Lack of level scaling (the poorly crafted overworld, the empty souless overworld, lack of any good meaningful infinite gym leader rematches that are as difficult as bdsp’s gym leader rematches, bare bones post game compared to bdsp’s is what holds sv back by a lot, outside of its good story and character the game still suffered because the region was awful, heck even x and y has a better region and towns then SV, you can’t even enter any of the buildings or houses. My experience with 3DS-Pokemon-Games: When the announcement for Pokemon X and Y was released in January 2013, was 2 Years in the second coming of playing Pokemon Games again with Soul Silver and Black 2. The Reveal literally got me in a new Pokemon Hype through and through, so I bought a used 3DS on Ebay for this game and I decided to play all the games that I didn't play (Black/White and Gen 4 Mainline Games) also tried to get the older games (could only get Firered and Ruby, Blue was still till today there) to play it again. I was 21 at that time. Until Release I literally saw every announcement what has to do with Gen 6. When X and Y was released, I got it weeks later after the Release. X and Y where beautiful, but the Games were too easy (what everybody knows, also the storyline was kinda disappointing. However I still had fun, I spend hundreds of hours with Y because I know a lot of guys and gals who played it as well because my active time where was on almost monthly on a little convention. So I got into compepetive gaming for a while. Thanks to X and Y, Breeding Compepetive Pokemon became a lot easier. ORAS was the first game I ever pre-ordered. At that time I was in Job Qualification Training and I had some colleagues that were also into Pokemon. So the hype was still at that time. ORAS was also a fun game to play and the Delta episode was interesting because of Zinnia and the fact that you can catch a Deoxys. Going to Gen 7 and I felt that the Pokemon Hype in my surrounding died down. I still was hyped for the games but I tried to avoid all the announcement aside from a few. However the Rumors and leaks made it difficult to avoid it. After playing The Gen 7 games they became one of my favourite games (Top 3) in become. Sun and Moon had a decent story, so I didn't mind the long dialoques at all (Aside from the long tutorial). USUM was still the better game because of the sidequests and post game content. These games felt the most alive for me. Incineroar became my favourite pokemon of all time because it is a Wrestling Tiger that is a Heel with the Fire/Dark typing. In Conclusion it was a Interesting time for me being a Pokemon fan.

The list you show around 10:30 that you claim is mostly psychic types? It's 98 pokemon and 10 of them are listed as Psychic. So like 10%, how is that mostly or even an outrageous amount?
Genwunner here.. Played EVERY mainline Pokemon game up until USUM. I felt dirty and cheated buying Ultra Sun and played through it to realise it was in No Way a sequel or a definitive edition of it's predecessor. Having said that, I do replay Alola quite a bit due to the gorgeous aesthetics of the islands (though quite small islands). And the 'sequels' would've benefited from a 5yr time jump, gym badges as well as island trials, a 5th island while expanding the previous 4 with more additions and towns. While I did like Kalos, it's my least played 3DS game. I think Kalos provided the last best looking Pokemon. Omega Ruby has Dexnav and Soar... Elite!! Haven't bought or played pokemon since.
The knock on Gen 5 is the Pokemon and Pokedex. Since so many new Pokemon were introduced, there were a lot of duds. Since we were locked into only using these new Pokemon, I think it caused a disconnect with the fanbase. Personally, I struggled to find new favorites at the time as well. Now that we’ve had a lot of time with these Pokemon, some of them have grown on the fanbase. And with the decline in game qualify, we now look back on these games more fondly and appreciate them for what they did well
The more time goes by, the more i realize ORAS was the only 3ds pokemon game worth owning. X and Y was hype, but nowadays it's hard not to feel like it was unfinished. Gen 7 felt so goddamn slow (and that's coming from someone that loves JRPGs) Honestly the only good thing about gen 7 was lore and Lillie.
27:11 So this was actually story-related foreshadowing SuMo's alternating timelines by using Anabel and Looker: Anabel was washed into a different dimension, there are now 2 Lookers in the ORAS timeline. I still would've preferred the Battle Frontier tho it wouldn't surprise me if Game Freak tries to use this excuse again. This way, they can avoid recreating post-game content in remakes (Ingo missing due to PLA makes me worried they won't implement the subway in Gen 5 remakes, as they can always imply a connection between two games).
6:57 There really was a hidden art lost to time (at least with comics like that). Deadass. It just stopped with Sun/Moon lol. (Even then I think it kinda fell with Sun/Moon)
1:20 oh my God.... Finally! After ten thousand years someone on youtube has the balls to call out gen 6 as the beginning of the end! You have my respect. Unfortunate youll still buy the slop but thats your prerogative.
the 3DS era was the last Pokemon era where I felt that Game Freak actually put effort into their games The Switch Era has been not good to say the least SW/SH: Promising first step, but clearly undercooked across the board. BDSP: Remake of the wrong versions, was released in an unfinished state, severely undercooked. P:LA: Phenomenal first step with experimental gameplay S/V: The "Area Zero" portion is this game's only redeeming feature.
@diamond3838 hopefully gen 10 will give us another open world pokemon game,l like SV did, but less choppy , the graphics of sv reminded me of pokken and I really like that art style , sw style is ugly af
Bdsp is criminally underrated, sure it isn’t the “definitive” sinnoh experience but the difficult and challenging post game is a step above Swsh’s and SV’s post game. Heck bdsp is even better then sun and moon and x and y post game wise. The giratina superboss was definitely worth it, gym leader rematches in bdsp are the best they have ever been, battle tower is arguably more challenging then the original DP due to updated movepools, heck even gym leaders platinum teams in the post game have there moves updated. Shiny hunting gens 1-4 Pokémon was a treat and being able to access darkrai, shaymin and arceus and shiny hunt them is a step forward. I also really like the Pokémon contest rhythm mini game, was it better then the original Pokémon contest? Absolutely not but it was refreshing that they turned the mini game into a rhythm mini game and a unique experience. I haven’t even talked about the elite four rematches In this game lol. Bdsp also kept a lot of sinnoh’s well designed route exploration which better then the empty souless open world concept they’ve been trying to go for.
SV’s redeeming factor was its story/characters. The region is awful because of the jump to soulless empty open world, the post game was mid, gym leader rematch was not challenging and not infinite, a school setting is terrible, open world is a downgrade from the route based systems of gen 1-6 and has some of the worst designed towns due to the inability to enter any of the buildings in the game, the overworld was rushed and the region was awful. The only thing good about SV is it’s selection of new Pokémon designs and it’s characters and story holding it together. I’d stay argue black and white is drastically better because not only does it have a much better region and towns but it also has good story/characters.
@@Holy_Crusader those games were awful visually and gameplay wise. Not to mention you have to pay 60 dollars for a game filled with the exact same glitches as the original and low content. Game could’ve been a massive hit if done right. BDSP was a massive failure and that is a well known fact rather than an opinion lol. ORAS and HG/SS were definitely the dominant of the remakes.
My top 3 are Pokemon Oras, Pokemon black and white/Black and White 2(I love doing both together so i count them as 1) and my favorite of all Pokemon games is Pokemon Ultra Moon.
Pokémon 3rd is better than people give it credit for I know there flawed in some ways but just like every generation there something special to these games that make them still worth playing and fun to revisit plus ultra sun and moon are the best Pokémon games period.
Replaying x version right now and I realize it’s pretty shotty (what with the gameplay and despite being the game that introduced mega evolution, you don’t get the ones you really want until near the end of the game or it wasn’t made there at all) I still love it cause it was my second pokemon game after oras. I will love it either way.
I wish more people liked Popplio more. It's just a little seal!! How could you hate it. Younger me suffered the whims of people utterly shitting on my favourite starter 😭
I tried to get into Sun and Moon before the servers shut down, but the cutscenes and dialogue just went on and on and on and on that I dropped it after the second island 😫
yall are so whiny. Scarlet and violet is not that bad. Compared to half the garbage that gets put out there. If you actually played the game and used all of the quality of life mechanics they have implemented this gen. jeez I DONT PLAY POKEMON FOR THE GRAPHICS this is a company that every year gets told to go bigger. Coupled with gamers whining that they need to put out as much content as possible. The majority of the fans whined that ZA was talking an extra year. Even though this is what we wanted so they could make a more optimized game. Sword and shield also wasnt bad. Even when black and white came out yall said it was the end of the franchise. People are just fickle and whine about every thing.
ORAS was ran through the mud when it launched so was XY and now everyone has these rose colored glasses all of a sudden what? its just people being whiny
Mega Evolution was also the coolest thing in Digimon ever too many years before. Not that I'm one to think it's outright 'theft' just saying the inspiration has to be admitted, even if Gamefreak denies it. Though in japanese they were refer to "Mega Digimon" as "Ultimate" I imagine the language differences and respect for their competitor kept them from taking the idea sooner. Plus it was a big change to the formula at the time. I want mega Flygon so bad...
Genuinely don’t even want Gen5 remakes anymore, and it’s probably my favorite overall generation, because Gamefreak has shown time and again they just don’t have “it” anymore. Idk… I’m okay with my best memories with gen5 being with BW2 lol
Will you cover Mario 3ds titles, much like 3ds Pokemon titles, Mario 3ds titles are oftenly overlooked and overhated nowadays ever since Mario wonder came out.
1:20 I'd say the drop in quality started with BW (Although watching a bit more, seems you know many people thought the same), 5th gen overall wasn't very liked back when they released, and each generation after the quality kept getting worse. I'd say XY was decent (not bad, but not good, imo better than BW) and ORAS can arguably be called the best remakes, but every gen kept getting worse and worse. 7th gen was just plain awful (My biggest gripe with it was them replacing gyms with trials), 8th gen took away pokemon and stopped doing the "final" version and instead replaced it with stupid DLC instead. I do like 9th gen, but they're a bit of a mess in terms of framerate and some parts of maps looking like originated from a GameCube game and the crashes due to memory leak just made it worse, they also copied two of the worst parts of 8th gen, can't get every pokemon and DLC rather than a "final" version.

12:59 not to nitpick but was this exaggeration for story sake or are you misremembering? X and Y definitely released on a Saturday in the states
I may have just mixed up the timeline😭 my routine for all game releases growing up was the same so I just assumed xy was released on a friday also lol
the 3DS era was the last Pokemon era where I felt that Game Freak actually put effort into their games
The Switch Era has been not good to say the least
SW/SH: Promising first step, but clearly undercooked across the board.
BDSP: Remake of the wrong versions, was released in an unfinished state, severely undercooked.
P:LA: Phenomenal first step with experimental gameplay
S/V: The "Area Zero" portion is this game's only redeeming feature.
With the switch 2 I think things will progress much better
My top 3 are Pokemon Oras, Pokemon black and white/Black and White 2(I love doing both together so i count them as 1) and my favorite of all Pokemon games is Pokemon Ultra Moon.
delete this and post it later im busy
My bad
The alola games were some of the best and I will die on this hill
Pokémon 3rd is better than people give it credit for I know there flawed in some ways but just like every generation there something special to these games that make them still worth playing and fun to revisit plus ultra sun and moon are the best Pokémon games period.
i’ve been looking for a max moe foe style play through of a pokemon game
Anyone who thinks the decline started with gen 6 clearly didn't play gen 4
Aside from HGSS, I totally agree.
@@MoeChiller
I always consider remakes as their own thing. I.e. gen 3 = ruby, sapphire, emerald, gen 4 = diaper and platinum
I will not abide this gen 4 slander
Platinum was GOATED

I feel sorry for you.
I don’t remember a single name of a town in Kalos that except camphrier and I played it like 5 times
If SV just *worked* it'd objectively be the best mainline pokemon game, period.
Hi LaiyenZ hi hello! I’m in the sixth generation Pokédex LaiyenZ!
I wish more people liked Popplio more. It's just a little seal!! How could you hate it. Younger me suffered the whims of people utterly shitting on my favourite starter 😭
Pokemon white 2 was my first game then i got pokemon x
Do your ORAS still work?
I collect those Chinese knock off Pokémon action figures and I have 126/151 of the Kanto Pokémon. I feel like I have a mental illness
Trust me legends of Zaza will be good!
3:45 SAME LOL. Really only ever cared about the Pokémon announcements (Still do 😭).
LeBron 11s? This guy knows ball.
Nice video!
I tried to get into Sun and Moon before the servers shut down, but the cutscenes and dialogue just went on and on and on and on that I dropped it after the second island 😫
Is that a DMC 4 reference 19:52
Pokemon became president 2x😭💀😮💨
I love the 3ds and ds
yall are so whiny.
Agree 100%
my first pokemon game was pokemon sun and moon before playing the older gen😂
Im contemplating selling them. Are they worth having anymore seeing as how we can no longer trade pokemon, or do online activities on the 3DS??
Idk I'd keep them if i were you
If you have a modded 3DS, you can look forward to Pretendo updates. They're currently beta testing online for Pokemon XY.

Gah meng
Hi laiyenZ
ORAS seems to be the last great Pokémon game, even though Emerald should have been remade.
12:06 funny you say that because some people say frogadier is ugly
I hope legends za saves pokemon😥
I been tryna get geeked all night I been pouring the rick with the sprite
Genuinely don’t even want Gen5 remakes anymore, and it’s probably my favorite overall generation, because Gamefreak has shown time and again they just don’t have “it” anymore. Idk… I’m okay with my best memories with gen5 being with BW2 lol
Festival plaza is cool
Will you cover Mario 3ds titles, much like 3ds Pokemon titles, Mario 3ds titles are oftenly overlooked and overhated nowadays ever since Mario wonder came out.
LAIYENZ I just boUGHT A 2DS WHAT AND IM GONNA MOD IT WHAT GAME DO YOU WANT ME TO GET? I am an amazing FAN
Sun moon is GOAT😊
USUM are the most complete Pokemon games to date….
i got 4 badges in pokemon x
Laiyenz do you think you can be the very best
yes
X was my first pokemon game exepct pokemon park for the wii
