Rich Student Is Rude To Poor Student 😳💰🧑‍🎓

  • A rich student is rude to his classmate just because she is poor.
He thinks that he deserves the Harvard scholarship more than her just because he is rich.
Coming from money and having a rich family doesn't mean one is better than someone poor. In the end, the deserving and capable student is the one that succeeds, not the rich one.

This reminds me so much of when I was a medical student. When I was a student you had to be very rich to study medicine so your parents could afford it or be very poor and get a scholarship. Everybody else was wiped out. Those super rich students used to look down on people with low incomes- even their patients! I never forget when I did psychiatry when I heard one student say "I want to get back to surgery so I can deal with real patients." I heard other students say similar things when we did General Practice. In the USA you call General Practitioners family doctors.
The problem with this is that the community as a whole is not reflected and i did observe that doctors and medical students of lower income backgrounds did get more information from patients then the super rich. Those rich students used to really look down on non-medical students. Some literally bought their way through university through good connections.
However those students of poorer backgrounds made really good students and doctors.
The irony here is that in 1999 I wrote a paper predicting that by 2010 a UK university student with no parental income would be £50,000 in debt on graduation this would lead to graduates not buying houses leading to a recession in the housing industry and a knock on recession. Sadly i proved to be right. In the same paper I worked out that it would save the UK government £3 billion a year if they paid every student £1000 per month and paid fees centrally.

  • @OnlyTheChronic

Condescending bad attitudes won't get you very far in life and Daddy can't always bully your way into what you want. Scholarships were made for people like Maddie who want to break out of poverty and are willing to work hard to make it happen, he already had a way to pay if Daddy donates millions. I was in a similar situation years ago and I let that kid break my confidence but now 20 + years later I provided Christmas to that person's children this past year because he couldn't afford it and I brought the kids a truckload of presents & Christmas dinner.. That wasn't a "win" for me and I was happy to do it but the petty side of me did hope he remembered the day he downgraded me. I don't blame him for what I chose to do because I had options and I didn't have to let him get to me, that was MY choice.

    I think a part 2 is needed.
Kevin's father hears about his flunking grades and his horrible treatment of Madison(her nickname is Maddie) from the counselor. He and the older brother really let Kevin have it, pointing out that it's not the way to treat others. They decide to teach him a hard lesson in his attitude likening him to both Kevin and his older brother's mom due to how she spoiled him rotten and never disciplined him when he got out of line. The father and Kevin's older brother cut him off by canceling his private tutors. They tell him off that he can study at the school's tutors. No more spending their money on his material things, Kevin can start working for a living. No more borrowing his father's Tesla or his brother's Cadillac, he can drive a used car to get where he needs to go. No more designer clothes, he can wear clothes from the thrift stores. When Kevin tries to protest saying his mom will hear this, the father and older brother points out that they're not backing down from her whining.
The next day, Kevin has to take a used car to his school and has to wear thrift store clothes. He is made fun of by his former friends and is so embarrassed that he has to hide in his class to avoid having to deal with the teasing. When he has to use the school's tutors, Kevin's teasing becomes worse and is a laughingstock to his peers. Finally, he gets a job waiting tables at a coffee shop and is criticized for the poor job on his first day. Kevin is very disappointed when his first paycheck arrives and it's less than what he expects. He finally understands how hard his family worked to give him what he wanted and the remorse he feels in how he treated Madison with his poor behavior.
Then one day, Kevin and Madison happen to run into each other. After he endured another bullying from his classmates and former friends, he is alone. Madison comes over to comfort Kevin and this takes him by surprise. He asks her why she's being nice to him after all the mistreatment he put her through. Madison tells Kevin that she knows what it's like to be made fun of for not having enough money. In that moment, he apologizes to her for his earlier mistreatment of her. Kevin learned what life is like having to be bullied for being poor, having to work to make a living and had a lot of time to readjust his attitude. Madison forgives him and he finds a true friend in her. She helps tutor Kevin with the subjects he struggling with. This helps him raise his grades up in time for graduation.
Although he is no longer banned from using his father's money, Kevin decided to continue working his way through school and mentions it feels nice to to make his own money. This impresses his father knowing he learned a lesson from what he went through. Kevin mentions that he reconsidered his stance and has talked to the counselor about other college options.

You see, this is what I love! She earned her way to be successful and become wealthy, whereas Kevin didn't and thought that he was owed everything because he doesn't know what 'earning' means.
Here you see two types of rich people. You see the already rich and entitled person who has probably never worked a day in his life, then you have the 'not-so-well-off but willing to do everything she can to make it' person.
I'm not saying that if you are born rich, then you can't be a good person because if you have still made something of yourself and treated others with respect, even if you have a lot of money given to you, then I can definitely respect that.
The problem arises when people think that all rich people are like this guy, when in fact, there are many rich people who are like this girl.

Good life lesson of the day. You shouldn't judge someone based on what income status afford going good college hard get in has nothing do with came well to do family or middle class? Have lot to do hard work through high school have high GPA Sat's not about how much money of income make rich or poor? FYI always kind get scholarship sorry that young man was rude cruel jerk. thinks he better than her because he rich boy? Sorry he didn't do so well in high school his GPA is good enough he thinks he did? Did not do well on his Sat's. My advice is before your judge someone? Stop and think not much a perfect person?

This story does not make any since not this time in life maybe for the 50s, 60s, 70s 80s and even 90s but not in this time. Come on him saying a woman owning a business like Oprah don't ring a bell.

what a dumb mentality, I am a female and a have a business and I am not rich but we earn enough . being rich will not support you if you have no dreams or ambition to do something to better your self and be a of use in our society.

They try to make the antagonists as unlikable as possible to make it more satisfying when they get what's coming to them, but instead it totally takes me out of the story. When the characters don't act like real people, it robs any investment I could have had with the story. I'm not saying people like this don't exist at all, but they represent a VERY small percentage of the population (around 3.6%), so almost no one can relate to these antagonists.
