- Thanks for joining me on this “day in the life” vlog. I work a full-time corporate job and write basically full-time as well. This is a typical day for me, Monday - Friday. I get most of my writing done on the weekends, and spend the week nights doing different tasks while trying to get at least 1000 words written.
You have to find what works for you and your schedule. I feel like most people work and write, though the ultimate goal is to write as my sole income. If you enjoyed this video or have any suggestions of what you’d like to see, please tell me below.

I love me some graphic tees too!! Love these videos- they are so authentic. I am baffled at so many new authors that end their day jobs to pursue writing and have yet to release a book. I am thinking they found a money tree in their back yard or something!! Like you a work a corporate job and write afterwards. Its so hard to stay motivated!! But like you said- you have a dream! I'm obsessed with your videos. I love how honest you are about the working author life. I'm a single mom, I work full time and I'm pushing to publish my novel by December, but I keep struggling with feeling like I don't have the space to fail because of all of that. How did you push yourself to just finish your first book and publish it despite the fear of failure? Did you even have that same fear? Thanks for putting these videos up, they're so inspiring to me!
I think the fear of failure is something everyone goes through, even after 20+ books written and published. At some point, you have to look at it and think what’s the worse possible thing that could happen if you finish the book? 5 people buy it? So. That’s still 5 people. And you still finished it. It can be overwhelming and scary, trust me, but you move past that. Keep your eye on the goal, on what positive things could happen and think about that when fear creeps in! So glad you’re here! ❤️
I empathize with you on so many points on this video, Courtney! I'm not a a morning person, and I do have to really stay focused on my larger goals to be productive in my evenings after my day job has worn me down. I'm working my side gig right now and running TH-cam videos on my second monitor. Vlogs like yours motivate me that this will all pay off one day. Your perseverance got you 800+ words you would not have written otherwise, so kudos to you for your efforts!

This is soooo motivating. Like you, I work full-time Monday to Friday. Most days by the time I get home, cooking dinner is hard enough. I can't even fathom writing for hours, especially AFTER going to the gym. I pay $20/month for a gym I rarely go to. Your schedule is what I aspire to get my schedule to be.
