    Did you know that the photon torpedo launcher area on the original D7 isn’t a photon torpedo launcher, it is in fact the navigational deflector.

    • @Anlushac11
      @Anlushac11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It was, until Star Trek The Motion Picture started popping photon torpedoes out of there. Originally the Klingon's didn't have photon torpedoes, they fired Disruptors from the front of the warp nacelle. On the underside of the bridge module were emitters for whatever the Klingon equivalent of a phaser was.

    • @geisminiatures
      @geisminiatures  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@nicholasdickens2801 I remember reading that somewhere! I think even the original model kit from the 60s had it labeled as an antenna or something.

      Yuppers.
      Disruptors and phasers on the original D7. Though we never see the phasers in action.
      Disruptors are quicker to fire than photons. Though less powerful, especially at a distance.

      @@geisminiaturesYeah, the AMT Klingon D7 model had a piece that was chrome on some models and it had a single antenna inside a tubular piece.

      Thank you so much! That was the main part that I wanted to get right. Other models I’ve seen are pretty stark, color wise and I wanted to make sure it looked like it’s been in service for years along with battle scars

      I love both looks but I feel in the movies the Klingon ships should be more muted in colour and have scars and wear and tear and lots of interstellar grime all over them.

    My favorite Klingon ship in all of Star Trek....and you did this beautifully! When you were testing out the photon torpedo leds, I could literally hear the photon torpedoes firing in my mind. As an amateur (CG) modeler myself, this is great inspiration for me to go back and redo my K't'inga in Blender. What you've built here looks nothing short of studio quality. Nice touch with the battle damage.
    Loved the 4K Director's Edition. I've had copies of Star Trek TMP since it was available for sale price on VHS. The DVD director's edition was beautiful, but what they did with the 4K cut to address certain events in the movie was a welcome touch.... such as seeing the first K't'inga get blipped off the tactical display at Epsilon IX when V'ger returns fire at the Klingons.
    Maj'Qa! Q;apla!

      @@saintelmo5590 thank you so much, i really appreciate it! I would love to see your model if you have it online somewhere, you can do amazing things now with CG.
      It’s fun to watch the different versions of the motion picture, I still haven’t decided on which enjoy more but the Directors Cut feels more cohesive

      @@geisminiatures Oh, yes, I love going back to the original theatrical cut for pure nostalgia's sake. "This was 1979!" and then, I watch the Director's Edition, and just get blown away. Imagine if they'd had this back in '79?
      I do have a pretty decent model of the K't'inga made. I will try to post images of it.
      Under another TH-cam account, I do have a couple of versions of my CG K't'inga model in recreating the opening scene (quite amateurishly, I might add) of Star Trek The Motion Picture. The second version has the better K't'inga models. Channel: Martok The Unbidden. You'll find videos of other CG model builds I'd made.
