I'm sure if Peru's service proves successful, they could do a mix of rebuilding the engines to a higher tier as well as put out an RFB for greener engines and new passenger cars (or just go for DMU's on a core portion and use them Caltrain rolling stock like the SEPTA "Bomber" services-although sometimes they still uses Silverliners for the super expresses)
I found this quite an informative video! Now, I've learned about the Lego tram (which looks cute!), the restoration of congestion pricing in Manhattan (congrats!), and some special liveries, including Metra's Veterans Day unit. Also, I've heard of Caltrain selling their old fleet to Lima, and I look forward to watching Lima get an American-style commuter train. It reminds me of how the San Diego Trolley in my home city has shipped various retired U2 and SD-100 trolleys to Argentina for use on the _Metrotranvia_ _Mendoza_ (which is, essentially, a North American light rail line transplanted into South America). Thanks for the video!
I heard. I actually made a video covering that in an early episode of Train Facts back in the summer of 2021, after someone pointed it out to me after I finished the American Railroad Iceberg with Seanoard Railfan.
You forgot one big moment for November 2024 recently: The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is seeking to restore Western Maryland Class K-2 202. It’s the only preserved Mainline WM Steam locomotive. And many Western Maryland fans are excited to see the last Western Maryland steam engine find new life in its old home after decades as a static exhibition in the elements.
@@LJRailfan-Gamer_07. I've been hearing back and forth info as to whether that engine was going to be restored or in danger of being scrapped, so I left it out due to not getting enough clear info at the time.
Quite excited to see C&O 614 finally being restored to operation by 2026 which is the same year that Reading 2100 is also being restored to operation, i can sense a big event happening for 21st Century Steam.
Caltrain still doesn't run Stadler FLIRTs, those are single level trainsets. They are still Stadler KISS sets. Commented the same thing last time you talked about Caltrain.
My sincerest apologies, although I usually have two explanations if an article is not included in the Periodical: 1. No article on the event is given, as Twitter posts alone are often not enough for news worthy stories (likely due to photo perms since I don't have a twitter). 2. The article might be considered too local or not high enough priority when compared to other stories that are being covered around the world, as simple repaints have been given less priority over the year in order to keep the Peroodical at a decent length.
Kinda interesting NJT released the "sexiest" transportation modes alive. Also, the SS United States has been confirmed to be "impossible" to preserve, so the chances of the preservation has gone even lower to her lowest limits. Officially starting a new era of American boat transportation as there will be no "American-made" ocean liner left.
Quick correction on congestion pricing in NYC: it is 60th street AND below, I know this because my dads garage is on 60th street and he won’t stop complaining about how the MTA “lied” to him lol
Yk, it's great that Peru bought 19 of Caltrans's F40s, but they had 20, so.... Why not buy the other one, I wonder? As for the hydrogen multiple unit, I don't think hydrogen is a good idea, and it's an even worse idea converting one from an EMU and not a DMU
I believe one of the other F40s was listed for sale individually on Caltrain's website, so I assume the other one was purchased by the Southern California Railway Museum.
The remaining F40 I presume was #919 which got into a collision in 2022. It is still damaged as of right now although according to Coasterfan2105, the SCRM is hoping to get their hands on it. I’m afraid it may be scrapped because of the damage on its nose seems pretty severe.
@ interesting being that’s it’s frame, nose, cab, control stands, headlights, primemover, and trucks are badly burned and twisted but people have resorted worse (I was a volunteer at the Greenbay railroad museum back in 2021 and 2022 gave me something to do during COVID) as I feel that it is possible
One of the rare times the Periodical comes out on the actual first day of the month.
Over the years, it's been more so 3/4ths, or 2/3rds on the 1st of the month. It depends on what I have going on outside of the channel.
@@Pensyfan19Indeed.

Well, if they want some higher tier emissions locomotives. Atleast there's no tier 4 restrictions unlike the US

Midwest overland is also looking into getting a LV U23B!
Also UP is corporately the Rio Grande, see Hyces video!

5:04 thanks for mentioning that!
Finally, a new episode!
Here are some things you forgot about :
WMSR #539 & the 20th anniversary of the Polar Express.

2026 is the Cosmetic completion right cuz there is no way in hell they’re about to speedrun a restoration throughout 2025 💀
Man, forget an r/pointless nobody, we need an r/pointless skull emoji.

Sorry about that. Every other article I covered that mentioned Stalder talked about the FLIRT, so it's likely just force of habit.
i thought all but one of the caltrain F40s were going to peru not all of them bc i do want atleast ONE to stay in the states
3:58 welp im depressed now
You forgot to add that WES commuter rail 2001 was repainted after i gave you all that info on it. How could you?

Because I am a pedant, I am now going to list two pronunciation mistakes.

5:58 Oh and for the SECOND time, they are KISSes, not FLIRTs.

The thing is 19 of 20 where sold the question is what will happen to 919?
@JustATeenageRailfan from what I heard, SCRM is trying to get their hands on it, even though it's a damaged unit.

Its funny that peru was a Spanish project i did
