Amen to what Bro. Powell says at the end. We ARE the chidren of light and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness (Eph 5:8-11). Nothing is worth compromising your annointing. It is our power to destroy the yokes (Isa 10:27) that are binding our brothers and sisters.
WOW!!! WHAT HE SAID AT THE END REALLY BLESSED MY SOUL. That's the kind of heart I've had for decades. As matter of fact, I've played for churches, and did not charge a dime. I'm very impressed to hear this type of wisdom coming from a young and gifted musician. God speed to you. Keep on being a light and testimony for the kingdom of God. God bless every effort that you set out to accomplish.
The last minute or so of this vid blessed me the most, we do this for Christ! So that He may be glorified! BUT "You supposed to get paid" lol! Much luv dude.
i never met kevin but i totally like the type of musician he is. This whole video blessed me dearly and now i am going to watch it and take my relationship like i take my organ and music..more seriously thanks for the post
I love this guy's spirit (humble). I could tell he has a relationship with God after watching him play in a few videos and he confirmed he does on this video. -- Love the chords
I would pay to see a full video of Kevin powell teaching variations of chords etc. So nice lol! I will be the first to buy! Personally my favorite organist!
The playing was great and I enjoyed the strong contemporary chord structures. But that word at the end was even more powerful. What a bold statement by a young musician to the Gospel musicians who are "out there" playing because it pays well or up there playing the organ on Sunday mornings just for the money.
If only that last part could be spoken in every church, I believe every musician & singer would immediately become convicted and understand their purpose. That youg man put it out there so strong, one can't help but to use the gift for the purpose of lifting the Father!
I Love the song he played Andrea Crouch Always Remember Jesus.Outstanding Playing and he has the ANOINTING WHich is the Main Thing.Love your chords MAN.
i love this brothers comments ,he's right some musicians have forgot or may have never been taught about their positions as minstrels in the church, and i have to hold some pastors accoutable for this ,because they more interested in someone that can play good shout music and back the preacher music than someone that's annoited of the holy spirit.
It's one thing to listen to other styles and be well versed in music. It's another thing to start playing "Blame it on the Alcohol" during the offering (yes, I've actually seen that done, and then you have the teens bumpin and grinding their way down the center aisle. It's a matter of discretion, and not taking people's minds out of service and back to the club - since music is one of the most powerful forces and has the ability to do that.
It does not make any since at all how I absolutely cannot listen to this video straight through without rewinding something four times every two minutes
when he is on the Amaj7+9 chord and he is on a diff root it becomes a diff chord when he told u he was on Db the chord now becomes a Db #5+9 he is substituting the root of the chord!!! its not deep its juz basic theory when u learn the science behind what u doing it make it a lot ezr to learn and retain what u r doin!!!! but this dud is a beast!!!
im new to the scence of the piano/organ and i need some tutorials if yall dont mind, i play for a church never had any type of lessons but i need some im also an drummer but i want to be at the top of my game so please someone breaks this down into a tutorial !!
Here are some suggestions I think could help you improve with either instrument(drums, and piano): 1. Improve your music theory skills 2. Listen to a lot of music 3. Practice difficult things until they aren't difficult, then move on to the next difficult thing 4. Record yourself and keep any idea you come up with as part of your musical repertoire 5. Work on technique - for drums practice rudiments every day with a metronome, and for piano, practice scales, scale modes, Hanon exercises etc
Even after all these years, those chords are super rich!!!
i really appreciate how Sebastian gets them to slow down and explain the theory so that us HUMANS can receive it! Thanks Sebastain!!!!
