Just stumbled across your post. Indonesia has been my home since 1993. I lived in Yogyakarta until 2000 and then moved to Jakarta after the dangerous times of Suharto's downfall. This is a truly amazing place. Full of contradictions and vastly different to the West. I fluently speak Indonesian and basically understand the Javanese language. I'm pleased to see you are taking the time to learn a bit about my adopted homeland and I trust one day you will make it here. Whilst Bali is lovely it is highly adapted to a western way of life. If you want a real challenge, go to other parts of the country. A majority of Indonesians are Muslim so its best to learn culturally accepted norms to fit in. Jakarta is huge because the urban area actually extends into western Java. There are easily 30 million people in the greater Jakarta area. I've been to all other countries in Asian and I can state that Jakarta is the most complex city in Asia. Could you imagine, when I moved here there wasn't anything like a smartphone, google maps or Google translate. Buses only had numbers on it and often no destination posted. It was a real challenge to live like a local. I've also been to Manhattan New York. And again I can say that New York is easy-peasy compared to Jakarta. Only Jakarta is sinking, due to people using the water table supply. We are on the north of the island and the plates that cause most earthquakes is in the south. Not saying we never experience earthquakes but Jakarta has been generally spared any real damage. I love Indonesia and I love the challenge it continues to teach me every day.
Ada Indonesia cuyyyy🎉🎉🎉🎉

Please reaction wonderfull Indonesia the emerald of the equator. 🙏👍
we Indonesian born to be bilingual we speak our own native ethnic language and then are exposed to the Indonesian as a national language. I am a sundanese from the west area of Java island can't understand what my coworkers said from Bali island since he speaks his own Balinese language so we used Indonesian to speak to each other and imagine 700 languages that exist here, is not just dialect but completely different languages with their own unique different culture from each other and that's how divers Indonesia is.
Man you guys are so respectful!! I hope we can meet in Bali, i'm an expat in there
That's just history, in fact the people of our country Indonesia have always welcomed outsiders
8:16 Java has a population of 156 million, larger than Russia's 144 million. And Java Has the same size as England .And 40 volcanoes.
9:42 Jakarta metropolitan is second in the world after Tokyo metropolitan .
Jakarta metropolitan area (Jabodetabek) has a population of 34 million. And has an area equivalent to the counties Lincolnshire
In Indonesia I do speak Javanese, Balinese, Sundanese, padangnese ( west Sumatra). And it's common here people speak more than one language ..our country is like "polyglot" country 😊

Please, Reaction to provinces of indonesia explained by Geography Now! . Thanks! .
average Indonesian can speak 2 language, 1 is their mother language, 1 is Indonesia language.. and is not just dialect, it's pure deferent language..
In average Indonesian speak 2 language, and many are 3 language. And if you think it just dialect you will be totally wrong, because it might sound similar but the meaning is completely different depending on the language😅 so yeah, if you want to learn indigenous languages, good luck because we have more than 300 of them😅
In fact, the area of the Republic of Indonesia is equivalent to the European continent, the area is from Washington to London, but maps always show that countries to the south of the equator will be made smaller in scale, while to the north of the equator, even though the land is small, it will look big and expansive on the map.
