    Thank you for the clear guide on what to do and why you need to do it, I’ve seen so many guides where they skip the step of how to connect the modem to the router properly and just go straight into the software part, really useful for a newbie.

    Thank you for your video, it was very helpful. The instructions made like you needed a smartphone just to set up the ASUS RT-AX82U router. I do not have a smartphone, so I was worried about trying to set up the router. Because of your video, I was able to set up my router. I was having problems with internet lagging. Thought it might be my router, I have a Netgear AC1750, which I purchased about 6 or 7 years ago. Everything I read said that if your router was over 5 years old, you needed to replace with a newer one. I am getting the same speed as I did with my old router. I guess I might need to upgrade my Fiber opts, I have the lowest speed but was supposed to be better than what I had with DSL. Because I live in a rural area, we all got our DSL upgraded to Fiber Opts. Was told it was better than the DSL, I am not so sure, it seems like I got better speed with the DSL. Which does not make sense to me, Fiber opts is supposed to be faster. Makes me wonder if they did something wrong when they installed the Fiber opts. Thank you very much for posting your video.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very welcome, and yes you are correct Fiber Optic internet should be much faster than both DSL and Cable. However there are several factors that can effect the speed and here are some common bottle nicks.
      Internet Service Plan Limitations
      Modem Speed Limitations
      Network Card Speed Limitations
      Wireless Card Speed Limitations
      Computer Ram/ Processor Speed/ and OS Tune up
      Any of the above issues could adversely effect your internet speeds.

    Greetings.. I have an Asus RT-AC87U Router , nearly 7 years old. Over the years my devices have grown and recently added 3 Deco X60 in a mesh configuration as access points with ethernet back haul . I live in a large 5600 sq. ft. , 3 floor home (concrete floors , 12 inch brick walls) . The home is covered by cat 6 cabling , so all heavy media centers ( 1 home theater and 2 smaller setups , all 4K , Netflix , Hotstar , +++) are wired ( TV's , Roku's , 4 K Fire Sticks , Apple TV , NVidia ) . I am into home automation so have a number of 2.4 Ghz camera's , smart devices. I also have a Zigbee set up ( about 34 devices) on a HA server . There would be about 50 + WiFi devices and about 20 + wired devices accessing the internet ( thru the Deco Mesh and some on the Asus Router) . While about 40 devices access through the deco mesh , and 20+ are wired , all the DHCP protocols are handled by the Asus Router . I would like to upgrade the router , to one capable of handling multiple devices. The WiFi coverage is not very important as the Deco Mesh would cover the home . Any suggestions as to the path I should take ? Your thoughts most welcome. I live in Bangalore.

      Greetings sir, This Asus RT-AX82U is a pretty good candidate for your specific setup. I have tried many different newer WiFi 6 Routers and this was the best so far. However even this does not give you the WiFi speed that the manufacturer promises. I have a 1Gbps internet service and I am lucky if I get 600Mbps. I have tried the latest devices to check the speed including iPhone 13 Pro Max and the most I will get is $800Mbps if I stand right next to the Router. So this is the best router so far but not a perfect router.

      Hi, it's never late to ask questions so you are welcome to ask anytime. The router must be connected to the modem downstairs and the signals should reach upstairs as long as the computer is right above the room where the router is. Also if the house is made of steel and concrete the signal strength will drop upstairs.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, the answer is NO, priority is given based on an individual Play Station's Mac Address, not a switch. A switch is nothing but a network hub that splits the network connection to multiple devices, but a switch itself doesn't have its own IP Address or Mac Address.

    Hello, really nice video. I have a question, i want a good wifi router to game on my pc. The problem is that the modem is 20 meters away. And when i put an ethernet cable my parents say it’s always in their way so i can’t use it. Is there any wifi router that i can put inside my room so i will connect it to the modem from a 20 meters distance, or should i buy a wifi router and place it next to the modem. If i do the second option, will i have a good and stable connection if the wifi router is still 20 meters away like my modem? Thanks.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks,
      This router requires to be hard wired to the modem, it doesn't have wireless WAN, only wireless LAN. Besides even if you buy a router that can connect wirelessly to your model you speed will not improve and it will still be limited to max output of your modem. So the solution ins to get a nice High Powered router next to the modem and that should operate fine in a 20 meter radius. However if there are many walls in between them, then you need a WiFi Mesh System to boost the signal throughout the house. A good example is Netgear SXK80B3-100NAS Orbi Pro Wifi 6 Mesh

      That depends on the types of legacy devices that you may have. If you choose the AX your older devices will not be able to connect to the router via 5GHz Band, so they will be stuck with 2.4GHz only. That is why they say unless you upgrade all your wireless devices, you can't really take full advantage of the most advanced wireless technology.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, the original modem may not have the same features, and speeds as this offers. For example your original model puts out 1GB through it's RJ45 LAN port, but it may not transmit WiFi 6 band. In addition to that this offers much superior firewall and internet security compared to Modem/Router combo units.

I was planning to use the same ssid info as previously set up, so I don’t have to redo lots of log in settings on connected devices. I don’t think that will create any problems, since both routers won’t be used simultaneously.
    Can you also change the “admin” name ? You only changed password. - I was confused whether logging in to ASUS admin app or web interface is the same as “naming your router” or if those are two different login situations… I’m accustomed to Airport Utility so this is a whole new ballgame.

    I have a portable ZTE MU5001 sim card MiFi which comes with an Ethernet port and I want to purchase one of the ASUS routers to get a better wired connection on my PS4, but I am not sure if it will be compatible with the ZTE device I have. • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101

      Greetings, no problem we all learn from each other no one is perfect. So the MiFi is limited to it's own LAN speed and it will not make a difference to waste more money on this router in hopes of getting a better speed. The speed bottlenick will be at teh MiFi no matter what kind of high speed router you ad on the output. Also you are not alone, I heard from a lot of people using ZTE products that they did not get the speed they were promised by the Cellular ISP.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101

      Unfortunate the router has to be next to the Modem or in a room with a LAN outlet. You could run up to 100 foot long CAT6 LAN Cable from the modem to your room either through the attic or under the carpet.

    Can you also connect the router with the modem wirelessly so without the ethernet cable?

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do that only if your Modem has a built-in Router with it. In that case, your ASUS router can be used as an access point.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thomasvanhecke5449 No really, because you are still limited to the maximum output of the modem wireless router. So that will be creating a bottleneck to your speed spectrum. I recommend using a LAN cable and connecting your ASUS directly to your modem.

      @majorahole2892 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unless you are referring to internal home network speed and you have gear configured and capable of pushing the speeds of Cat 7 buying absurdly overpriced cabling is simply not good information to push. That said 80% if not more of residential individuals are not even getting a true Gig from their ISPs, to finalize you'll be totally fine with Cat5e which is capable of pushing a Gig, optimally Cat6 which can technically push more but no matter what you will be bottlenecked by your ISP not the cable.
