So today, I wanted to talk about how to obtain Paraguayan citizenship, its benefits, the cons, and why you shouldn't get it. First of all, after obtaining permanent residency in Paraguay, you can qualify for Paraguayan citizenship after a few years. Many people on Twitter and TH-cam are right; there are ways to expedite the passport application process, bypassing the Spanish exam. Paraguay is fundamentally a broken country with significant corruption. Some individuals can help you obtain a Paraguayan passport within one or two years of obtaining permanent residency, without requiring you to speak Spanish or spend much time in the country. Therefore, it is relatively easy to obtain a Paraguayan passport. There's no way around that; it is entirely true.
However, there are two primary reasons why I advise against obtaining Paraguayan citizenship. Firstly, according to Paraguayan law, you are not allowed to hold dual citizenship, except for one group of people: Spanish and Italian citizens. If you are a Spanish or Italian citizen, you can obtain Paraguayan citizenship and retain both citizenships. If you are not a Spanish or Italian citizen, you are legally required to renounce your previous citizenship to obtain Paraguayan citizenship.
Of course, in Paraguay, a fundamentally broken and economically challenged country with limited international connections and enforcement of laws, many expats obtain Paraguayan citizenship and retain their previous citizenship without facing immediate consequences. However, even in this scenario, I would strongly urge you to consider why you are seeking a second citizenship.
If you've been following my channel, you know that despite its content, I strongly disagree with the idea that you need a second passport, multiple residences, or numerous driver's licenses. I've consistently emphasized that the key is to increase your income. Second passports and citizenships do not provide as much benefit as simply having more financial resources in US Dollars, Euros, Chinese Renminbi, Japanese Yen, and so on. So, focus on increasing your income rather than obsessing over citizenship.
But if you are genuinely interested in acquiring a second passport or citizenship, especially if it's your very first second passport, it's essential to ensure that it's based on honesty and lacks corruption. Citizenship can be revoked, and you cannot predict future developments. If you are seeking a second passport because you fear increased control in the US or the Western world, it's crucial to consider the alignment of your chosen country with major powers. For instance, small countries like the Caribbean nations are often influenced by larger nations. Paraguay, too, is aligned with the US. So, if you are concerned about increased control by the US, think about the likelihood of a centralized citizen database in the future. In ten years, countries might have the ability to quickly access information about citizens from other countries, potentially exposing any legal violations.
While there may be no immediate consequences, it's wise to invest your time, money, and energy in obtaining a genuine second passport-one based on facts, devoid of corruption, and one you can retain indefinitely. In my opinion, this approach is more responsible and secure. Things can indeed be taken away in the future.

I know it might seem like the responsible thing to do, but with matters like these, it's generally better to act responsibly and do things properly because there's always the possibility of future repercussions. The biggest problem that people run into in Py when trying to get citizenship is not necessarily the language side of things. It's that they've been abusing the "territorial tax system" for the entire time they've been there, or they don't *really* live in the country, and so when their application is assessed, and the judge sees that they don't really live in Py, or if they do live there, they have never paid a G of tax, well, their application is politely put into the "someday" basket.

I have never ever heard of being able to acquire Paraguayan citizenship through corruption. This may be possible, but would be extremely expensive and would not make sense. As far as I'm aware, the supreme court in Paraguay must sign-off approve new citizenships. It's not going to be easy to bribe a judge of the supreme court.

The "option" to get PA citizenship is very attractive. In the meantime, PA residency looks great. It's inexpensive, easily maintained and best of all their Cedula will allow you to travel to several other South American Countries without a passport. This in itself seals the deal for me. I plan to fly into PA, which is generally cheaper and then travel into Brasil and Argentina for sightseeing/vacations.
Only via land borders, if you fly to another South American country you'll need a passport.
The state of Pennsylvania (PA) doesn't offer passports and citizenship. I hope you are not flying in to Pennsylvania to visit Argentina or Brasil...lol. You might want to note that the country code for Paraguay is PY.

Where did you heard/know that is to get citizenship of Paraguay? It ya very hard in indeed, I think that is 88 persons in last year, most of them are from Mercosur countries, Paraguay has to accept their cases due to agreement of Mercosur, I have first hand knowledge

the problem is not anyone can afford a carribean passport it is made for rich corrupted people not all but most of them , if you try a country like mexico which is for me not just a passport but i love the culture , the people , the history you need also to show them that you have revenues and it is for rich retired americans and europeans .... so paraguay for me is the best choice because it is not expensive , the process untiil now is easy and clear and it is a gate to other south american countries and the EU .... i got your point of making money is a better choice but money depends on what did you study , where you live too , how is the market where you live , taxes , bank system , bureaucracy so better to see things for me from my prespective coming from 3 world country .... otherwise thank you for your work stll very informative and rich
Amazing advice as always. A Dutch guy I know was hyping up the Ukrainian passport saying that he'd never need to revoke his own citizenship (even though on paper, they don't allow dual citizenship_ but you never know what will happen down the road.

Paraguay has some nice things about it (for some ppl) but it's no different in terms of laws than say Argentina or the rest of the continent.
In most of the continent, white collar crime (tax fraud etc) is an everyday thing.

You are 100% correct about CBI programs. Even Panama, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic residencies would be under rhe US thumb. Maybe something completely different like Russia or Morocco, at least for residency?? Citizenship is too complicated unless there is no language requirement if you're over 60. But how do Western countries allow citizens to get Russian residency or citizenship?
I would say that the US doesn't have any real limitations into what citizenships/residencies you can obtain aside from a few obvious ones like north Korea, etc.
Many many Americans have dual citizenship with Russia, Venezuela, and Iran without any issues whatsoever (maybe some extra questioning at the border but that's it)

If I had a Pakistani passport, I would try to get a better one if possible for sure.
That being said, I would encourage you to first check out some first world countries with short naturalization time like Canada/Aus to see if it's possible first.
If not, being Argentinian is much better for travel than Pakistani

Except for the isolated German and/or Mennonite communities, Paraguay is beyond broken. The cartels have also finally made permanent inroads from Brasil. Ascuncion is basically a Third-World flea market for the Black Market. The end.

Hello, just watched your video. So, here is the situation. Would love if you could tell me what you think. Right now, many european governments, except a few such as Hungary, are led by a bunch of psychopatic morons like Mr Macron, who are paving the way towards a totalitarian federalist Europe, based on a military economy, confrontation with Russia, and control of its populations. Based on that, I don't want to see my 13 year old kid being drafted to a soon to become mandatory military national service in France, and I'm looking for an escape plan for his own safety, as I don't imagine he'll be happy if he is ordered to some stupid front line in a cold war time at best. Therefore, I was considering going with him to Paraguay and start the residency then citizenship process in 2 years if things keep going worse. But if you have any better suggestion to get him a second citizenship with reasonably low time, effort and money, in any other country, I'm all ears...

If a young person that has only a birth certificate and no other documents that has picture or fingerprints, dies of natural causes without reporting it to authorities, can you just assume that identity for yourself and use that loophole to get instant citizenship?

Paraguay doesn’t care how many passports you have, they never have and never will. Laws and how the country actually operates are way different
Because a dictator 60+ years ago said “no dual citizenship” doesn’t mean the actual gov and citizens care. In the constitution, only because of a previous dictator. Would it make you feel better if they removed it?
The only reason people shouldn’t get PY citizenship is because the passport isn’t great. Just give birth in Argentina or get Argentina citizenship after 2 years
I agree to some extent but the point of the video is why get a citizenship that relies on poor enforcement when you can quite literally get a similar one that is 100% by the book.
Enforcement can always change, but there aren't many cases of countries removing citizenship that was obtained legally.
I think it's because there is a huge market of gestores in Paraguay so the idea gets floated around on social media.
