worth, I think higher end boards are worth the money.
Ok will do, i am thinking about this, iam just referring to the cooler? Is it that expensive?
@2522james oh, lol, my bad...I thought I was replying to a different comment. This one is more expensive bc it's a 420mm and the lcd on the water block.
The one thing that disappointed me is a 2.5 gigabit ethernet... like what the hell, you could put a 5 gigabit one for that price, it's a high-end motherboard
I agree and this board isn't the only high end one that got cheated out of a 10 gigabit port. It will soon be practical to have in most areas.
does it have Bluetooth? It doesnt work for me even tho i updated it
Never had an issue with Bluetooth....perhaps it's the device and not the board? Otherwise I would RMA the board if it's important to you.
I just built my PC (i9 13900k, RTX 3080, 64gb ram ddr5 6400, MB Asus Rog Maximus z790 hero) everything turns on fine and it recognizes my gpu but it's as if it didn't work, I already tried another and it's the same, does anyone know
What q-code is it showing?
@@bricktronics That's the thing, it doesn't give me any q-code, it works "perfectly", even when I go to device manager it appears there, but when I go to put the GPU to be my video channel it tells me that there is none there connected.🤡 Delete and download the drivers, and in the control panel and Nvidia recognizes it but the options are limited because it is as if it is not connected, and the GPU turns on too, but the fans stay off. Thank you very much for answering me, greetings! ❤️
@norbertoroman9333 have you tried a different GPU and which one do you have?
@@bricktronics yes, I have an RTX 3080 evga XC3 Ultra, and I tried with a GTX 1080, it's not much but it was the only one I had on hand, and it was the same situation
@norbertoroman9333 and you've tried the second pci slot? It definitely sounds strange and I wish I could help from where I sit but would need all the hardware in front of me to give a solid diagnosis.
will the Maximous hero be able to handle 128 gb of ram?
On paper it will handle 128gb of ram but many people report issues getting the advertised speeds and timings after enabling the xmp profile. The memory controller on the cpu could play a factor but a future BIOS update could help with memory compatibility at that total size.
@@bricktronics is that the same thing with the maximous extreme?
I haven't heard of anyone having this issue on the extreme board. My personal thoughts are, anytime you fill up all 4 dimm slots you run the risk of stability issues and always because of the motherboard. As not all CPUs are created equal, some memory controllers just may not like the voltages and frequencies while running
"quad channel"....so some tweaking may be required. I have gotten lucky in the past, I also primarily use g.skill ram which I believe is the better of choices available.
@@bricktronics would 64 gb have problems too?
Not that I'm aware of, when I go that size I usually run a 32x2 configuration....as much as I like seeing all slots filled up. If all slots are filled up, I highly recommend them being the same lot number. Basically, buy them in a set of 4 and don't mix 2 different sets of ram.
My Bluetooth signal is weak with this board I tried everything can anyone help?
How far away is your wifi antenna from the source?
@@bricktronics less than 2 feet. I’m trying to connect an Xbox controller. It barely connects when it’s directly touching the antenna.
Reinstalled drivers switch from windows 11 to 10, updated bios and still nothing.
@@therandomgamer8107 hmmm....have you tried a different bluetooth device?
Also have you hooked the controller up via usb with it on then disconnect?
@@bricktronics it’s just the Bluetooth
@@therandomgamer8107 have you tried other bluetooth devices? I ask because I have had issues with two different xbox controllers.
Fantastic
I bought nearly all the same components!
Im using 4 fans on a Noctua HD 15

😊. CPU cooling Brillant results
Very nice choice on the CPU cooler. I have been able to cool the same processor on a 240mm AIO sufficiently as well. It is a power hungry processor but some good thermal paste and a CPU frame helps a lot!
hi I'm trying to build a pc and I want to get the Asus Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard and I'm using a website to check compatibility and it says that i9-14900KS is not compatible with the motherboard can you confirm this for me pls
Are you using Asus website?
Yeah is not about hating, at least be thankful ( That you are a new guy on youtube and when you guys get a little bit of fame you won't care anymore) that I went through the whole 10 min video, but after the APEX thing, is hard for me to subscribe, maybe you gonna lie to me again thinking that you know more.
Hey maybe I'm wrong and you are one of the few people in comparison with thousand that found APEX is better than a HERO for anything, And yes I also notice how "vague" your statement is regarding to the comparison so you can excuse yourself if you mess up with: "Well In certain determinate areas of specific purposes the Apex would be better than HERO"
Don't be vague on a "technical review" makes you look really bad. But hey, there are all kind of followers I bet you will find the right niche.
Hey bud, I appreciate the feedback for real and thanks for watching the video. Totally understand where you would disagree about the Apex, how I should have worded it was "if you care to do extreme ram overclocking the Apex board is a better option."
As for ram overclocking, I might be out of touch here a little but I have personally seen very noticeable improvements in gaming and day to day tasks after tweaking.
Thanks again for your feedback, yeah I'm pretty new at making content but I'll do some better research and work on better scripting.
@@bricktronics Just with the answer you deserve a subscribe, Lets hope you make it better and improve this certain things, at the end my critic was for your Success ... I like watching content of people that do review in technical and other aspects, but I always reject those who impose the "I believe" system without proof.
Yes I agree with you with OVclk ram, but is not what normal ppl do, they do activate XMP and that's it, lets not call overclocking to that. Marginal with extreme overclocking are 3 or 4 maybe 5 fps depends of the game.
and if is XMP 2.0 marginal 2 fps.
Either way, good job. I enjoyed the video if not I wouldn't watch the whole 10 min. And now Ill subscribe because you have a nice personality.
@@Sc0rphionx I appreciate it and the criticism is more valuable to me than someone just saying, "nice video". I hear you on the "I believe" system and I'll keep that in mind for future content. Thanks again, future content on this channel will aim more towards some builds in crazy pc cases, that's more of where my passion is.
@@Sc0rphionx the most I've gained was 11 fps in fh5 with just memory overclocking but it was real expensive memory, a lot of blue screens, and too much time invested. It was fun but faster and easier to undervolt/overclock my gpu
Nope 13 and 14 gen are the same
We know this now....at the time of recording this, lga 1851 was the rumor and remained that way for some time.
And 8 months later this video was wrong on the 14th gen socket.
8 months later and the 14th gen is trash. I haven't seen Intel go more than two generations on the same socket.
