@@canonicallygod8782 Hi, Icelander here :) It actually doesn't have any specific idiom meaning, it just means winter. However, in the context of the song and story, I'm fairly certain winter refers to Irumyuui and Faputa. Winters can be quite harsh in Iceland (and just in general tbh) and the ''Winter's bloom'' is definitely referring to something that can flourish despite the harshness, kind of like how Irumyuui became a haven for the travelers and saved them from the desperate situation they were in. Also winter's bloom reminds me of the Icelandic word ''Frostrós'' (translated literally to frost rose and pronounced the same way, funny how languages are like that sometimes) which is a word for snowflake, which might refer to Faputa because she kiiiinda resembles a snowflake, with both her overall shape and white fur, but maybe I'm stretching it with this one. The line ''Winter I welcome you'' might refer to how all the villagers celebrated when Faputa entered the village, not knowing of the annihilation she would bring them, but later welcoming it by becoming part of her (btw a more literal translation would be ''Winter I celebrate you'', but has the same meaning as ''I welcome you''). However the line ''Where no one sees'' that comes directly after leads me to believe that this lyric is meant to be specifically Vueko wanting to see Faputa. Also a some notes on the translation: At 3:00 Ég finn ekki frið, því þið eigið hlut í mér Hyldýpið kallar eftir mér Would translate more accurately to: I can't find peace because part of me belongs to you(plural) - (literally translated to ''because you own a part of me'', but that doesn't sound as nice) The abyss calls to me And VERY minor at 4:20 Í vökunætur sjó mun hún bíða mín, í ró Would be: In the sea of the waking night - (the word ''Vökunótt'' is a compound word of waking night, as in a night where you are awake, so it doesn't really have a nice direct translation) she will wait for me, - (put as a question in the video, but it is actually a statement) in peace Again this part is very minor, but I figured I might add this since ''the sea of the waking night'' reminds me of the darkness beneath the village where Vueko waited all those years for someone to show up for her. But all in all pretty nice translation, it does a pretty good job at getting the meaning across, which is arguably more important than specific words :) Anyways, sorry for dropping an entire essay on you, didn't mean to make it this long, but I just finished the season and haven't been able to get it out of my head, along with this song since I was a bit surprised to suddenly hear Icelandic at the end of the show.
@@Ryerfthat was so well put. Holy shit. I enjoyed that read very much! Adds so much more to the song and the anime as a whole... Holy crap..... I don't think I ever enjoyed myself as much as I did watching this masterpiece. Thank you for your explanation. Really adds to my feelings and experience with this show. I wonder why they picked Icelandic for the alt voice
If your teacher didn't like it then she probably need to watch made in abyss first. But damn I love this so much and please do share more of your school assignments because damn this is so good, and ty for sharing this amazing work of yours.
Wonderful work! I love the translation from Icelandic, as I had no idea what those parts were saying. The song is quite beautiful especially with visuals like these.
thanks for the translation from Icelandic. but do you have any idea what "winter"means, does it have an idiom meaning?
I'm not a native Icelandic speaker, so I'm not sure. I'd have to ask someone who's from over there but I do have the feeling that it does.

At 3:00
Ég finn ekki frið,
því þið eigið hlut í mér
Hyldýpið kallar eftir mér
Would translate more accurately to:
I can't find peace
because part of me belongs to you(plural) - (literally translated to ''because you own a part of me'', but that doesn't sound as nice)
The abyss calls to me
And VERY minor at 4:20
Í vökunætur sjó
mun hún bíða mín,
í ró
Would be:
In the sea of the waking night - (the word ''Vökunótt'' is a compound word of waking night, as in a night where you are awake, so it doesn't really have a nice direct translation)
she will wait for me, - (put as a question in the video, but it is actually a statement)

I didn't expect this video to reach 10k views, thank you!
This was a school assigment that the teacher liked a lot so I wanted to share it.
you should keep doing them, I really love the anime ans how the song is perfect with the images
You chose the scenes perfectly and they fit perfectly with the music.

I really love the choice of showing the Star Compass at the beginning, very mysterious and foreboding.
The true villain of the series. The thing sometimes that is so simple, delicate and pretty that sends people to the doom. Inside the abyss
Made in abyss music just hits different
I was thinking the exact same thing!
ヴェコがイルミューイに向けた歌だと思う。
一番最後の「目覚めの夜の海で 彼女は私を待ってくれる」は魂の解放の先の事を指していると思うので、「彼女」とはヴェコかイルミューイを指すと思う。
また、「私」については、重力があり、黄金の都市を目指していたガンジャ隊の誰かだと思う。
また物語中で命を失う順番は、イルミューイ->村人->ヴェコなので。
I swear i cant stop sobbing, I dont know why this is so good i love it too much im about to cry
Just proposed to my girlfriend using the song from this video. She said yes and we're getting married next year. Thanks for your upload ☺️
