The figurine might be the point. There is a pricing scheme called anchoring. The idea is that if you want to sell product A, you can "manufacture" product B, which is only slightly better, but way way way more expensive. Now - people will complain about the ridiculousness of product B and product A will seem "reasonable" in comparison. So I wouldnt be surprised if the lower level bundles / physical product that is cheaper were their intended main money makers.

They are milking Chinese rich kids, that's mostly it. At one point in my career I had a lot of insight into spending habits of rich Chinese migrants and their kids and those teens and 20-something CEO-born people living in CA, HK or Singapore could drop an equivalent of a house price in Irvine on mobile games in a month.
It's a totally different world and Chinese mobile market already adapted to it - Riot is mostly catching up. It isn't aimed at Western market at all.
Too bad league isn't as popular in Japan, because they could have milked the Japanese even harder. Trust me, if you think Chinese spends like crazy, you definitely haven't seen the Japanese yet and have no idea how crazy they can be. FGO players in Japan would be a classic example.
@@laisensei6984 riot did everything in their power to ensure league does not succeed at any stage of it's lifecycle. It's honestly impressive how big league is in spite of riots incompetence. Also chinese are bigger whales, japan might be able to put up a good fight if you measure it per capita.
Vanguard got me to quit this game, and not a single thing that's happened since has made me regret that decision.

14:50 Same for Rome:Total War. They gave you a huge map you could unfold and have the whole map laid out in front of you and all the tech trees on the back. I did a world conquer and played over 200 hours and it was 30 EUR which was a lot for a kid but worth every penny

Richard I have a funny story regarding buying RP in league, where I live is exempt from VAT so back in the day I knew someone who sent riot a ticket regarding it and got all the vat money back from them on RP he had bought, not long after I was going to do the same but they changed their ToS in a way where you can't do that anymore. Is the general consensus on Star Citizen that it's never coming out? I've seen the news about the game, but it's only ever been about the cash shop. How long have they put it as a beta/demo build?
@Nykryian they've raised over $600 million and the game has been in alpha, not even beta, for about 5 years at this point.
Some of the technology is impressive, but they still don't have anything that resembles a video game, at this point.
Star Citizen is one of the weirdest video game phenomena out there. It's a second job you spend hundreds if not thousands of bucks on and the majority of content is hypothetical pOTeNtiaL.

Things I wasn't expecting to hear was a brief sidetrack into one of my favorite games. Caesar 3 is the best. Still holds up, runs perfectly fine with bug fixes with the Julius open source mod.

everyone wants the price point of CS skins but they fail to realize that the PLAYERBASE sets the price of those skins, not Valve.
They influence prices with pull rates...
Valve also does untradable skins via Dota 2 Compendiums... I think Wind Ranger arcana had a level 1 to unlock price for its battle pass of like $220 or something. Though I am sitting on extra International chests that are up to a whopping 75 cents each because I figured I could make a few dollars eventually this way.

@@a.d2019 think about OG knife patterns, basically only good ones are fade and slaughter, webs, so they influence it with adding unliked patterns to further dilute the pool of nice ones. Demand matters but they take the ones they know have high demand and reduce supply further.

Imagine for a second, that in honour of Faker, they made the base version of the skin free for all. a skin that everyone can enjoy regardless of disposable income, something that would pay tribute to his legacy without being an outright cashgrab, and i get there still needs to be a monetisation incentive for Riot because we must always feed Tencent so they can afford to give money to the CCP, because they can't just be giving everything away so then maybe there are tiers of upgrades available that you could buy to support faker (not the region, not his org, The man himself).
Not perfect still but at least its inclusive and celebrates his legacy and people can spend more if they want.
This is the shittiest way to do a hall of fame, one a year to promote a hella expensive bundle. It relies on every future entry being someone they can profit off, aint no way we're getting a special blitzcrank skin for Madlife, no-ones buying that so he's never going in the HoF despite deserving it. Doublelift is a twat but his legacy in NA 100% earns him a place, but no way is he getting one, no-one would buy the skin now.
