- When I was a teenager I actually had the lyrics to this song printed out (and it was a big deal to get something printed back then hehe) and hung on my wall. I adored this song...dreamed of a love like this (though perhaps less tragic, that'd be nice...) As almost always, I do not own the song.
This song reminds me of the Movie "WHAT DREAMS MAY COME". Robin Williams.
I cant listen to this song without crying. 3:41 my heart just breaks everytime. Yet I still listen because it's an amazing song.

Making this video almost broke me lol, not even sure why. It took me like three days picking it up and doing a little and then setting it back down again. I almost scrapped it altogether but I finally got through it cause I love this song hehe. An average video with have like mmm...20-30 individual text screens or so, some a little more or a little less. This beast had almost 100 screens, omg :D

I feel similar. This song plays like a biopic in my mind and I cry every time. The profundity-depth and passion within cannot but influence me and my life. It’s a beautiful song based on a beautiful and poignant moment. Oh but what a dream of love she had, even for a moment. Such beauty in these lyrics. Thank you for this video.
Ever listen to a song when you were a teenager, and it's beautiful but it's something you don't understand, and then you come back years later and listen and you understand it in a way that your smaller self just couldn't?
And if you're lucky, you listen someday with the person you love, and just cry and cry, and make a memory. Then you tell them to listen to it again if you go first.
So.....Matt Jones, did it find you? The less-tragic love I mean. I'm sorry to pry. I always hope for that dream to come true for everyone. And thank you for the song. She has a powerful way with words. One of my *sniffle* faves.
Unfortunately, no. Though not this tragic, I have not been gifted with the whole love thing. Doubt I will be.

I appreciate it now in a way I never could've if it had happened otherwise, and now I know not to waste the good moments. To give those moments all the attention and fullness they deserve.

Amazing how much feeling put into song
I’ve always loved this song since I first became aware of it in 1997. But it’s always bugged me that she said, “HER and her canvas would follow him.” It should be, “SHE and her canvas ...”
It’s a pretty glaring grammatical error. Moreover, it really can’t be explained away or excused as “poetic license.” One uses poetic license to achieve a desired effect-such as using slang terms such as “ain’t” in a song to give it a vernacular feel. The song would have lost absolutely nothing if she had used “she.”
