The mistake that Apple made with the touch bar was making it replace the top row function keys instead of having it as an addition above it. it was enough of an annoyance for people that they hated the touch bar. there's enough space that Apple could have had both and made it work.
You are completely right, there is room about the function keys for a Touch Bar. I really liked that Touch Bar a lot, its a shame they got rid of it...
I use the Touch Bar everyday since 2016 love that it completes words when I type just like on the iPhone. I’ve tried to upgrade to the m3 and m2 and went straight back to my 2016 mbp. It still works fine so why spend the money.

actually did that, but in 2023. i paid just 1500€ for the 16 inch with 1 tb ssd. the guy who sold it, priced it that cheap cuz it got a scratch on the screen. but that thing is sooooo tiny. its crazy

💯! I got mine new in 2021 (16" M1 Pro base) and it's still rip-roaring good! Ya, I have a Windows laptop, mostly for gaming (Legion Slim 7i), but the MacBook is simply special, even if it can't do everything.

At this point, no. HDMI has been useful, SD Card reader has been great. The only other complaint is that I can't use windows on it, but I just remote into my desktop for that, which allows me to use the graphics processing power of my 3070, as opposed to just letting it sit there collecting dust.

I like how thin your MacBook Air is. Part of me wonders what the overhead of power on my MacBook Pro is..... Do I require all of this extra stuff, or could I get by with a MacBook Air. That thing is DUMB thin and I love it
I had a 1TB 16gb M1 Air and was editing high end stuff for Sennheiser. A handful of exports didn't render properly so I ended up moving to a base Mac Studio and that was the right decision for me. I think the M1 Pro would have done the job as well because I was occasionally editing 8K stuff on the air and it was certainly capable.@@techno_eclipse
The new M series of chips, continue to blow my mind with how capable they are. I am looking forward to testing out a Mac Studio sometime in the future (although I am afraid I won't be "testing out" so much as buy and keeping haha)
This laptop is not that thicker than the older models. Infact, they are nearly identical in thickness. The tapper with the older modelsake then look like they are thinner, but they aren't.
i am same as you i don't what is the spec for yours but i got 16 m1pro 16gb 1tb with warranty for 10month 1650cad. the dude bought it but he didn't like it. I absolutely love it since i came from m1 13 mbp. final cut pro is better than premier pro in m series. if you need to use windows you could use parallel. there is some games supported.
With now expensive parts and repairs, apple twisted 2nd hand marketplace to the point that it is a gamble to get a mac from there without applecare. In the end apple still gets a piece of the pie.
@@techno_eclipse I Just got mine on eBay (16GB/1TB) on eBay from a seller that get's the trade-ins from apple and it is just like new, absolutely perfect. It even had a year left of Applecare+. By far the best laptop I have ever owned.

In response to your touch bar, I bought a 2018 pro couple months ago, I figured it benchmarked similar to my gaming PC so couldn't be slow, and to be fair it's fast for day to day stuff but the touch bar I love. Even skipping unskippable TH-cam ads. However I do question if it's necessarily quicker for brightness and volume, despite it being cooler. However in apps like excel and calculator, it's unquestionably better with touch bar
I think it is certainly slower to adjust brightness, but I think it's the reason Apple has the same design when adjusting the brightness and volume on an iPhone, a better user experience. I do miss the Touch Bar, but it is one of those things that I was always a little afraid of it breaking and then having to replace it.....
I dunno.......I think my AMD Ryzen 7 equipped Lenovo ThinkPad?...(w/32GB of RAM, and a 4TB SSD) kinda blows your Macbook out of the water. But of course I DON'T do content creation...nope...i do SQL data crunching.....C++ / HTML / Python coding and programming.....but I still think I might be able to hang.....or better yet...maybe try bench-marking stuff OTHER than video renders and graphics?.....or does that kind of "work" not qualify?.....oh well...I guess to each their own!

Not on battery. X86 is only fast on mains power, they collapse on battery. And how long can you run it on full power on battery, 20 minutes? I know, I run both. X86 is ancient tech and should be ditched asap.

All the specs are useless the moment you try to do app development and need to put your app on iOS appstore. Some choices are not about bigger numbers but specific usecases.

I have this computer and even in 2024, it's fantastic. Crisp, clear screen, awesome keyboard, lightning fast CPU and long battery life. Love it!!

I enjoy my M1 14“ MBP. What I don‘t like is its body design. It doesn‘t look neither fells like an apple laptop, as opposed to a MBA M2.
Completely agree. It obviously has the all metal frame, but the sleekness of the MBA M2 that my wife has feels like an apple laptop.
