@@watchdog4454 You must be new to the channel. Josh has dropped (often masked in 'jokes') plenty small anecdotes from his less than ideal childhood over the years. And the sandwich and drink (that he often had to rush to prepare himself the morning of) are indicative of a much larger problem of serious neglect. The fact that the second his dad got a place to live he moved in with him also says a lot.

@@thedirewolfking2274 ngl dad was a NCO and mom worked in the revenue office so with out DOD benefits we would have been like the . 01% of low income but always had money for lunch and to buy an extra snack id either give it away for free or save it up to give so a kid who didn't have money for lunch or bring a lunch could eat. But, I was always jealous of the brown bag kids because growing up I always thought those were the quintessential high school lunches
The fact that Nicole was in it to white guilt Trevor and Josh and subsequently getting really upset once Josh told his story is my most wholesome TH-cam moment of March 2023.
That sandwich took me back a bit, thin sliced bread, margarine, single slice of thinly sliced ham. Made the night before and wrapped in cling film to become a sweaty package of grimness.

Race issues meet poverty. It's sad, but it's also wholesome that Josh is like "yeah this was a reality of my life, it happens, support these programs". There was a time for my family when things got hard where my mum would make these giant batches of cookies (which I'm now aware would have taken like an hour and cost like $8 for all the ingredients), a batch would last my siblings and I like a month of lunchboxes and afternoon snacks. I got sick of them after a week straight so I started swapping the cookies for literally any other snack my friends had, I thought the ones who had branded chips and museli bars were rich.
@@guardiangarasu my grandparents were dirt poor, raising children on practically minimum wage jobs, living in the cheapest apartment they could find. By no means are they rich now, but they’re much better off, even getting into real estate. They were poor at 40, well off at 60. If it means even the smallest bit, I have full faith you’ll find yourself better off in the future. Don’t give up hope because you never know how much can change in 10-20 years, even if the first 36 felt very stagnant.
Succeed? Completely objective. You'll be good. Here's what I'd say to anybody, really, it's just what I believe... not really advice directed at anybody: Don't chase money, do as much yourself as possible, listen to you over anybody else (not even what your parent's have taught you, if you have any), just be good and forgiving of yourself. Everybody is connected and we're just different versions of each other... be 'selfish' in not caring what others think of you and finding your actual path, and when you're good selflessly spread that energy to others. One of the most important skills you can master: Patience.

The legitimate heartache you could see on Nicole’s face. Like I’m sure she’s heard stories about Josh’s childhood but to see it as a physical manifestation in what he had to take to school and eat really hurt her heart. Also, Trevor knew the pack size/cost of the sandwich meat AND that the barrel juice tasted like soap; so he too understood a little about abject poverty.
I had this experience the other day I was telling a story to my boyfriend from my childhood and he looked horrified after and I was like what? He goes babe that’s not a happy story. 😂😂😂😭😭😭

When Nicole said “sometimes my mom packed some extra lunch for kids that didn’t have some”. One feels so proud to be the kid that has food to share but at some point you start realizing, how lucky you are that you have lunch TO SHARE!!! Like my mom always insisted on having breakfast before leaving the house, she grew up not having enough food to go around after her mom died. It was her and her 5 sisters, an alcoholic father, and neglectful adults all around. So she always made us breakfast in case we forgot our lunch. I remember not being hungry enough to eat my lunch and passing it around because my mom taught me to never throw food away but never bring food back home. So I would just give it to someone else. And at some point it was the same person that asked me “what did mom pack for us today?” As a joke, but it wasn’t a joke and they ate my packed lunch everyday for the whole school year, because turns out their mom was sick, their dad left them at school super early and they didn’t have time for breakfast. Ever since I was a kid I always have food in my bag. Either a granola bar or a oat cookie for emergencies. Most of my friends make fun of the amount of food I buy, but won’t finish. But they always take it. I have candies near and have never denied food to anybody. You will be surprised at the amount of people in your life that don’t eat breakfast and have some kind of food until like 3pm. No one, much less a child should ever feel hungry.
As someone who use always go hungry as a kid and wouldn’t be sure when the next normal/real Meal wwould be thank you people like you help the world a lot💖 you seem to have a real Beautiful heart💗🌷
I wish I had people like you around me :,) I'm disabled and trying my best, but we usually go the last week of the month or more with little to no food. Right now I'm eating nothing until the second. My husband and mother in law are eating ramen and that's it. I have glucose tablets and caramels to make sure my sugar doesn't dip too low and that's all.
@@XTUDIEDDThe gist of it is that their mother grew up not knowing where her next meal was going to come from and when she became a mother made sure her kids would go to school full and pack a lunch for them but they were full for the entire day and would give their lunch away.

Yup. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that there is something fairly universal about ptsd...we very rarely tell everything. Also, him trying to share a "happy" time in his childhood, only for the other 2 to be shocked and horrified feels so familiar. It's why I quit talking about my family/childhood, I got tired of being pitied and tired of finding out new things that I thought were normal and actually were definitely not ok to have happened. Anyway, I hope you are doing better now, and are finding the help and support you need to feel safe and happy and at peace ❤🩹

I am honestly so proud of Josh. As a fellow person who experienced a lot of childhood neglect and parentification, it’s so good to see how well he is doing. I’m older than Josh but it reminds me to keep growing and healing.

I love seeing someone like me, Josh, who ate Buddig sammies and drank blue juice barrels and was a severely neglected child, overcome and make light of the pain. I'm laughing thru the tears too, bud.
I called them juice grenades. My parents were hippies, so they didn't buy that crap, but we were poor so my lunches were still pretty dire. Rich kids: Capri Sun, poor kids: juice grenades, poor kids with hippie parents: drink from the water fountain.
I was a free and reduced lunch kid. I went to a school where majority of the kids were, so no one really brought food from home or bought them. The only time we had to bring something was when we had a field trip. Everyone went to the corner store and got the exact same thing: a small hoggie style sandwich, 25 cent bag of chips (hot Cheetos), and a fun colored sugar juice.

I was cracking up that Nicole genuinely started crying, I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity of the whole moment especially with Trevor sort of laughing but getting kind of emotional too because of Nicole. She's such a sweetheart. I remember helping my friends out with food when I was going to school too, sometimes you just realize the privilage you have compared to others and you really want to help out. No kid should ever stress out about food and have to skip meals. Our education system in the states is a complete failure for allowing that to happen in so many areas so I'm with Josh in supporting organizations that make sure that can be avoided.
sometimes when he talks about his childhood i want to react the same way! i agree, no kid should have to stress about something like that. it's not a child's fault they're stuck in an unfortunate situation, they should not be punished for something they have no control over. California semi-recently made school lunches completely free across the whole state and i'm so happy my taxes are going to something as important as that. heres to hoping more states will follow through with similar meal programs.
The weird thing is Nicole's lunch made me so much sadder, because that's just an eating disorder waiting to happen. I'd rather drink barrel blue than have my mother stress 100 CALORIES into my head forever.

I was an extra food kid too Nicole! My dad remembers the school calling him cause my lunch account kept running out and he finally figured out I was buying stuff for the other kids who didn't have enough food. Bless him, he just quietly refilled the account for years cause he was proud I cared. Glad to see other kids wanted to share too!
same. my mom would get so mad at me. from what i can remember, lunches were $2-$3, so on the days my mom didn't pack us lunch and instead gave us money, i'd pretend i didn't have money, have the lunch be put on my tab, and then give the cash to my friends so we can all have dessert lol. ice creams were about 50 cents so we'd all get an ice cream, or if one of my friends didn't have a lunch or didn't have much for lunch i'd let them buy a lunch with my money or let them buy snacks/drinks from the vending machines. unfortunately i am the same way still. i say unfortunately because now its MY money i can't help but spend on my friends hahahaha.

That part made me laugh. Like, you had to be taught how to love people? My parents didn't show me a lot of love and I still know how to love and respect people. Maybe if my parents were richer and showed me more love I'd also laugh then pretend to cry at people having stressful childhoods

As someone who grew up in OC with neglectful parents, I love that Josh makes me feel more normal. Also, Nicole's snack sharing ways were how I became elementary school besties with a Persian girl and I love that. I am pretty sure the Persian love language is food, it's awesome.

I really appreciate seeing Josh on a show like this. I don't think I've ever seen anyone grow up in such a similar way to myself in a position like he is. It means a lot now as a 26 year old, and probably means a lot to the kids going through similar situations today.
My family and I struggled growing up, like no water or electricity bc mum and dad couldn’t afford the bills but mum ALWAYS made sure a lunch was packed or ordered from the school. I appreciate it so much now that I’m old enough to understand her circumstances

From 1st-7th grade I had lunches like Nicole and also shared them with others. From 8th to 12th grade I had lunches like Josh (I was also on reduced lunch), and had people like Nicole kind enough to share some of that love and kindness back to me when I needed it in the form of food. I never experienced Trevor's lunch per se, but I experienced the comfort it brought him. I've also been grocery shopping and couponing using the ones my parents had like Josh, so since I was like 10 I was always cooking for my family. And it didn't stop there, since I was about 17 or 18 I then began cooking for my church. So I understand the feeling of cooking all day and just wanting something simple and reminiscent of childhood to bring comfort at the end fo the day
I worked with a guy from Lebanon, ( mall job, we were teens) his Mom made Biryani and homemade yogurt and I would go to the food court and buy him whatever he wanted so we could trade lunches. SHOUT OUT to Sam's Mom. You introduced me to fantastic food!🥰

I relate to Josh's lunch, except I mainly made it myself and would only be allowed to use a single slice of meat. Sometimes there wouldn't be anything available to make lunch so I would just have soggy pieces of toast from the schools "breakfast" program to last me the whole day. For awhile my mom did make me lunch with like spaghettio's in a thermos but she gave up after awhile lol
God if I ever see Josh I just want to give him a hug. Also just tell him that he’s one of the people that inspire to not only cook but to take care of myself.

My family was in the free lunch income bracket all through elementary school and the school lunch lady must've known 'cause she'd always give me just a slightly larger portion, and she'd offer me any leftovers that they were going to throw away. I'd see her on my walk home from middle and high school and she'd always throw out a smile and a wave and ask how my day was.

I can't say I've ever cried over an episode of Mythical Kitchen or GMM for that matter but good lord was this triggering. When Nicole said "my parent's gave me so much love I had to share it" was wild to hear, I had never thought of the notion of giving in that way. I had always gotten bullied in the past for looking out for the kids that went without and to this day it'd be a cold day in hell if I didn't continue on in the same fashion. Coming from someone who had free lunches from the government and being poor my childhood i relate so much with josh ive never had a homemade lunch from my parent got free food from the school on Fridays so i had food for the weekend i feel like i ended up pretty okay i feel humble and proud of people who have gone through those struggles and have made something of what little we had when we were younger give yourself a pat on the back for your Triumphs

As a grown ass man who doesn't like most veggies. Most of the time it's a texture thing. You can always add different flavors to mask the flavor of veggies you don't like but texture is something that you can't mask.

I can totally relate to Trevor's "roles switching". We NEVER ate out growing up and i got so sick of my mom cooking the same couple meals over and over. But now at 32 i go out of my way to go visit for those meals lol
I really appreciate Josh, I got a very similar lunch with no opportunity to buy lunch and my parents didn’t want to buy juice. They’re pretty wealthy they just saw it as a waste of money. So all I had in the day was a small sandwich and snacks from my friends. My school did have a snack program but my parents didn’t buy in. So thank you Josh and Nicole for being one to share

Because most of the time, I was alone because I didnt have food; whether, like Josh, my parents werent in a position to attend to my needs, or whatever - AND people like Nicole (after a traumatized feral goblin kid) would give me food which let me actually focus at school. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Every time I tell my husband a story of growing up poor, he tells me it's sad. I always called those barrel drinks "huggies", and I found out recently that the brand that we have here is called "little hug fruit barrels"
I have no idea why I went into this not expecting to tear up. Every one of them had a wonderfully wholesome moment, and I (like so many of us) am so incredibly proud of Josh for where he's at. But Nicole...man oh man, the waterworks began when she talked about willingly going and sharing her lunches. Not because her mom told her to (even if she did) but because she truly just wanted to be a friend to them. Things like that give me so, so much hope in what can sometimes be a pretty bleek world and it can be an overwhelming feeling when you're not expecting it ❤

Joshes childhood stories always have me rolling because it's the most relatable shiz. I got school lunch because I was on the free lunch program, but you bet that's what my weekend lunches looked like. Anywho, I don't consider my childhood tragic, my mom was poor. It was family's parents could afford for them didn't show any real love that were tragic. Love my mom.
Thank you Josh for sharing! I was one of the poor kids at school myself, we were poor enough that I never had home-made lunch, I had a punch card that I'd give to the cashier and they'd punch the date and I just got lunch for free. I also grew up in a very small town so there wasn't any choice, the lunch room made one thing each day and you ate that one thing whether you liked it or not! Like you though, things have gotten much better, I think it really built a lot of character (and horrible broken brain problems as well, but you know, who doesn't have those!)
I remember lunch at school. Starting in HS, they had three options for us. Either the hot lunch line (where you got a meal), the ala cart line (where you could buy like fries or fruit or pop tarts, etc) and they had a cold sandwich bar. Every single day I ate a sandwich with mayo, cheese and lettuce, except… Once a month they had bosco sticks. That was the one hot meal I absolutely loved. To this day I’ve never seen a place that made them as good as my high school cafeteria. Something about the garlic butter they put on them… I hated that school so much but I would willingly go back to have those one last time.
The Juice Barrels are an eternal enigma. None know, now, who made them or how they appeared on store shelves-but all who lived through such times know about The Juice Barrels. I’m honestly astounded that Josh has one in his hand, for in my region of the world, they no longer exist beyond the collections of strange old wizards.

Was always Wonder bread bologna was from a cheap meat shop about the same price. those were the good days though. for awhile it was Vienna sausage and spam. we even got down to saltines and ketchup, and cheese whiz. being said. when we did have home cooked food it was made with love and was the bomb. Ever have Pasta Uova Di San Giuseppe with mudica? we'd make it as a community. we'd make so much food shelters would run out of storage space. so then it would be 3-6 months of defrosted pasta and boiled eggs at school.
Same, Josh. Started learning to cook at 11 or 12 because otherwise my meals would remain largely ham sandwiches and plain chips. My mom was definitely doing her best.

Sharing home food was outlawed in my school due to apple in razor panic in the 80s and 90s They enforced it.

There was a time for my family when things got hard where my mum would make these giant batches of cookies (which I'm now aware would have taken like an hour and cost like $8 for all the ingredients), a batch would last my siblings and I like a month of lunchboxes and afternoon snacks. I got sick of them after a week straight so I started swapping the cookies for literally any other snack my friends had, I thought the ones who had branded chips and museli bars were rich.
"I don't get it anymore because it tastes like trauma." Josh why do you have to be relatable in the worst way 😭😭😭

@@guardiangarasu my grandparents were dirt poor, raising children on practically minimum wage jobs, living in the cheapest apartment they could find.
By no means are they rich now, but they’re much better off, even getting into real estate. They were poor at 40, well off at 60.
If it means even the smallest bit, I have full faith you’ll find yourself better off in the future. Don’t give up hope because you never know how much can change in 10-20 years, even if the first 36 felt very stagnant.

Here's what I'd say to anybody, really, it's just what I believe... not really advice directed at anybody: Don't chase money, do as much yourself as possible, listen to you over anybody else (not even what your parent's have taught you, if you have any), just be good and forgiving of yourself. Everybody is connected and we're just different versions of each other... be 'selfish' in not caring what others think of you and finding your actual path, and when you're good selflessly spread that energy to others. One of the most important skills you can master: Patience.

The legitimate heartache you could see on Nicole’s face. Like I’m sure she’s heard stories about Josh’s childhood but to see it as a physical manifestation in what he had to take to school and eat really hurt her heart.
Also, Trevor knew the pack size/cost of the sandwich meat AND that the barrel juice tasted like soap; so he too understood a little about abject poverty.
I relate hard to Josh trying to tell the "good stories" and people still being sad.

When Nicole said “sometimes my mom packed some extra lunch for kids that didn’t have some”. One feels so proud to be the kid that has food to share but at some point you start realizing, how lucky you are that you have lunch TO SHARE!!! Like my mom always insisted on having breakfast before leaving the house, she grew up not having enough food to go around after her mom died. It was her and her 5 sisters, an alcoholic father, and neglectful adults all around. So she always made us breakfast in case we forgot our lunch. I remember not being hungry enough to eat my lunch and passing it around because my mom taught me to never throw food away but never bring food back home. So I would just give it to someone else. And at some point it was the same person that asked me “what did mom pack for us today?” As a joke, but it wasn’t a joke and they ate my packed lunch everyday for the whole school year, because turns out their mom was sick, their dad left them at school super early and they didn’t have time for breakfast. Ever since I was a kid I always have food in my bag. Either a granola bar or a oat cookie for emergencies. Most of my friends make fun of the amount of food I buy, but won’t finish. But they always take it. I have candies near and have never denied food to anybody. You will be surprised at the amount of people in your life that don’t eat breakfast and have some kind of food until like 3pm. No one, much less a child should ever feel hungry.

I'm disabled and trying my best, but we usually go the last week of the month or more with little to no food. Right now I'm eating nothing until the second. My husband and mother in law are eating ramen and that's it. I have glucose tablets and caramels to make sure my sugar doesn't dip too low and that's all.

Yup. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that there is something fairly universal about ptsd...we very rarely tell everything. Also, him trying to share a "happy" time in his childhood, only for the other 2 to be shocked and horrified feels so familiar. It's why I quit talking about my family/childhood, I got tired of being pitied and tired of finding out new things that I thought were normal and actually were definitely not ok to have happened. I was a free and reduced lunch kid. I went to a school where majority of the kids were, so no one really brought food from home or bought them.
The only time we had to bring something was when we had a field trip. Everyone went to the corner store and got the exact same thing: a small hoggie style sandwich, 25 cent bag of chips (hot Cheetos), and a fun colored sugar juice.

I was cracking up that Nicole genuinely started crying, I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity of the whole moment especially with Trevor sort of laughing but getting kind of emotional too because of Nicole. She's such a sweetheart. I remember helping my friends out with food when I was going to school too, sometimes you just realize the privilage you have compared to others and you really want to help out. No kid should ever stress out about food and have to skip meals. Our education system in the states is a complete failure for allowing that to happen in so many areas so I'm with Josh in supporting organizations that make sure that can be avoided.

sometimes when he talks about his childhood i want to react the same way! i agree, no kid should have to stress about something like that. it's not a child's fault they're stuck in an unfortunate situation, they should not be punished for something they have no control over. California semi-recently made school lunches completely free across the whole state and i'm so happy my taxes are going to something as important as that. heres to hoping more states will follow through with similar meal programs.
The weird thing is Nicole's lunch made me so much sadder, because that's just an eating disorder waiting to happen. I'd rather drink barrel blue than have my mother stress 100 CALORIES into my head forever.

I was an extra food kid too Nicole! My dad remembers the school calling him cause my lunch account kept running out and he finally figured out I was buying stuff for the other kids who didn't have enough food. Bless him, he just quietly refilled the account for years cause he was proud I cared. Glad to see other kids wanted to share too!
same. my mom would get so mad at me. from what i can remember, lunches were $2-$3, so on the days my mom didn't pack us lunch and instead gave us money, i'd pretend i didn't have money, have the lunch be put on my tab, and then give the cash to my friends so we can all have dessert lol. ice creams were about 50 cents so we'd all get an ice cream, or if one of my friends didn't have a lunch or didn't have much for lunch i'd let them buy a lunch with my money or let them buy snacks/drinks from the vending machines. unfortunately i am the same way still. i say unfortunately because now its MY money i can't help but spend on my friends hahahaha.

I really appreciate seeing Josh on a show like this. I don't think I've ever seen anyone grow up in such a similar way to myself in a position like he is. It means a lot now as a 26 year old, and probably means a lot to the kids going through similar situations today.

From 1st-7th grade I had lunches like Nicole and also shared them with others. From 8th to 12th grade I had lunches like Josh (I was also on reduced lunch), and had people like Nicole kind enough to share some of that love and kindness back to me when I needed it in the form of food. I never experienced Trevor's lunch per se, but I experienced the comfort it brought him. I've also been grocery shopping and couponing using the ones my parents had like Josh, so since I was like 10 I was always cooking for my family. And it didn't stop there, since I was about 17 or 18 I then began cooking for my church. So I understand the feeling of cooking all day and just wanting something simple and reminiscent of childhood to bring comfort at the end fo the day
I worked with a guy from Lebanon, ( mall job, we were teens) his Mom made Biryani and homemade yogurt and I would go to the food court and buy him whatever he wanted so we could trade lunches. SHOUT OUT to Sam's Mom. You introduced me to fantastic food!🥰

This made me tear up a little because this is LITERALLY how I’m trying to raise my kids.

They all had fancy lunch box and Josh just had a paper bag. Really shows how far he had come in life.
I relate to Josh's lunch, except I mainly made it myself and would only be allowed to use a single slice of meat. Sometimes there wouldn't be anything available to make lunch so I would just have soggy pieces of toast from the schools "breakfast" program to last me the whole day. For awhile my mom did make me lunch with like spaghettio's in a thermos but she gave up after awhile lol

My family was in the free lunch income bracket all through elementary school and the school lunch lady must've known 'cause she'd always give me just a slightly larger portion, and she'd offer me any leftovers that they were going to throw away. I'd see her on my walk home from middle and high school and she'd always throw out a smile and a wave and ask how my day was.

I can't say I've ever cried over an episode of Mythical Kitchen or GMM for that matter but good lord was this triggering. When Nicole said "my parent's gave me so much love I had to share it" was wild to hear, I had never thought of the notion of giving in that way. Coming from someone who had free lunches from the government and being poor my childhood i relate so much with josh ive never had a homemade lunch from my parent got free food from the school on Fridays so i had food for the weekend i feel like i ended up pretty okay i feel humble and proud of people who have gone through those struggles and have made something of what little we had when we were younger give yourself a pat on the back for your Triumphs

I can totally relate to Trevor's "roles switching". We NEVER ate out growing up and i got so sick of my mom cooking the same couple meals over and over. But now at 32 i go out of my way to go visit for those meals lol
I really appreciate Josh, I got a very similar lunch with no opportunity to buy lunch and my parents didn’t want to buy juice. They’re pretty wealthy they just saw it as a waste of money. So all I had in the day was a small sandwich and snacks from my friends. My school did have a snack program but my parents didn’t buy in. So thank you Josh and Nicole for being one to share

Every time I tell my husband a story of growing up poor, he tells me it's sad. I always called those barrel drinks "huggies", and I found out recently that the brand that we have here is called "little hug fruit barrels"

I have no idea why I went into this not expecting to tear up. Every one of them had a wonderfully wholesome moment, and I (like so many of us) am so incredibly proud of Josh for where he's at. But Nicole...man oh man, the waterworks began when she talked about willingly going and sharing her lunches. Not because her mom told her to (even if she did) but because she truly just wanted to be a friend to them. Things like that give me so, so much hope in what can sometimes be a pretty bleek world and it can be an overwhelming feeling when you're not expecting it ❤

Shout out to josh for touching a topic that’s still true to this day, they kids (and parents) who know others are struggling and go the extra mile to make sure there’s a little something extra are awesome. I’d rather give my lunch up to someone who I know didn’t know when their next meal might come. When I knew I was going to eat.
I had Josh's lunch setup, but I loved it. It was just normal to me. But I totally did manage to end up with items from Trevor's lunch pretty often because I had good friends.
i also grew up poor like josh in a rough home so i really relate to him when he tells stories of his childhood and helps me not feel so alone and see him be fairly successful on this channel is heartening
Joshes childhood stories always have me rolling because it's the most relatable shiz. I got school lunch because I was on the free lunch program, but you bet that's what my weekend lunches looked like. Anywho, I don't consider my childhood tragic, my mom was poor. It was family's parents could afford for them didn't show any real love that were tragic. Love my mom.

Thank you Josh for sharing! I was one of the poor kids at school myself, we were poor enough that I never had home-made lunch, I had a punch card that I'd give to the cashier and they'd punch the date and I just got lunch for free. I also grew up in a very small town so there wasn't any choice, the lunch room made one thing each day and you ate that one thing whether you liked it or not! Like you though, things have gotten much better, I think it really built a lot of character (and horrible broken brain problems as well, but you know, who doesn't have those!)
I remember lunch at school. Starting in HS, they had three options for us. Either the hot lunch line (where you got a meal), the ala cart line (where you could buy like fries or fruit or pop tarts, etc) and they had a cold sandwich bar. Every single day I ate a sandwich with mayo, cheese and lettuce, except… Once a month they had bosco sticks. That was the one hot meal I absolutely loved. To this day I’ve never seen a place that made them as good as my high school cafeteria. Something about the garlic butter they put on them… I hated that school so much but I would willingly go back to have those one last time.
The Juice Barrels are an eternal enigma.

I’m honestly astounded that Josh has one in his hand, for in my region of the world, they no longer exist beyond the collections of strange old wizards.
I will mail you a box of them, where I am they still have them and while I haven’t had them in a few years I will forever love them

Growing up we moved almost every school year. I love how kind Nicole is and always has been, and I’m not at all surprised. 💗
6:00 Also a Josh, same lunches. sandwich looks good to me. Was always Wonder bread bologna was from a cheap meat shop about the same price. those were the good days though. for awhile it was Vienna sausage and spam. we even got down to saltines and ketchup, and cheese whiz. being said. when we did have home cooked food it was made with love and was the bomb. Ever have Pasta Uova Di San Giuseppe with mudica? we'd make it as a community. we'd make so much food shelters would run out of storage space. so then it would be 3-6 months of defrosted pasta and boiled eggs at school.
Same, Josh. Started learning to cook at 11 or 12 because otherwise my meals would remain largely ham sandwiches and plain chips. My mom was definitely doing her best.
I didn't realize how much I needed some unscripted MK action. Really cool to see you guys just being humans, talkin' about your life. That kind of thing is insanely endearing, because of how much Josh's story resonates with me! I really think you guys, MK as a whole, have a great grasp on what folks *actually* want to see from you guys, and you skip the corpo bullshit. Another banger :)
I totally understand how Nicole feels when I have friends I love and learn about their struggles before I meet them it makes me cry, to see someone so nice having to struggle so much
