  • Fitting your hands together, playing both hands at the same time can be frustrating. But if you get the practice method right, it makes it feel much easier, works much more effectively and you can likely play much better than you thought! Here's 4 steps to work on for any beginner, the first 3 are some groundwork you may need to lay first, then step 4 is the really important part in getting your hands flowing together.

Thanks pianofs, this confirms my own initial suspicions about playing both hands. You've summarized it very well, and gives me confidence to use your approach!

Hey! With this tutorial I was able to learn myself this simple blues shuffle! Two hands! And I am total beginner, with absolutely no music education, with no teacher, and I am 49! Thank you for this valuable lesson. It is really great.

Great video!! Love seeing other teachers on TH-cam. This is something that you forget how hard it is to do until you try and show someone else. You broke it down great!

When i was practicing G majog both hand: When i had to switch the right hand thumb for the first time, i was thinking of my right hand, but looking on my left, where i had to "switch" next. So thinking of the next/immediate action, but looking for the following one. Then thinking of the second switch before/while doingit. but again looking for next one and so on. I guess you mean that with "thinking ahead". this is how it worsk for me in my brain.

I may be missing something but learning completely from most of your videos. How do I actually play a song? I have the hand technique and some theory down but how do I actually start?

Great video. I am very rusty with the G minor counterpart if you can organise a tutorial that would be tremendously helpful. Many thanks

As always, this was a great video, mate. Now, when we talk about songs you are going to teach us the minuet should be one of them. :)

When you first attempt HT, you may doubt you actually can. Once you accomplish it for the first time, you know with certainty you can. Proceed slowly, repeat and polish the synchrony. What will help you immensely is to adopt a vertical perspective when you begin playing HT. Up to now, you played along with each hand sounding notes in its separate horizontal sequence. Now, each hand will be moving to coordinate a vertical result in which, moment by moment, involves repeated instances of notes played by each hand at the same time. As you bring each hand sequence together, watch how each beat now sounds a rest, note in one hand, notes in both hands, and follow the HT moment by moment from left to right focusing on each beat a a slice of vertical time. Move slowly, in vertical perspective and the HT is unlocked for you.
