My Mom got killed in a car accident on May 12, 2019 (Mothers Day). When I got the call this song was playing on my friends fone. How can that be? This is now my moms song. Thank You, Jewel.

one of my favorite songs by Jewel. It was sung at my cousins funeral 16 years ago....who left behind 2 little children, and then my niece who passed 3years ago leaving 2 little ones behind as well. But I truly believe that each of them are angels standing by for there children, watching over and protecting them. Love and miss both of them everyday. They both will always and forever be Angels standing by

It’s weird all these comments relating this song to death. I used to sing this to my newborn (back in the 90s), to let him know I was his angel standing by. Whatever he needed, mom would be there.
That’s why I love it can resonate with any time you need an angel standing by watching over you
