My old 27' Halcyon boat is on my driveway so I simply removed the paddle wheel from the underside and very cleverly put it in a jam jar with some nail polish remover to get the anti foul paint off it. I left it overnight, for two nights, and when I put my finger in the murky black syrupy water it had gone, and only a couple of tiny bits of copper remained. It had been melted away completely. I suppose the good news is that the chandlery sells all the bits separately, so no worries there. Anyway, well done mate and thank you for a very helpful video.
just out of interest where did you get the housing from for the speed sensor? all the ones i see online seem to have no housing which seems ridiculous?
Hi, this all came with the boat so I'm not able to comment. I would have thought that a new transducer would come with the housing, and if not that is really strange. Something like this comes with the housing.www.force4.co.uk/item/Raymarine/T910-Triducer/Y60?stock=44280&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADow_avutk6MQ-rAlfzM0MqK6FxkZ&gclid=CjwKCAjw74e1BhBnEiwAbqOAjJgy2UbNxdPIYVKne7ka-wwLwzxxAZUMR8VwmaRROftLNPWgF5VduRoCprAQAvD_BwE
@@BoatingwiththeBaileys I found a bung in the well that the paddle wheel was sunk. Got it out, cleaned, and put back in. However my speed gauge still isn’t working. I’ll buy a new one!
Hi, Good video! I have a NMEA 0183 depth sensor that looks identical to your speed sensor and I'd like to replace it with a NMEA 2000 one. Only trouble is I am having trouble identifying it so I can get a proper replacement that will fit the same through hull. Can you tell me the make and model please? Like I said it looks exactly like your speed paddle wheel with "Hand Tighten" written on it, the pull ring in the center, and the small black piece with two holes that looks like a submarine conning tower. Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your comments, it could be an Airmar unit but you would have to try and find a serial number to check for sure. I’m not sure if mine is Airmar or Raymarine, it’s connected to an ST60 if that helps. You can also get converters to change these analogue units and then they will output as NMEA2000. I’ll have a look on my next visit
Quick and easy video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks ⛵️👍

It had dissolved the pin also?

Very helpful. Now I have to find a temporary bung! ⛵️
I think you can buy the bungs separately if you don’t have one or you could get a set of soft wood bungs - also useful for seacocks etc

What model/ make is it?
@@BoatingwiththeBaileys no idea what the wheel is, but the boat is a 1994 Dehler CWS.
What’s the display end or head end device?

@@BoatingwiththeBaileys Thanks for the reply.
I guess I'll have to pull it and see if it's got a serial number.
keep up the great videos!
