I take a less precise approach to measuring windscreen wiper runout. Roll down the workshop shutter enough to spot weld the wipers to it (a good solid mounting point). Turn the wipers on and measure the suspension sag, side to side and back to front. This can tell you, to a reasonable level of accuracy, that you've wasted another afternoon procrastinating.

Thanks for the followup about screws. My bike project came out great. I mounted a 2inch thick cooler to it by 4 metric star headed bolts. Now I can put it on and off toollessly. Maybe even thinking of mounting a bearing on there to pull a trailer.
After seeing that 3rd hand, I went a made one almost identical to ot with a sliding weight, and i have to say i have found it to be extremely useful. A brilliant idea. Thanks
Maybe make it with a spring between the screw part and the knurled wheel. That is how a fixed carburettor on a nitro RC engine can be adjusted... The spring will allow you to turn the screw but will bend under side load, keeping screw and carburettor in one piece.
Love a Noga stand, I wouldn’t be without one. The only problem I have ever had was the screw joint between the top ball pivot and the fine adjustment. A small amount of loctite red and all was good.

My noga was definitely one of my best purchases. I'm no longer working on lathes so I don't use it much anymore since I transferred to the VMC's I work on now unless I'm setting up a job on the indexer.

Hey Tony, ever since you made the video on the minilathe, it grew on me. Those are available where I live (Argentina), but they aren't much cheaper than some alternatives that seem better. Have you considered making a video on what you'd look for on a first hobby lathe? I bet you've made more than a few people more willing to spend money on something they don't even know what they'll use for than me. Beyond the dimensions of whatever it can turn, that is has metal gears, RPM range and that it can actually thread, I don't have a clue what to look for.
TOT, several years ago at work I made some ali front brake adjusting bolts, idle screws, spindle nuts and gas tank caps for Gas gas trials bikes. I don't know if they will fit your bike but if you're interested let me know. P.S you were spot on as my fixed beam knob broke off after I'd touched it too much!
I will go ahead and assume that was the kittens mother in the begging. And that is so important. I learned the hard way how important it is for kittens younger that 2 months to get their mothers milk. Don't forget the stick shift is a different spec than the automatic. Been there done that.
Look out for HubNut channel - had serious run out on his 2CV wipers that the crank driving one of them could go over-centre and jam the blades!
