Hi Mr. PeePaw friend, how are you?
I've a Sigma-II here that only goes into alarm when plugged in the machine.
In the bench the goddamned works like a swiss clock.
I believe you're the same as me, as we both dive in deeper in electronics, there comes a time when the clients just send us the most difficult jobs haha...
I even remember your expression in my mind when there comes an easy job "well, life is throwing a bone to me at least" hahaha...
    Thank you for the video!
    God bless.

Hello Mr Riggs, we have had some tough times hadn't we. I hate those things that come into the shop and work. But go back to the customer and fail. It makes me want to walk off into the woods and live with the deer, racoon, and possum. And never see another electronic device ever again. HaHa. Thank you for being there with us. You are a great man.

Hi! 1st time visitor.. Thank you for the ride-along. It was like I was your neighbor and I could watch.. but I'd have to keep my trap shut :O) Could that IGBT (a new term for me) be buried any deeper? Shame it couldn't have been designed onto the bottom. About another 1/16 of a inch farther and would have been there.. However that cast base was beautiful. The whole thing looked to be so well made. Classic HQ design. A serious workhorse. BTW, Tommy needed some screen time. aka More CAT. Also, nice "scene transition". I seriously thought the camera had fallen over., twice! p.s. Heard the back ground music. Here is a website that I'm sure you would like (it's been my favorite for years) radio.garden Just enter it into your browser as shown. Cheers from So. CA, 3rd House On the Right.

Hello, and thank you for stopping by and watching one of my videos. I am certain that your horse broke down as you were trying to get out of my county. HaHa. But either way I hope you learned a tad bit :) I have many videos of my work and life. Please if you can, check them out also. You will get to see what Tommy the shop cat looks like :) My oldest brother crossed the mississippi on his way to Vietnam way back when. And when on his return home, stayed in California. He found himself a pretty girl out there and settled down. Thank you again for stopping by :) I hope you and your family are doing well :)

@Peepaw McDonald Hello, great content you offer! So after me having purchased ebay Yaskawa AC servo drives that only last a few weeks / months and then me resorting to randomly , mixing and matching all the boards and components to keep the machine running. So now after me watching your videos I finally decided to see if I cant find what the actually issues are. Already from your videos, I have found that two of the 3 units I have have shorted IGBT modules! One of the modules, in a third drive tests ok, so I'll try and rebuild around that good IGBT module.
Now I guess I should see if the firing circuits are ok? The particular drive I have here is a Yaskawa CACR-SR20BB1BF. Its on the mills Z axis and works harder that the other axis. The Z axis servo is much much bigger that the other axis and has a brake.
Any tips would be appreciated. I'll make a video of my work as a reference.
    Cheers Paul (Australia)

Hello, thank you for stopping by and watching one of my videos. You are absolutely correct about testing the firing channels for proper function. The problem with this drive is that if you do not have the motor feedback connected the the drive. The drive will trip on A.C2 alarm "Encoder phase alarm". And the drive will not sequence through U, V, and W. Thus no firing pulses on the gates. But in the next video, I will show us how to test the gate firing channels for serviceability one firing channel at a time. Thank you again for watching out for me :)

@@PeepawMcDonald respected sir i am very happy and this a good day for me. you did reply to me thanks sir more thanks
sir i am deeply following your instruction if i do not connect encoder or resolver motor thermal etc with servo drive then during initializing that make the error.sir please you make video on the simple V.F.D .IGBT correct proper gate firing pulses .when i do new iGBT install .that will be no not never damage...
      thanks
