Thanks yes I really do mean to do that. I’ve got Lasers and Sixsiders which is a light sci if that I’m thinking about (but which won’t end up next). Do you have any suggestions of rule sets for me to examine?

Really great video, Geek Gamers! I hadn't played 4AM yet, but your play of it got me to roll a party last night. Char Traits and Milestones were introduced in Wayfarers & Adventurers (and skills in 4A Abyss). I'm real glad they're just apart of the normal character creation in 4am. And you demonstrated really well how I think CT's and Milestones were meant to played- as backstory engines for your pcs. For 4ad I always do it as the trait represents what makes this character unique, but the ms represents in my games HOW my character acquired their character trait- I always tie it to his/her backstory. So it becomes my explanation as to why said trait exists but also my character's narrative goal (and maybe how perusing said goal relates to how the party meets up initially?). I also enjoyed how you wove a story through the playthrough trying to explain how each of the locations fit into the narrative. Would also enjoy more explanation of how to play the game.
I also saw you mentioned looking into Alone Against Fear (I have only skimmed it). In case you weren't aware, its the Solo version of 4AD- one hero. I think the plan is to have them genre specific. So the next one will be a solo Sci-Fi themed book and I think a superhero solo book is set to come out too.
My favorite supplement for 4ad thus far is Caverns of Chaos- its more of a Cthulhu/chaos themed dungeon for 3-5th level parties. It also comes with 6 missions that add sort of a narrative for play and they're pretty easy to string together into one 6-part campaign. You may be interested in it too...
Anyway, looking forward to part 2 of mars and any other creative usage of Ganasha Games in your soloplays (one of your vids, the Minotaur museum or something?, I saw you used tables from the Gold Song of Heroes book which I thought was pretty novel). I played ASoBaH for the first time this summer. Got really intrigued on how one can take miniature combat rules and incorporate that into solo rpg play as maybe combat AI but kind of got stuck on how to merge solo rpg and miniatures combat together as miniatures gaming is so NEW to me...

    • @GeekGamers01

I agree that merging miniature rules and RPG rules is intriguing and I share your challenges with not being very familiar with miniatures. I did a few vids on Frostgrave that revealed my lack of experience with those kinds of rulesets. But the lighter mini rules are indeed conducive and I did do songs of Blades and something or other and some other ruleset in that series (but right now I can't remember which vid that was). I *think* I paired it with some RPG something but truly can't recall. (Too many vids on the channel, I'm afraid.)
Thanks for commenting and sharing the work you are doing. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid.

@@GeekGamers01 Was this the vid you were referencing, the 28 min mark, or is there another vid that you delved further in SOBAH? th-cam.com/video/_klHipPWc_g/w-d-xo.html
This summer was my first time playing a minis game- and most of my summer gaming was that and not solo rpging. I plan to get back into solo rpging, but the idea was intriguing because I saw the initiative mechanic in the advanced rules as kind leaning towards enemy AI for battles and maybe helping to create narrative for battle instead of just opening up a rpg ruleset and just rolling dice. I haven't playtested yet how to work in movement inside of a dungeon room -- and how to convert minis scale (on a battle field) with scale from lets say 3rd/4th e D&D - where square movement is critical. But maybe what I need to do is just get "Scale" and "movement" out to of the way and just use the rulers for only moving in straight lines. And speaking of sharing work, I attempted to do that overworld travel on Runebound 2 overland board maps, but then I realized that there was a lot of rules on traveling in snow, desert, sea and just each board game with its own "moving pieces" to keep track of. It had been years since I played, so all that was lost and I didnt' really want to read 5 different rule books. I also really couldn't find a good vid that kind of went over the overland travel rules or an online file that explained the gist. The only RB 2e piece I'm missing now is Midnight, otherwise my set is complete. So it would be nice to figure out a way to combine all expansions together to create a large overmap travel game but maybe thats too much of a big dream? Anyway thanks for responding and being a channel where said ideas can be generated and explored.

@@Joshuadmathews I don't recall mentioning a vid here and didn't see it at 28 min...
As to Runebound, etc: part of what makes what I do "work" (or seem to work) is my convenient picking and choosing among which rules I will follow, and which I won't. I'm also operating a level of detail much less than what you're describing here...
And I, too, lack Midnight in the Runebound world. I hope to get my hands on that some day. Putting together all the Runebound maps at once would be epic indeed!

For those looking for a change from "fantasy" this is an easy pick up and rewarding solo experience. If you get a chance may I suggest you also check out Alone against Fear, which is the FAD take on the horror/lovecraftian genre, it scratches an itch

This looks like fun. I've been playing Four Against Darkness, which I enjoy, but I also like the idea of a science fiction system. (Ironsworn: Starforged is awesome but more complex in terms of making your narrative. Sometimes I want that and sometimes I want simple.)

    • @GeekGamers01

It is really fun... I just had it put again in fact. It is a super bummer that they designer abandoned it... there is so much more that can be done in this setting and with these rules. Still the song or book gives lots of playtime. I highly recommend it if you crave a light thematic solo space rpg experience

Wow!! That's the Starfall play map on the table. I still have that game in my attic. Thanks for the review, I've been hesitating, but this has tipped the balance. Seems to be quite a bit of book keeping. I'll give it a try.

It was ok, it came out in the early days of space management/ wargames. Rules weren't as clear as they could have been, not to mention the inch windy tokens. Still not too bad for the time.

    • @GeekGamers01

Starfall (1979), published by Yaquinto Games. It didn't read on camera as well as I had hoped. The map itself is a lush bluish-black with the vary subtle galaxy--quite the printing feat for that decade. Definitely one of my very best game maps.

The author of this whole series has great ideas and a vision, but he has no talent for writing consistent and comprehensible rulebooks and on top the proof reading and QA is very bad to non existant. Still, I find these games to be very fun.
