      Hey Jeff - quick question.
Your door looks to be about 2"+ in size. The specs for the hardware say they'll fit a 1.37"-1.57" door.
How did you make this work, with the given hardware??

I stopped watching Bob when he got so condensating, talking snooty to his audience.🧐 I don't think I will ever see Jeff do that, he's way to authentic to screw with us. I love the fact that there is always something throwing a curve ball at him, and he just analyzes, adapts and overcomes the obstacles. Laughing at the absurdity of all of it. Gotta love our modern supply chain. 😂 Cheers to you Jeff! Thanks for making me realize that we can do this!

You know Jeff, sometimes watching someone else deal with the frustrations of installing stuff is almost as tiring as doing it myself! It's amazing the crap we put up with to save a buck. I'm in my mid 50's now and still don't know how to figure out how to pick what is the best balance of price versus ease of installation for this or that product beyond trial and error. I am grateful to be able to watch you struggle with crap as much as we do!

a router for cutting out doors and windows works great. I worked at Atco structures and built portable office buildings for the oil field, and we'd cut after we hung using routers with special bits, clean smooth cut each time. Great job

Mechanical engineer here. The bar clamping system is legit. Having two wall mount supports on either side of the bar clamp means that the clamp sees no load from the door. The bar clamp is just holding the two segments together.
The clamp does have to be tightened well because it does see a load inline with the bar from the friction of sliding the door. That linear force tends to spread the two bar segments apart
    Hope this makes sense.✌

Hey Jeff, I just want to say thanks for all of your work, you have definitely reinforced this DIY'ers confidence levels.😅 So I am currently redoing my bathroom and have gotten my drywall up. I am wanting to get your opinion on whether or not to waterproof first, or tape and fill my coats of mud first?!...🤔😵‍💫😅 I've never done this before, and a lot of my personal setback has been overthinking everything. I went with the green board, and instead of just using the caulking method you did, I am wanting to actually tape to ensure everything is a smooth finish before I start tiling.

So Im coming from a relatively old video but I have a question. You have stated that one should never buy a small tub of Mud and one should always mix their own compound if needed. Why is that? I dont have a lot of need for fixing a small hole or dent but generally I will have a use for a little every 3-5 years. Is the small tubs a different mixture, or unreliable recipe? I generally dont use much and cant justify getting a big bag that I dont really have the space for unless there are properties in the powder that you dont get from the small tubs. Thanks

You can't get 34". Trust me, I've tried. Rhona repeats this great sale every year with black MCM 3-light steel doors. In a town full of mid-century brick houses they only do 32 and 36. I've asked and they say it would be "custom" with a charge and I'd have to go straight to Masonite and not get the special. Seems odd, since the larger door is offered for that price (S Ontario). Old-fashioned customer service would suggest they suggest to Masonite to send 34s as well.

    • @evictioncarpentry2628

      Go to Toker Collins.
Got them to make me up a 34" Craftsmans 6 Lite. Fiberglass door and Jamb with threshold and brick mould, and a 7 1/4 inch Jamb width. 700 bucks CAD taxes in. It was ready in under a week. A standard piece of crap dented and scratched Masonite from HD or Lowes is 400-450. For a wood Jamb and steel door.
If you know someone with an account it'll be even cheaper. That was just the walk in price.
