    Looked up tons of reviews and this one is by far the best. Just an honest regular guy giving his opinion, that's really all I wanted. I'm getting the 2018 soon which is pretty much the same, so I'm really excited to get this car. Thank you so much for your review!

      Thank you! Yeah.. I watched so many "reviews" that seemed to all be cookie cutter... listing options... a few comments about driving... etc.. I was looking for a "regular guy" review and couldn't find one so I made my own.

    Wow! Superb review, Michael! You did an incredible job displaying your likes and dislikes of your new 2017 Elantra Limited.
    I live in South Florida, and I actually conducted a complete In-Depth Review of a 2017 Elantra (and a Likes/Dislikes review)!Surprisingly, you and I agreed on a lot of things in our reviews.
    Nevertheless, I was quite impressed by the amount of car you get for the money. Hyundai/Kia have definitely come a long way over the years.
    From one car reviewer to another, keep up the great work!

    I have this same car in Silver :) Love it! Things I love: Infinity sound system, LED taillights, LED daytime running lights, super quiet cabin, super comfortable seats, rear cross traffic alert, simple uncluttered dash layout, Audi look inside and out, 17 inch tires only cost $90.00 each to replace, smart cruise control and the auto emergency braking which already saved me from a definite crash which would have been my fault. There's only one thing I HATE about this car: The smart trunk MUST beep 5 times before it opens...in a quiet neighborhood like mine that's a nuisance so i had to turn that feature off. Overall...4.9 out of 5 stars! :)

    Yeah these Hyundai Elantra's are excellent cars. I've recently test driven some used 2017-2018 Elantra's (one had 109,475 miles on it) and all performed great. No squeaks, rattles or buzzes from the interior and the a/c was ice cold. I was so surprised how well the 2017 Elantra with 109,475 miles performed. It felt and drove like a newer car.

    so calif here, bought this in SE trim with popular and tech packages. Color shale gray. purchased it in June of last year. 21000 miles now. car is great, comfortable, enough power, great on gas, and is happy to cruise at 80 for hours on end . Las Vegas is 264 miles from home and I get 37 38 mpg doing 80 with ac on the whole way. very pleased with it. I discovered you can set auto door locks to engage when you start driving, instead of locking and unlocking each time you put in park and drive. In this other setting, when you reach about 5 mph, click, they lock, pretty cool.

    Very good video, thank you. One suggestion (a year late), check your users manual for navigation - voice commands. Some units have a "voice training" segment, wherein you actually "train" the car system to recognize your speech patterns and voice. Good luck.

    I'm looking for a new car now and one thing I notice that is really important to me with the Elantra is the simple power train which should amount to low maintenance. The fact it uses a 2.0L normally aspirated multiport ejected motor over smaller displacement direct injection will mean less servicing, longer lasting and longer oil change intervals. Those smaller motors that are GDI and some with turbo are asking too much from the motor if you ask me. I'd rather a bigger motor working less hard for long term life. Elantra has a regular 6 speed automatic transmission which should be good for the life of the car versus most other cars in this segment using CVT which will randomly need replacing. One thing that annoys me is that the infotainment goes to the home screen and gives that "confirm" button screen each time you start the car. My current car, a Kia with no touch screen, if i turn the radio on it stays on radio all the time with radio presets at my finger tips which is how I want it , I dont want to think about the stupid touch screen each time I start the car!

    Got my 3 months of Blue Link set up... we get a full year of connectivity but only 3 months of google and remote start.... Also got my 3 months of XM.. so I'll try the remote start tomorrow when it finally registers the car... they said it takes up to 24 hours.

    About the voice comma ? I believe in the instruction manual there is a list of voice commands that the system will accept. It’s similar to Apples Seri. I have the same system in my KIA and when I use the correct commands with lots of success.

    Wow! I'm looking to buy one of these, and I have the same story. I had maybe like 15 cars, but also drove like at least a 100 , by working at a mechanic for a few years. I never cared about this car, I'm more of a large car guy and never really wanted anything less than 6 cylinders, due to bad experience with 4 bangers in the past. So I rented one of these, the base model with almost nothing in it, with only a tiny radio and hubcabs and all that. But I really liked the car after driving it for like 15 miles! And I did drive the Corolla S and a Chrysler 300 just a couple of months earlier. People who are on the edge versus GM cars, I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze I'm trying to get rid of..because it just lacks in many ways and things started to rattle and it has no pickup power, especially when the AC is on, the car almost dies, this car is way better!
    But this thing, even though it only has like 20 extra horses compared to the Cruze, it feels a lot more and the transmission is great.
    Plus the price is fantastic, especially after dealer incentives I saw a brand spanking new SEL version for like $16,000, which is a steal.

    If you go into your settings on Google Maps on your phone app set the app to satellite view this will enable the speedometer and in some states will even warn you if an accident is ahead or there are cops ahead but you have to have it in satellite view set on the Google Maps app

  • @jamesconway4821
    @jamesconway4821 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's the microphone pain in the upper right hand corner on your dash display and say Google give me verbal directions to the nearest Taco Bell as long as you have pinpoint GPS accuracy on your phone this makes it a lot easier and it's a good experiment to try before having to upload any apps if you do upload any apps use Google Play Store make sure it's a free app and has a high rating on some phones you have to upload Google Earth First but that's also a free app and within that app contains the Google satellite view that works with Android auto of course

    Download the Waze App from your android play store or apple store, it should replace Google Maps on Android Auto. Waze shows the speed limits on every city street or highway (freeway)

    • @techguyMD
      @techguyMD  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I'll do that... That said.. the built in Navigation is REALLY good... but I would like to stream and stuff and not need to pick up the phone at all so waze makes more sense!
      Thanks!

    • @Flamesman
      @Flamesman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but Waze gets updates.. the traditional navigation system can only do so much, until hyundai releases a new firmware (highly unlikely they'll do that). Stick to Waze, it'll alert you based on a social environment. Any potholes, cops or traffic irregularities to be aware of when driving in areas. Since I got waze, I've never looked back to any other navigation app, as of yet.

    • @techguyMD

      Thanks a bunch! I just downloaded it and am setting it up... Sounds much better!

    • @Flamesman
      @Flamesman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool, and this shouldn't conflict with your tunes.. normally it fades outs the music for a few seconds when it notifies you of any navigation related alerts via Waze.

      @techguyMD  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      FARAZ FAROOQI tried it... It just crashes... As soon as I picked it in the head unit for navigation it goes black screen... Have to unplug phone.. had to uninstall Waze just to use nav.

    First say Google satellite view and say verbal directions also if you're in Android auto you can speak your address you never have to text it in I find Google satellite view with verbal commands to be the best if you don't say verbal directions it won't tell you when to turn or how far ahead your destination is if you upload pinpoint accuracy on your phone or GPS accuracy on your phone usually through Google Maps this will also include your speedometer in your Google displayed satellite view map if this gives you a hard time make sure your Google app is up to date in your phone and make sure it's using the satellite view not just a two-dimensional map view I also like to use speedometer app through Google play on my phone display the little compartment at the phone sits in try to prop it up so you can see the screen you can choose a color they have a blue that matches the interior blue of the Elantra perfectly you can even set the tone of the color through its color scheme it also has a built-in trip odometer along with maximum and minimum speed display you can find this all through Google Play Store for free good luck and safe travels
