Their original music is something and their live performance is something else. One is really constructed and well produced, other is distorted and rushed. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way but really bad performance.
Well, it's supposed to be this way, it's a rock band after all, not a classic orchestra and a rock band live is expected to sound raw, hard and fast, somewhat improvised - it's where all the fun is. Albums are for listening to melodies and lyrics, gigs are for jumping around to the rhythm and having the ball. I attended each of their performances in Moscow and they were damn cool, the crowd was going mad. The only lacklustre performance was after the line-up change, with "Always Ascending" album - the more polished dancing sound turned a gig into a relaxed disco club night. Though it's in my opinion only.
This was 12 years after Pearl Jam 1992. Amazing. Now there is fences in the crowd and a smarmy "security" bitch in hi viz for every festival goer. We are governed by unfertile dry snatch hall monitors.
