Amazing hands! Weight separation so clear and balanced. Mind and body relaxed. Even though I know nothing about the Wu style, I can see this is wonderful Tai Chi, an exceptionally fine and beautiful demonstration of an internal art.
one thing to look at with the Wu Tai Chi style is the forward lean into plow oxen. Shanghai Wu Style very much has a slight lean that way the back leg lines up with the spine in the pushes. A very distinct flavor vs what you see in Chen Style and Yang Style. This guy is really amazing too. Way above my level right now as I am learning the small slow set taught before this form. This is also called 108 postures I believe.
Give him a beard and that guy could be Wu Chien Chuan. His postures are pretty much the same. Never seen anything like it. Beautiful, strong and accurate!
Mr. Li's sifu is Ma Hoi long from Shanghai. GM Ma is the grandson of Wu Chien Chuen. Ma should be the last in the world whom were taught personally by Wu Chien Chuen.
I practice yang style and find it so interesting to see how the styles are the same under the hood so to speak. I'm convinced Wu Style is the original or old yang style. Great performance by this master.
@@SteveMe21685 I guess that Josh would mean the form and the content, not the lineage. In fact, Wushi xiaojia and Yang Shaohou xiaojia look pretty same.
The similarity between Northern Wu and Yang is because Yang Ban Hou, a nephew, taught his version of Yang to Wu, and the guards. It is just another version of the Yang family's tradition. If "just" is the proper word. Yang Ban Hou's version was more explicitly martial and also includes chin na, (a Police Come-along) which you would never use in a tui sho or other peaceful contest. FWIW I am in the direct lineage of Beijing Northern Wu, at the 4th level, 2 generations, inclusive, after Wang Peishan.
+Shane Anderson Mr. Li learned his Wu style tai chi from the eldest son of GM Ma Yueh Liang. He did not have any connection to GM Ma, since GM Ma passed away in 1998.
Wu Chien-chuan's original form of the Wu-style 108 Movements would be undilutedly preserved by his offsprings like Wu Kung-yi and Wu Ying-hua, probably more so than by his disciples like Ma Yueh-liang in Shanghai and Cheng Wing-kwong in Hong Kong. Master Li Hai-bo's demo exhibits some characteristic differences from Grandmaster Wu Ying-hua's demo. These differences are not due to their age or body size, but are intrinsic to the forms and intended by the two practitioners. Essentially, the former is more uptight and powerful and the latter is more relaxed and agile. Wu-style is often preferred across the world for its centredness, softness, agility, etc. For the same reason, I prefer Madam Wu's rendition of the classical Wu-style 108 movements: GM Wu Ying-hua th-cam.com/video/1IDZO0Ey4s0/w-d-xo.html
Wu style is a great style to learn. Yang style is also very accessible if you can find a good teacher. I think it's easier to find quality wu style tbh.
The really impressive performance of Wu shi taiji. The only issue is confusing - in Wu Jianquan style all practitioners not just incline the body forward (like in many other branches deriving from Yangshi), but they do it the way looking like ignorance of the classic rules, with moving the head far forward. For example, at 15:07 if a vertical line is drawn from baihui dawn to the floor, the line (and baihui) is before the knee and far before the toe. I understand that many masters of Wu style got real skills, but this incline looks so unbalanced and breaking classic principles.
vielen Dank
Wonderful to see Master Li Hai Bo performance. This is best I have seen!

Very impressive. Seeing performance of a master of this level is rare, thanks for sharing!

Josh Pickles you’re convinced Wu is the original...why? I mean lineage isn’t hard to find

Great! All the angles are like Wu Jianquan's.
此挙练的內外兼修!👌
Wonderful!
Very nice form, did your teachers have any connection to Ma Yueh Liang when he was alive? Kind regards from New Zealand.

Ma Yueh-liang was his No: 1 disciple and his daughter's (Wu Ying-hua) husband. I think you'll find he knew his father-in-law's form rather well.

I do Chen Style, so I don't know much about Wu.
This is Southern Wu, right?
What are some of the differences with Northern Wu?
