What if it reads when your controller is and is not connected but not when you do an input
Help! i have Retroarch on Ipad Mini and there's a bug that maintains the default settings even when you change them. So after you change the button, it keeps the default function and ADDS the button you tried to change it to, instead of replacing the default function.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but is it possible to connect a DS as a controller? I don’t mind if the display stays on the computer monitor, I just want to be able to play while getting as close as possible to the feeling of a DS. If not, do you know any good alternative controllers or alternative emulators that support it?
Retroarch 1.14.0 on Ubuntu 22.04. The controller (SteelSeries Duo) is recognized by the OS and is connected via Bluetooth. However, I don't see the Device Type and Device Index options anywhere. Why is that?
Hello! I'm trying to pair a wiimote to retroarch and every time I launch retroarch it says its not configured and I can't set any buttons. HELP!
When i configure my buttons for my pro controller it seems to not work. In game my A button functions as fast foreward and action button at the same time? Im having a hard time for something that is supposed to be so easy.. Tips?
I have to use linuxraw as input and sdl2 as controller driver for the ps5 controller to work. I will try and see if the nintendo switch pro controller is more compatible with the default drivers.
At the device index, my switch pro controller IS listed, but when I try to input, nothing happens. Not even with steam running, there it just goes crazy and opens up a "search menu" that is inputed in the right joystick, any help? :(

can someone help please , im playing on the ps2 emulator on retro arch and by start button pauses the game but also is the ESC button so if i pressed start again it would just exit retro arch , and also by b button does the fast forward action , i have no idea whats going on , i never had any problems like this before
Mine says "Error saving controller profile" after I pressed the Save Controller Profile, will it still save if that appears?

when playing older games, only certain buttons get registered. Is there any way to fix that?
Would it be possible to do a tutorial on connecting a Sega Master System controller on RetroArch? We would need an adapter.
Can retroarch use only one controller per port? at the base software as in not in each core. So are you stuck with the same controller in every core? If so that seems to make the variety of cores rather pointless if you need a different install of the same program to get around this. Might as well all be standalone emulators. If not please tell me the secret.

Do you happen to know why it says my device index is disabled?? I also cant set it from retropad to retropad w/ analog :(
If youre having this problem, try updating the controller config from main menu > online updater > controller configs
I do this and then when I close retro arch to play my emulators it loses the mapping I just did.
How do i use it to play wii games?
is there a way to setup controller mappings per emulator? For example, I'm using a dualsense controller and would like to map square to be the B button of a NES controller and X as the A button. I'm not seeing those options in Input menu.

Strange and the controller works on others apps on your PC? Are you on the latest version of retroarch? How is your controller connected?
Same for me. Ds4 connected via Bluetooth. I was able to get it to recognize the D pad controls by going into the old retroarch settings (F5) and changing the driver input to raw instead of xinput. Still, no matter what I do, I can't get it to recognize the actual right-side buttons. Super frustrating.
I still couldn't configure my ps4 controller onto the retroarch system. Is there something i'm missing?

i cant get the controller to work in game. i tried both ps4 and xbox controllers. i set them up and they worked in the menus but would not work when i launched a game.
How'd you get the PS4 controller to work?
its work with ligitech 710 gamepad but not work with ps4 gamepad. Retroarch can see ps4 controller but it is in port 3 and i cant play games with two players

I found out... you need to download a Controller emulator to change it into a xbox 360 controller

somehow, i cant change the controls and even if I use the automatic, the controller still doesnt react (Pro Controller)
EDIT: I got it now, but it still doesnt react
you have to download and launch the steam version of retroarch. regular retroarch doesnt have pro controller support (even though it recognizes the controller)

My friend join player 2 but he can control player 3 as well like they got stick together.

Weird Problem here....for some reason my Controller mistakes the startbutton as escape...and A button for fast forward. Its So annoying. Can anyone help? Even in the configsetup it says escape, when i hit the start button😢

It would seems that, this RetroArch program, with all of it's features, they just forgot or neglect to add this must-have feature

Hi. I'm trying to configure a ps4 controller as my 2nd pad. 1st pad (ps4 horimini pad) works fine as player 1.
2nd pad, although working fine on emulator menu and even playable on snes games through snesEXe emulator, retroarch just will not recognise it. Tried the whole input/dinput but no joy.. any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Everytime I press b on my Xbox controller it fast forwards the game play it’s the craziest shit ever I don’t understand
Now the problem I have is: If I run YuGiOh 5DS on NDS Emulator the controls just wont adapt! THEY JUST WONT!! Its so frustrating... How do I fix this? I literally did the same things as u in the video and set the A button to the down button (which is A on my Xbox controller). But when Im ingame the A button still is set to the left button (B on Xbox controller).
Any suggestions?

This is not working for me. if i press F1 my controller works fine but in game nothing
edit WTF still pissed but it randomly worked when i selected PlayStation controller as the type but I'm 10000% sure i did that already at least 5 times
i have an official sega staurn (usb) controller would be great to see a tutorial for it im finding it a bit confusing remapping the controls for it

Y and b ( xbox ) wont work on the 64 emulator no matter what.
This still isn't getting my emulator to get my controller to work.
After reading some comments i'm not the only one having controller issues. The controller name shows up in the Port 1 Controls list but nothing works. There isnt even a Save Controller Profile option. And when I load content it says GamePad Pro USB not configured. Bullshit I just did it. Go figure. Another Nintendo emulator that doesn't work. Time to update your video to the CURRENT RetroArch version man.
For some reason, I can't set up the dpad or the right analog. It just sets all the dpad buttons to the same control
My keyboard is detected as port #1, how do I change that ?

So I'm trying to play 95 hockey for Sega. On the Xbox controller I would like the a button to be for passing, and the b button to be for shooting the puck on offense. No idea how to do that
