    First you can alwas try to power up the control board just using 39 (GND) and 59 (+24VDC) pins on ocnnector. In most cases - just like on this one in video with damaged power board - it will power up the board to make us able download parameters

    Nice explanation with the demonstration. I usually just plug the control card in the other Power Module and Turn the Drive with 24VDC only to get the parameters. Also in case if I don't have one, then again just power up the control card from the front connectors instead of 50Pin complex powering up method.

    Thank you so much for the video. I made a 50-pin connector and soldered a DC-DC converter from 24VDC to 5VDC. I placed the entire structure in a box and brought out 2 power wires. I have it approached EVS9326-ES. What other inverter models does it fit?

    Peepaw, thank you for your videos. I have the same inverter which randomly produces LU message. Do you know which pin of X50 connector is used for DC bus voltage reading?

  • @abdoon1989
    @abdoon1989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can connect only the 24V (pins 9,10 and 11,12) as you described in the video.
    The 5V will be supplied by the secondary power supply on this control board. Unless the power supply on this board is not functional.

    Nice to see you working on this drive, I repair many of these around here, very good equipment.

      I doing well. I hope you and yours are having a good day. I like working on the Lenze Servo Drives too. I had one though that had a shorted IGBT. Two of the Gate Firing Channels was destroyed when the short circuit energy shot back through the Gates. I changed all the shorted smd diodes, zener diodes. transistors. And burnt open resistors. And installed a new IGBT power module.

    • @PeepawMcDonald
      @PeepawMcDonald  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Then I powered up the drive, and ran the servo motor good. After an hours run time, the IGBT power module exploded again. With the same two Gate Firing Channels blown apart. So I must have missed something in the repaired Gate Firing Channels. Took me two weeks to get over that one failed repair. HaHa. It's like having one die on the operating table. Takes awhile to feel good again.

      @@PeepawMcDonald 9327 and above gate's circuitry have that tricky topology instead of simple gate drivers, where they fire just a pulse triggered by the 0611's edge instead of being turned on/off indefinitely until you keep the input on/off.
      I got an case some time ago where the 9328 got an gate's circuit blown, I changed everything, from 0611 to IGBT module on that gate, just to be sure nothing was going to fail later.
      But, as one said, life isn't easy haha...
      That drive went to the machine, after a couple of days it was vibrating the motor a lot.
      I got it back to my bench and discovered that it wasn't driving half cycle to one of the phases of the motor.
      It turned out to be an 8V1 zener a little off the value, I changed it and the drive worked like a charm.
      Back to machine again, it worked a couple of months, until one day it started vibrating again.
      Back to bench, I couldn't make it fail like in the machine.
      I put it on test so, and kept it running all the morning until it failed.
      After all it was one of that SMD capacitors that you can't know the value, it was going shorted when heated.
      I soldered it out and got another one from the gate next to it, measured the value and soldered two new capacitors to both of them.
      This drive is now 5 months running on the machine without even an stop to get cool.

      Now I'm with the first 9330 I ever see, here in my bench.
      This one is driving me nuts haha...
      This drive exploded for an gate failure, but due to the high current capacity, the explosion got spread.
      On the power board it have 3 power supplies, one to drive the electronics, one to the gates and one to drive the giant pre-charge relays.
      All this power supplies got shorted, I'm working right now on the electronics power supply, that from dead is now going all the way up to scary 54V (I'm very happy that I did tested it with my power resistor instead of the controller board haha).
      I wish I could share some photos of it with you, it's really amazing.
      Three 3844 power supplies just for the power board, and the usual one on the controller board.

    Hey, Peepaw! I appreciate the time you take to make and post these videos. You've taught me a few things about working with servo drives. Since I'm an independent tech, I get a lot of my continuing education on TH-cam, and by doing labs in my shop with used equipment. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a question about an issue a customer of mine reported to me. He said that when they shut down the plant over the weekend, the Lenze drive no longer retains it's position, like it used to. My first thought is that there must be volatile memory, like a PLC, and there is possibly a capacitor that is failing. It's a 9300 series drive, like the one in your video. If that's the case, I'm thinking they should find a replacement that I can swap out, and then replace all of the electrolytic capacitors on control board of the old drive. What are your thoughts?

    • @PeepawMcDonald
      @PeepawMcDonald  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Mr Hooey, I hope that you are having a great day. The absolute position of the servo system is backed up by a battery that is in the servo motor. If you remove the rear cover of the Lenze servo motor. You will see the backup battery. The backup battery inside the motor has probably died. I hope that I have given you the correct answer for you malfunction. As we all know things are different from one thing to another. Please enjoy the time with your family. And thank you very much for stopping by:)

      Hello Mr Hooey, I am so sorry. I confused my self between Lenze and Indramat. It is the Indramat servo motor that has the backup battery in the motor. My son died recently. And my mind is a bit muddled. Again I am sorry to err with the answer.

    Hi PeePaw. I'm a tech that's worked on hundreds of these things. Have you ever figured out the secret of the control board that has no communication with GDC (not counting the obvious defective capacitors that are always found)? Once or twice, out of probably 50, I got lucky replacing the two tiny SMD optocouplers that are right next to the Lecom connector, but I have a pile of dead control boards and thought I'd ask if you know something I don't. Good video!

      Hello Sir, I am not sure how old this servo drive is. I saw a 1993 date code on one of the surface mount IC's. But from how good the servo drive looks, I don't think that is the true age. The PDF Manuals for this servo drive have a published date of 2002. That sounds more truer than 1993. If I can pin the age of the servo drive down to a closer year, I will let you know. Thank you very much for stopping by. I hope that you and your family are having a good day.
