We all know a real cat wouldn't be nearly so cooperative. Or punctual. Yeah, it could get some stuff done (and let's be honest, this cat demonstrates some top-level intelligence), but it'd take its time.
Well I say that's a part of its charm. Cuz it *is* a game where you are a cat. Knocking shit down and meowing around but it's that simplicity that makes it.
Well, maybe, but I would say that this is biggest reason most people bought AND liked the game, like, this game wouldn't have done nearly as well, if, instead of a cat, you played as a human.

That moment when you realize that cats do the slow blink when they love trust someone... And the cat did that at the very end. Just looks straight at the player, and gives a slow blink before walking off. AS IF MY HEART COULDN'T BE ANY MORE EMOTIONAL.
I just knew by how Shen was so excited about being a cat that the falling off the pipe scene would hit that much harder. Also Shen's reactions to everything is such a good dopamine boost.
Hearing Shen's love about overgrown dystopias honestly makes me with there were more soft apocalypses in media. Basically it's a story where the world has gone to shit, but things are progressively getting better. Something that's a bit more hopeful, especially if nature is already starting to come back.

This was a treat to play, and it was a treat to watch Shen experience it, both on the stream vod and now this. It really is amazing what the creators did - they lured us all in with an adorable cat, and then they told us an incredible dystopian story that actually had nothing to do with the cat, while at the same time having the cat play such an important role (as any self-respecting feline would) in opening the city and bringing that story to its close. I am infinitely curious to see this studio's next game.
Stray has immaculate vibes. The music and aesthetic go together incredibly well, and the animation work done for the main cat is so well done. It's not a perfect game, but it's up there for my game of the year because it hits all the notes it tries to, doesn't thrust a lot of gimmicks in for the sake of it, and doesn't outstay it's welcome. Plus, the ending is so bittersweet and befitting of the story.
I’ve said it elsewhere, but a genius side effect of making the main character a cat is that it’s 100% in-character for you to just go off and ignore the main quest at any time for any reason.

One of the few minor complaints I have after seeing this game is that you couldn’t choose one of the cats you hang out with at first to play as, as opposed to just the orange cat you get. Add a little flavor to the choices you have in game. Edit: (ya’ll got very good points. I revoke my complaint about it. All the same it’s cool to see all the different opinions.)
Actually this would have made Stray take longer and would have led to a worse experience in game with the complaint of "I can't see the cat that well". While I agree with the sentiment of your comment/statement, I can't fully support the stance you're taking. Imagine if the cat was all black? How hard would it be to see in the dark areas? Game design isn't just the modes and graphics that are shown, area design is important as well. Everything you see in any game like Stray, or any game for that matter, takes time and alot of thought to make look appealing to the eye. Color theory goes into it too, shapes and ideas human find appealing are used heavily. Please appreciate what we have gotten, and if something is missing or wrong request it politely. Don't look at what little is missing, and be upset. Look at what we have, and rejoice.
fun fact! there is a persona 5 reference in the game! in midtown there is a bot called sojiro, and he talks about having the best cafe around. also b/12 is still alive! only the drone was destroyed , he is back in the network. you see it in the ending
the eyes weren't effected by the 'deflumixer' UV light, so they are still there even though the roof is now open. just to give you more nightmares about them, they don't disappear in the daylight.
The area you find it in is a series of rooms with no clear ceiling openings. That thing might be confined to that area, but it could still be a problem considering it’s something like a Zurk hive mind.

I think this is the first time I've seen someone do the chase sequence at around 31:00 and not just have the barrel stuck to the front of the cart the whole time
I like how the lil' goblins that chase you are just snarks and headcrabs combined into one. I find it very funny, and not in a "wow, devs, get some original ideas!" sorta way, but it's just such a weird thing to put in a cute cat game.

I think someone did the math for the layout of the city and apparently the place where you started out with your cat friends is *really* close to where the MC cat goes offscreen at the end

The thing about the eyes is that they'd probably be just as scary to a cat as they are to you. Cats see eye contact as a threat and they especially dislike something looking down on them as that means that thing has the high ground. So to a cat big giant eyes staring at it from all over would be a nightmare.
I think there's something very poweful about the fact that the player never truly get to see world outside of the walls. Especially in that last scene, where the cat gives us one last look before disappearing from view, while we watch from afar, left behind in the ruins of the world we humans created.
The cat based puns being used for achievements is like, one of the best parts of the game for me :)

The intro to this game is both immensely wholesome and absolutely soul crushing.

It's possible the Defluxinator 5000 wasn't strong enough in the Lil robot body to melt them, but the actual sun might do it.
